Chapter 60 - Two Red Lines

Jay-Jay's POV

6 AM. I'm here, walking to school at this hour. That's what Eman and I talked about. But I was still drowsy—I felt like the cold water I had just drunk hadn't even gone down yet.

"Yaaawwwnnnn…"

Ugh, this is annoying! I should have gone to bed early.

I jumped as Aries burned my shorts. May heaven be upon you!

As I was walking, something suddenly popped into my head. I quickly turned my head, hearing someone's voice nearby.

"Good morning!" Yuri greeted me.

Pfft… It's just Yuri.

"Good morning to you too! How's your morning?" I asked, suddenly locking eyes with him. I tried to look away, but I kept my face neutral so he wouldn't notice.

"W-why?"

"Feeling nervous about the contact?" I teased, turning my face towards him.

"O-oh, yeah," he stammered.

I let it slide, but I still kept looking into his eyes.

"Something early... At least there's nothing blocking your face," I said.

"S-thank you," he replied.

I smiled and continued walking. Yuri followed me. He seemed to be getting better—ahihihi...

When we arrived at the classroom, Eman and Ci-N were still cleaning up, half-asleep. It's a little embarrassing, but all they do is sleep.

"Good morning, Eman!" I greeted, trying to wake him up.

No response. Still asleep.

"Good morning... Just you?" He finally mumbled.

I looked around. The whole class was already awake and chatting, but no one bothered to help clean. Typical! Ci-N was supposed to be awake, but he was knocked out cold.

We had no choice but to do it ourselves. I went to wake him up, shaking him slightly.

"Ci! Wake up!" I called.

The only response was a soft groan. This guy!

"Let him be," Yuri said, pulling out the cardboard boxes piled at the back. I felt a little annoyed.

Before I helped Eman, I peeked at Ci-N's ear—nothing! Damn it.

We cleared the stacked-up cardboard, iron, and plywood. A shoe rack popped up, like a locker without a door. I noticed names written on it: Ella + Keifer, with a heart between them.

"Aren't we going to erase this?" I asked.

"We probably should. If Keifer sees it, he might freak out," Eman replied.

So, we erased the names. I decided to replace them with Ella Dianne Hyun. It didn't mean anything, just something I made up.

Honestly, Ella looked so nice—so why was she in Section E before?

"Why did Ella end up in Section E?" I suddenly asked.

Eman and Yuri stopped. They exchanged glances before answering.

"Ella… because," Yuri started hesitantly, rubbing his neck, "maybe she looks like an angel on the outside, but it's the opposite when she gets mad."

I raised an eyebrow, waiting for him to continue.

Eman sighed and jumped in.

"Ella got into a fight before. Her opponent ended up with a head injury, a bloody nose, and bruises all over his face. They weren't rich, so they had to deal with the consequences—she was either going to be expelled or suspended," he explained.

Woah, she was that tough?

"Ella's family was called, and after her suspension, she was placed in Section E," he finished.

That makes sense. I always wondered why she was so aggressive when Mica was mentioned. She must've had a deep grudge.

Did Aries know about this?

"How did she get to Section A?" I asked, sensing an opportunity. They were open to discussing it, so I wasn't going to waste my chance.

"That's none of your business."

We all froze.

I felt like a bucket of ice water had been poured over me.

"Keifer... We were just—"

"Shut up!" Keifer cut Yuri off.

I tensed as he walked up to me, his gaze sharp and filled with anger.

"You really like sticking your nose into other people's business, don't you?"

"H-Not really… I was just curious," I answered carefully.

Keifer leaned in close, whispering in my ear.

"Do you believe in the saying 'Curiosity kills the cat'?"

I shook my head. I had heard it before, but I never really understood it.

Keifer smirked.

"Start believing."

Goosebumps ran all over my body. That was terrifying! Keifer walked away, but not before shooting a sharp look at Yuri.

Eman sighed. "Next time, we'll talk about Ella." Then, he went back to what he was doing.

I was still processing Keifer's words. Why did it feel like a threat?

Annoying!

We continued cleaning, while Ci-N continued his nap. A few others came in to help, but most of them just slacked off. Typical.

As I cleaned, my thoughts wandered.

That's when I noticed Denzel walking down the stairs. He was wearing something white, and for some reason, it made me uneasy.

"Hey, Denzel!" I called.

He froze for a second but then quickly entered the room, flashing a smile.

"Good morning!" he greeted cheerfully before disappearing inside.

I didn't even get a chance to reply. That was… weird.

Then, my brain connected the dots. The white thing he was wearing… Wait. I almost dropped the trash I was carrying near the stairs. There, on the first step, was a small white object. I hesitated before picking it up. A… pregnancy test?

What the—?! Worse, it had two red lines. My teacher once told us that means positive. Wait. Wait. If this was Denzel's, then that means… DENZEL IS PREGNANT?! That's impossible! He's a boy! Which means… SOMEONE GOT PREGNANT BECAUSE OF DENZEL?!

My eyes widened as realization hit me. But who? What will happen to her education? I need to talk to him. But what if he doesn't want to? I stuffed the pregnancy test into my pocket and headed back to the room. Denzel was acting normal, but I kept watching him.

"Why did it take you so long?" Yuri asked.

I snapped out of my thoughts. "Huh? Oh, nothing."

"Are you okay?" he asked again, looking concerned.

I nodded quickly.

"Why aren't you talking?" he pressed, shaking my arm slightly.

"Jay! Help out here!" Eman called.

I used it as an excuse to escape. Yuri still had a suspicious look on his face, but I ignored it. We finished setting up the supplies, each of us getting a space in the shoe rack. The kitchen area was set up at the back of the room.

"Alright then!" Eman clapped his hands together.

I finally noticed that Ci-N was awake.

"Amazing! The sleeping prince is finally up," I teased.

Just then, Sir Alvin entered the room. I barely paid attention—I was too tired. Class started, but I was only looking forward to lunch. Eman and I were going to cook. I'd teach him—though, honestly, I didn't know how to cook either. My aunt tried teaching me before, but I never really learned.

"What are we cooking later?" Ci-N whispered to me.

"I didn't—"

We all froze. The door suddenly opened. David walked in; his expression dark.

"What happened earlier?" I asked.

He just nodded and sat down next to me. The others exchanged glances, communicating silently. Creepy.

"Someone got into a fight?" Kit asked David.

David leaned in and whispered something to them. Their expressions changed immediately. The mood shifted. What did he say? I looked at Ci-N, but he just shrugged. Then, I overheard a whisper.

"When are we going back?"

"Later."

"Who's it against this time?"

"Kiko Evans' group."

I froze. Kiko's group? Did he and Kiko fight again?

Was Aries involved? Damn it. Not this mess again!
