"From when I was a little girl before mom died, I don't miss this festival"
"I could tell"
"Hmm, an alpha's daughter doesn't come out, which is a very bad thing but surely this festival is one of the best in the astral blood pack. I heard people from other packs and witches come here too…"
"What about vampires?"
"Eh"
"Don't they come to the festival?" Evelynne asked as they walked down the bushy path to the pack square where they party, drink, and people set up rare stalls of gems which you can't find on a normal day. Different foods and varieties of games are displayed too.
They had to follow this path so no one would catch them or try to see them, her blonde hair is a feature for everyone to know it's her. Astral blood pack women aren't blondes, only brown and black.
She didn't have the strength to put on a cloak but she wore a hair tie to at least cover it a little, the same as the color of her shabby dress. She dressed this way so no one would identify her in the market. Everyone knew her face in the kingdom and would recognize her in a heartbeat.
She lifted her dress to walk properly before turning to her maid again "do they?"
Betty bit her lips contemplating, vampire matters were like a sacred matter to discuss in werewolves kingdom. Even if they can't say it, they were sometimes scared of the blood sucking creatures.
"I don't know but from what I have heard. No one has ever seen them or anything that looks like them"
"Hmm okay" evelynne walked ahead leaving Betty staring strangely at her "do you want to see them milady?, they are evil bloodsucking creatures" Betty yelled as she followed her.
"You are screaming bet" evelynne whispered, chuckling before running away "someone might hear you". They arrived at the market and undoubtedly it was packed. Children running around, stalls of different food she has never laid her eyes on.
She beamed widely, she was happy. This was her first time coming out for this festival, her father never let her go to it saying it was only for lowlifes. She tapped her side gown and felt her pouch there with coins clinking inside. "Let's go buy something bet"
"Yes milady, let's go to that stall, the jewellery there is so beautiful. I wish I could buy them" Betty squealed happily but got sad she couldn't buy them. Evelynne took her hand in hers and dragged her saying "I will buy for the both of us"
"Don't milady" Betty pushed a guy who pressed his body to hers due to the crowd "I can't be feeding off of you, I…"
"You are just like my sister Betty" they reached the stall with Betty wowing and evelynne eyes shining while she picked almost everything but she didn't but pick up a little with bet before they left to another stall where a rare bun was cooked by rare ingredients only grown in this season.
People crowded the stall where evelynne's hair tie fell off and her blonde hair sprung out flowing down her back. Her hair has never been cut only when she was a kid but since then it was hardly cut or trimmed.
No pins on her hair or anything leaving it flowing that Betty had to pull her away from the crowd to a corner and use the band from her hair for her. "Did you see the hair tie?" Evelynne asked, tears in her eyes. That was amongst the few things she has of her mother and felt like it protected her so she wore it.
"We should go find it Beth…I…you know how…we should go"she ran away forgetting about her hair as it flowed in the wind gathering attention of everyone but most especially a person in the crowd.
"Milady" Betty shouted running after her and the person smiled smugly. "Your hair damnit eve, everyone is looking at you"
They went back to the stall and searched on the floor and grounds of the stall. Nothing. People strangely glared at them most especially evelynne, whispers began.
"I can't find it" she complained as they walked away to sit under the tree where a show was about to start, "mom would be angry with me I…I…couldn't take care of such a small thing…she…"
"She will understand milady that it wasn't your fault but a mistake" Beth consoled her almost crying herself also as evelynne fell her head on her shoulder crying. Only Betty can see her this way.
While they both cried, they didn't notice a male figure coming to sit beside them. "Hello?" He waved his hands in the air for both to see him which they did and evelynne pulled away, cleaning her tears and licked her lips which subtly caught the eyes of the male figure but he removed his eyes immediately.
"Hello" Betty greeted back "how can we help you Mr?" Her eyes roved over his sharp features, he is a blond just like her miss which meant he wasn't from astral blood pack. His chapped lips and his nose and ocean blue eyes. Handsome was far from the words she wanted to use to describe him.
"A traveler here, in Astral blood pack and I don't know my way from here"he shifted in his seat, looking uncomfortable "And?" Betty probed, her brows lifting.
"And I need direction to leave, maybe you could help me find my way after here"he smiled eerily at her. His eyes moved swiftly to evelynne and they locked eyes but she pulled hers away watching the show like he was not there.
Betty almost drew blood from her tongue from the way she was biting her mouth, she didn't know what to do and needed to take permission from her lady first. "Can you give me a second?" She said, her eyes pleading as she moved in the seat close to evelynne and whispered, sure she heard everything "what should I say to him milady?"
Evelynne's eyes veered to the male figure and she eyed him, turning to Betty she said "tell him to find someone else Beth" she stood up from the bench "I'm out of here, meet me after you chased him away. Let's go home, my hair tie is lost" her face sullen as she walked away in fast paced.
Betty turned to the male stranger, aware he must have heard their not-so-silent discussion, "I'm sorry I can't help you, maybe someone here may bye. I hope you find your way" she sprinted off to meet evelynne.
The male stranger eyes glinted with pride and joy as he mumbled "I have found my way"
