Aptitude Test

As he opened his eyes again, he used his connection to the world to perceive the world, his world sense had grown to such an extent that he could now vaguely perceive his surroundings as if it was his own eyes.

It was wide enough to cover the street outside the mansion. Looking around, he quickly got up and shot towards the cultivation class. He knew he was about to get scolded again by his mum for being late, besides today would be the day they would be the day their affinity would be tested.

Flying through the corridors at an inhuman speed, he soon arrived at the class, however due to his reckless running he still arrived at too fast a pace. He thus almost bumped into Li Er on his way in and seeing a fellow latecomer,

felt he had seen a comrade in mischief. Exchanging an embarrassed look they both dashed into the room. Lin Qing noticed them but didn't comment only shooting them an unappreciative look. She then directed them to sit close to her.

Lin Qing then began "Today, I am going to be roughly testing your affinity. In the cultivation world, this is the most important criteria since it determines what path you will be taking in the future"

During these few months, all of her injuries had healed. In fact she could feel that her already monstrous talent and qualifications had been improved, she could sense the spiritual energy of the world clearer and the rules felt closer.

She was once again amazed by Tianer's gifts and in the depths of her heart she had started to harbor some faint hope. In fact she had wanted to wait until she gave birth so that she could recover some strength and find some measuring devices to measure the kids' attributes.

It was possible to measure vague spiritual root quality but difficult to determine attribute without specialized items. But then it seemed that her daughter had no plans of coming out, it seemed that she was more than happy in her mothers' womb.

Lin Qing still remembered the conversation that day, the doctors and midwife had all been ready.

The calendar had stated that her baby was supposed to be born on that day. A day had gone by, two , a week and finally the worried doctor had come to see the couple and examine her.

"county lord the baby appears to be in proper condition, so does the mother, it seems like this is a special circumstance."

Wu Zemin had nodded calmly and dismissed the doctor. Turning to look at his wife he had seen her look at him with an amused 'I told you so expression'. He let out an exasperated sigh, feeling a bit out of his depth, "is this a cultivation thing again?"

Lin Qing laughed. "It both is and is not." Seeing Wu Zemin's less than amused expression she laughed and said. "When special children or divine beasts are born it is normal for them to stay in the womb for long periods of time."

Hearing this Wu Zemin was relieved but Lin Qing smirked and said, "Sometimes they can stay for thousands of years." She laughed out loud at Wu Zemin's horrified expression, wouldn't he be a fossil by the time his child was born? For someone that wasn't even thirty that was a really long time.

"Don't worry, that is only in legends, besides for that to happen the child's parents have to be extremely powerful. In the womb they are nurtured and born with extreme potential. I think our daughter received a boost from the eternal energy. She will definitely be a talented little imp." She said as she stroked her belly lovingly.

Wu Zemin sighed as he warily sat down; this cultivation was really making him feel a bit out of his depth. As Lin Qing remembered that day and how fed up he had looked, she couldn't help but smile again. She brought her attention back to her class. She would have loved to recover some of her cultivation but she didn't want to affect her child, thankfully as a powerful cultivator she could still passively attract spiritual energy and control it to form some techniques.

The technique she was going to use in fact was only going to work since she had known these kids were extremely talented and therefore the spirit qi would have a strong reaction to them otherwise the technique would not have worked at all .

She regarded them for a bit and gestured for Qier to come towards her, on the floor there was something the kids had never seen and had only noticed. Seeing their curiosity Lin Qing said in a teaching manner.

"This is one of the formations I told you about, this is a bit of a combination between a qi gathering formation and a boosting formation. All of you will learn a little about this latter, it is very important knowledge to have in the dangerous cultivation world. When I call one of you will step in to the formation."

Saying this she gestured for Qier to step into the formation.

Qier nervously looked at her but obediently stepped into the formation, her little heart beating at a fast pace. Lin Qing smiled at her and reassured her then making some hand signs she activated the formation and her technique.

Although the kids couldn't yet feel spirit qi they could feel something rushing to the formation from the atmosphere. Wu Tian opened his eyes wide and for a minute thought he saw something flying towards the formation.

The markings on the ground light up and a while later the spiritual qi flowed into Qier's body, there was no reaction for a while but then everyone in the room felt the air suddenly cool down. It progressively grew colder till after a while they could all see their breath form a fog as they breathed out.

Looking closely, a frightening chill was radiating from Qier's body and as more of the spirit qi was guided into her body the chill grew more and more frightening. There was even a thin layer of frost gradually forming on the floor.

At the same time, behind Qier a vague silhouette of a frigid moon could be seen materializing but then her frail body seemed unable to bear it, her frail body began shaking and she started trembling in pain.

Seeing this, Lin Qing quickly shut the formation down and the phenomena gradually vanished
