I smiled.
"You said that if I apologized, you'd let me stay by your side."
"But I've truly apologized now. Can you forgive me?"
"Seraphina, let's face it."
"There's a life standing between us. We can never go back to the way we were before."
Seraphina's eyes filled with sadness, but she stared intently at the trace of blood at the corner of my mouth and asked:
"What's that? Did you... cough up blood?"
"No way, it's just tomato juice."
I grinned nonchalantly, "See? I fooled you again. Don't let your fiancé see this, or he'll be upset."
As I spoke, I sensed an odd gaze and turned my head.
Liam stood there motionless, biting his lip hard, his eyes glaring at us venomously.
After I left, Seraphina called me again.
I heard Liam's tearful voice on the other end, "Please help me look for it. That watch was a gift from you. It was there before I tried on the wedding dress, how could it just disappear..."
Seraphina asked if she might have left it at the bridal shop.
