Young Master Sterling curved his lips into a smirk, standing beside Evelina and looking at me smugly.
I suppressed my instinct to tremble uncontrollably, and spoke each word deliberately:
"Scarlett, we've long had nothing to do with each other!"
"Ethan, are you still acting now?" Evelina sneered, shaking her head, "You're in too deep. Too bad I'm not who I used to be anymore."
"Ethan, if you don't come back, I'll just have to drag a life down with me," Scarlett said, pouting pitifully.
Everyone probably thought she was joking.
Only I knew.
Whose eyes, as if dipped in poison, she was really looking at.
I shook all over, forcing myself to calm down.
Evelina was indeed very drunk. She suddenly, out of character, pressed her hand on my shoulder and pleaded in a low voice by my ear:
"Don't go with her."
My pupils constricted, but I didn't respond to her.
"Ethan, my patience has its limits," Scarlett said impatiently.
I pried Evelina's fingers off one by one.
