chapter 13 Shadows Beneath the School

Olivia wasn't sure if this was what she was supposed to embrace. She felt raw dread gushing through her veins. The thought of losing control scared her so much.

"I will forgive you this time, because of your potential." 

Little White finally let her pet him.

The door suddenly opened, making Olivia snap her head towards it.

Three teenage girls walked inside the room.

" Finally, the sleeping beauty is awake." A girl with curly black hair said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

"Oh yes, I don't think she found her true love's kiss yet, so how did she wake up?". A slim brunette girl added.

Olivia tensed under their scrutinising gaze.

" Who are you?.. and what are you doing here?"

" You are asking us, when you are the intruder? Hilarious" the first girl remarked.

" You guys should let her be." The last girl walked towards her bed, which was on the other lower bunk bed, opposite to Olivia.

She took off her shoes, her hazel eyes occasionally glancing at Olivia, who looked like she had risen from dead. 

" We are your roommate, I am Emma." She looked towards the first girl, " That is Lily and Claire."

Roommates? Olivia let out an awkward laugh, she felt weird with the idea of sharing a room with other people.

" I'm Olivia, let's get along."

She said with a forced smile.

"Get along my foot." Lily scoffed, before climbing up to her bunk bed.

" In case you don't know, getting along with you is like declaring a war with Freya Frankston. And we don't want that" Claire said.

Olivia rolled her eyes inwardly at them, she just wanted peace and quietness. But it seems she will not be getting any of those in her stay at the academy.

She caught Emma staring at her.

"What?"

" How did you do that? I mean at the introductory hall?" Emma could not help but ask.

Before Olivia could answer, Lily beats her to it.

"Do you mean how she got Klaus Reyes to step in for her, or how she nearly burnt down the school or… when she was carried out naked with.."

Olivia disrupted her before she could continue her next sentence.

" What do you mean by being carried out naked?" Her brows knitted in worry.

A mocking laugh from Claire filled the room " Oh you don't remember" she paused, gazing at her expression, she casually rested her back on the bunk bed.

" You even had the fearful Stefan Damonwalk to carry you out, haha." Claire laughed more at Olivia's plight.

Olivia felt heat rise to her cheeks. She wished the ground would open up and swallow her, as embarrassment washed over her.

Her throat dried, so everyone has seen her naked? How is she going to live in the Academy now?

"Olivia don't worry about what they are saying, you were covered, the students didn't see anything." Emma tried to pacify her worries.

" Even if the students didn't see it, what about Stefan?, I believe he had a good view." Claire laughed.

Olivia's fist clenched, anger boiling in her veins, she knew that they were intentionally trying to annoy her, although she doesn't know their intentions behind it.

"Enough!"

Her voice echoed in the room, she will not sit still and have people talk down on her. Her eyes closed from embarrassment, ' Damn this system' she cussed under her breath.

The girls kept quiet for a while before they began their teasing again.

Olivia ended up leaving the room in pure anger, Little White curled around her shoulder, as she strolled through Academy in the dark night.

"It seems like a lot of people don't like me, little white."

She let out a groan, as she felt pain with every step she took, her body screamed at her with pain.

Her face scrunched. Unsure of where she was going, only that she needed fresh air.

She felt the cold wind brush against her skin, her hair slightly ruffled by the wind.

" Why did I end up like that? Freya was amazing, she could control her powers, why am I different?" she continued talking, the snake kept quiet listening to her all rattling.

A noise of a footstep drew her out from her thoughts, she quickly hid behind the wall, peeking her head out slightly to see what was happening.

She caught sight of a hooded figure slipping into the school building. His movements were calculated, too unnatural. Instinct kicked in.. she had to follow. 

She knew if she was caught she would be in deep trouble, because there was a curfew after 8pm, but here she was, spying on the mysterious figure.

The figure suddenly turned around. Her breath hitched, her heart pounded violently. she saw him, he was…a monster.

Olivia's body quickly pressed against the hard cold wall, she held her breath as if this would make her go unnoticed by him.

Her blood turned ice cold. That wasn't human, the cracked skin, the eerie red glow in its eyes. She had seen monsters before, but never one in human form or walking freely inside the academy.

She peeked her head out again, slowly and steadily following his track, they passed through different turns. The further she followed after him the stronger her dreads grew. Cold shivers crawled down her spine.

She felt suffocated by fear. She felt Little White tugging and pulling her clothes to go back, he hissed sharply at her, warning her not to step any further but she ignored him.

 She knew this was dangerous, but she won't give up now. She was so close to finding the mysterious secret about the monster.

The monster shifted some bricks on the wall, and a passageway opened. Olivia quickly followed him before the passage could close.

The passageway was dim and damp, cracks lined the walls, an awful stench invaded her nostrils. She covered her nose with her arms, as she made her way deeper.

Her steps suddenly halted, as she heard whispers from a room.

"Were you followed?"

"No."

" This is the batch you ordered?" The monster said.

" Have you found him yet?" A cold voice asked.

" No, he took on the form of an animal, we can't track him, until.. recently we felt his overwhelming aura." The monster answered, his voice deep and eerie.

" I want you to find him and bring him to me, there will be consequences if his real form awakens." 

Olivia cautiously peeked at them, she wanted to see the person that was talking to the monster, her eyes widened in horror.

'The blue pills…the same as the one Alexa brought to me' her blood ran cold.

The cold stopped speaking. The air shifted.

"We have a guest."

Their heads instantly snapped towards her.

Her blood froze. She was caught.
