Uriah

It felt as though the entire company had joined forces against him. He was yet to have any meal since morning and his back to back appointments didn't seem to favor him. He was still expecting a call from his beloved who had gone to visit her sister in the hospital. He assumed it was because she got carried away. There were several aspects of their relationship that he just didn't understand. The woman had left Decota for dead and just reconnected with her once she had gotten successful and somehow Decota didn't think it was wild. If he was to be asked he would have said that the only reason that the family was trying to build bridges through the sisters would be because she was now a stand alone successful boss lady and they wanted to leech on her. Rumor had it that even though they were still the most successful family the city had ever seen there was a stagnation with them. He was not one to dwell on rumors but somehow the need to protect his woman was strong. He sighed sitting back and stretching his hands above his head. The tense muscles of his back and shoulders hurt and he knew that he was to blame. Without wasting any more time he decided that he was done for the day. He requested his secretary to cancel his appointments. He needed a work out or a massage or something that was not work and the only way to get any of them would be to find his woman.

He dialed her number severally on the drive to the hospital and she picked up once saying she would call back but that didn't suffice to quench his desire to see her. He kept dialing her number even as he walked the hospital corridors until he heard it ring inside one of the rooms. He pushed open the door only to find Arsher holding his woman's phone. His mind ran as he tried to decode why the man would have her phone. His body seemed to figure things out faster than his brain as he punched him real hard before he heard the soft voice speak from behind him admonishingly. He didn't feel ready to turn and see her innocent face and act when he clearly could tell something was off between the two of them. He was thankful for the fact that she didn't go forth to help him. He knew that if she did, he would lose it completely. He did not want to make a scene at the hospital.

"Really Decota? Him?" He asked, his voice sounding foreign even to him. The hurt and the rejection in it shocking him.

"Uriah, baby. Me and Arsher? No way babe." She said placing a hand on his shoulder. It shouldn't have been a source of comfort with the amount of hurt he was feeling at that moment but it was. He loved her regardless of anything that happened and there was no denying it. He tried to understand what she meant with those words but somehow he felt as though she was trying to justify her cheating.

"Remind me to never borrow your phone again, sis." He heard Arsher speak and he turned to look at him. He was rubbing his jaw while he was stretching his hand to hand her back the phone. He immediately felt stupid for overreacting but the soft chuckle from his woman washed over him taking a bit of the embarrassment with it. He apologized and sheepishly walked away.

He did not know what he had been thinking. There was definitely no way that his woman would cheat on him. The had been down in the gutters together. There was no was the lady that helped him grow into who he was was going to jeopardize it all just for a moment of fun. He laughed to himself. Arsher was not even her type. He wasn't tall enough, neither did he have the vibe. Why the hell did he misinterpret the situation so quickly. When they said love made you do crazy things, they probably meant punching the man that was joining the family in the face. He risked a glance at her. He had a feeling she would be angry at how he had just treated her brother. It was such a confusing moment when he met her amused eyes. She looked like she was close to bursting out in laughter and that she did, until her eyes were full of tears and she couldn't breath. He couldn't help but laugh along. Oh stupid stupid. He chastized himself.

As the laughter died down they realized that they were just the two of them, supporting each other through the bouts of laughter. He pulled her closer by the waist until there was no space between them. The desire he had been feeling for her came crashing down on him and he couldn't help but cover her lips with his. That felt like home. The sweet warmth he had been missing crashed over him and he sighed. His body caved to the desire as he pushed her to the closest wall wanting to consume her entirity without reservation.
