Aurora's Point Of View
I can't believe I'm standing before the handsome man I saw in the picture, and I must confess that he is more attractive in person than in that picture.
I'm even happier that my grandfather can witness today; it was hard for me to believe that he was the same man who looked very sick the previous day.
Though I couldn't sleep well last night because of the horrible thought that filled my head about his health, I'm glad he is here as he promised to be.
"You may kiss your bride!" The priest said with a smile.
Though Liam spoke rudely to the priest, telling him to proceed with the whole thing like he wasn't interested, he must be busy and might be tired because of the wedding preparation.
I wasn't there to support him in preparing for the wedding because I was more concerned about my grandfather.
He leaned forward, and I felt my heartbeat pause.
His strong cologne hit my nose, and I fell even more for this man before me.
"You must think this is your fairy tale marriage, right?"
"Let me tell you this in advance: I'm going to make sure you regret accepting to get married to me in the first place."
"I'm going to make this marriage a living hell for you, so make sure you are well-prepared to face everything I have in stock for you."
After pecking me on the cheek, he leaned backward with a dangerous smile, and the congregation was filled with cheers and laughter.
For a moment, I felt I had just heard him wrong, but the look on his face made me realize that what I had heard was what he had just said.
Does this mean he was also forced to do this with me? Does this mean that everything Lisa said about him was the truth?
If it is, will I be able to make him love me, and will I be able to change him into a better person?
Cold chills filled my body as I stared at his domineering features. Some of them told me I was in for doom, but my gramps wouldn't put me in a place that would destroy me.
There must be a mix-up somewhere; I'm sure about that.
Liam held my hand like a piece of unwanted paper as we walked down the aisle. The claps and cheers from our guests filled my ears, and I wondered how my marriage life would be.
After a few minutes, which felt like several hours, it was time to take pictures, and the photographer did well in arranging us accordingly.
My grandfather is here enough to make me happy; I will deal with whatever Liam says later on; it's my wedding day, and I must be satisfied.
My mother-in-law moved close to me with a smile, but it changed as soon as she got to me.
From a sweet-looking woman to a wicked mother-in-law, what exactly have I done?
"You look beautiful," she suddenly said with a fake smile. But I smiled because we were in public.
"Thanks..can I call you mom?" I asked.
Thinking about it, I never got to stay with my birth parents for too long; they died in a car accident when I was still very little, and I have been with my grandfather ever since.
"Of course, address me however you like," she said, looking at the camera for an instant.
Martha groaned inwardly, hoping the drama and fake smiles would end soon.
What made her more vexed was that a beautiful young lady like this would be a gold digger who ends up with her only son; there's no way she would accept her into her family.
"Don't you think we should just spoil this whole thing and free our son from this forever bondage he is about to get himself into?" She said to her husband.
"Don't even think of doing it. Just compose yourself and don't try anything stupid here, " he said immediately before walking away to meet a colleague.
Andrew took a steady step towards Liam, who was busy discussing things with a business partner.
"Hey man!" he said, holding his shoulders tightly. The business partner walked away, leaving them to have their discussion.
"Who invited you here? Or are you probably here to gather some information to know your next move?" He asked.
"We are family, Liam; there's nothing you can do about that, and as to be here, you are right about that; I'm here to spy on you like I always do."
The smile on his face was broad, and that made Liam even more angry.
"You should stay in your lane and never think of crossing that. Rather than spying on me, there are other things you can do with your life."
"You can go catch a fish or focus your energy on advising your grandfather to make it big like my grandfather did."
"That's advice you should consider," he said.
"You just insulted not only me but my grandfather, but you should be more concerned about yourself because you don't know what is coming to you."
"Getting married doesn't mean you have everything you need, neither does it secure your position in your grandfather's company."
"Focus your energy on trying to stop me, or, better still, you should try as much as you can to enjoy your life of poverty in the future."
"Take it as advice from me, and thank me later."
"Keep on dreaming," Liam said, angrily clenching his fist. He would love to do that without hesitation if only he could hit him in the face.
"Your wife is very beautiful. By the way, you made the right choice of woman. And Brother..."
"Keep watching your back and sleep with your eyes open 'cause I will come for you soon enough."
"Do have a happy married life."
