Lin Qing's past 2

As Lin Qing got to that point in her story she paused, letting Wu Zemin draw in a deep breath. He had never expected his beloved wife to have such a great background.

And as she continued to tell her story he could feel a sense of trepidation rise in him on why she had decided to tell him now. Was there something wrong? As he thought this, Lin Qing continued her story

"since the formation was so powerful. It had special requirements to activate and incidentally I met those requirements perfectly. I had a soul that was close to the world, close to the heavenly Dao.

Since this was so I was perfect for the role. I was made the prospective holy maiden and apprenticed under my teacher, who was the then holy maiden and assisted her in communicating with the immortal ancestors." Lin Qing paused for a bit, letting Wu Zemin adjust to all this new information. Then she thought a bit and decided to add a bit of context.

" In fact the formation had not actually needed a holy maiden, in the past it could be activated by anyone with sufficient strength. However, a thousand years ago a certain change had occurred in the immortal realm.

I don't know what but it caused the connection between the immortal realm and our realm to weaken to the extreme. This caused the formation to weaken to an incredible extent, so much so that communication was impossible"

"it was only after spending countless resources and massive effort that the sect was able to find a way to fix it by using the holy maidens. Their was actually no problem with the formation again till another thousand years during my time when the formation ceased to function again.

My master tried everything she could but it was as if the formation had died, there was no response. The sect was of course furious but anything they tried didn't work. As the days passed and no solution was found I noticed the sect's attitude change.

"our status as holy maidens decreased, and the resources were decreased too, and as a cultivator, although master was a peaceful person she also had some enemies in the sect. As our status decreased these people started playing tricks, however they were only minor annoyances,

what truly caused a disaster was an event that caused shockwaves through the bright star realm. The war sword king, a powerful cultivator at the pinnacle of the world had successfully undergone his ascension tribulation; however, no ascension stairway appeared to guide him to the immortal realm.

This caused a huge commotion as the various sects and families worried about a blocked cultivation path. This commotion only increased when another limit level cultivator failed to ascend too." Lin Qing paused and she seemed pained as she described the next events.

"when it was confirmed that a few cultivators had failed to ascend, the Mahayana cultivators in our sect went berserk. The ultimate aim of all cultivators was to achieve immortality and ascend. The fact that this path seemed blocked enraged them to no end. That was when masters' enemies made their move, and this move led to our doom. One day the elders issued an order for master and I to head to the formation and attempt to communicate with the immortal realm.

We were puzzled but did so anyway. Master made all the preparations and we started up the formation, and that was when everything went wrong." As she got to this part of the story Lin Qing's voice went flat and monotone.

"when we started the formation, the elders appeared and surrounded the formation. One of them did something and the formation rebounded, turning on us. Master seemed to know what they were doing and shouted at them to stop.

I can still remember the coldness in the elder's eyes as he said that since the sect had nurtured us for so long it was our duty to sacrifice ourselves for the sect. he then fully activated the formation and that was when I could feel what they were doing, they intended to sacrifice our bodies, soul and essence and forcibly open a channel to the immortal realm. It was madness." as she got to that point her voice trembled a little but she continued in a monotone.

"I felt my flesh start to melt, my essence being sucked into the formation. It was painful and agonizing, but not as painful as the pain in my heart, not for me but for my master. She had given almost everything for the sect for all those years only to end up being sacrificed by the very sect.

I could also see the pain in her eyes, but then I saw master look at me and with a firm resolve in her eyes she made hand signs. Even though the formation had been tampered with, master had operated it for countless years and was incomparably familiar with it. Before the furious eyes of the elders ,

she twisted the formation so that it trembled violently and then tore an massive void rift. The elders seeing this quickly rushed to stop her but she did something and the formation trembled again and caused them to hesitate. Taking this chance she pushed me into the void rift attaching a portion of the energy to my body. As I hurtled into the void I could see her fight for control of the formation with the elders as the rift healed. "

"The void was rough and violent and though I had a bit of formation energy on me it couldn't completely protect me, I was tossed and turned by the chaotic energy and soon it invaded my body. My injuries grew too severe and I passed out."

Lin Qing took a deep breath and halted for a while composing herself. The monotone tone she had used the describe the horrific events subsided a little

"I woke up in the prefecture city when you saved me. At first I wondered where I was and what had happened and that's when the painful memories came back.

I wanted to immediately go back and look for my master but when I looked at my body, I discovered that my spiritual meridians were injured and my qi sea was crippled. I could not even mobilize a hint of spirit qi.

I also noticed that I was in a low level world and had no way to find my way back. That was when I gave in to depression, I almost wanted to kill myself and join my master but I knew that she had given it all for me to survive. Besides you put in so much energy to lift up my mood that my will to live returned." she said as she looked at Wu Zemin.
