Chapter 88: Searing Sunraze Smash
Altar of the Sunne was a significant location on Poni Island in the Alola Region, located at the far end of Vast Poni Canyon.
Ron and the others landed at the Altar of the Sunne. Tapu Lele and Tapu Fini circled around Cosmoem, who was floating in the air, performing a strange dance. Sparkling phosphorescent dust and glistening water droplets spun around Cosmoem.
"Is it beginning?" Ron murmured.
"It's so beautiful!" Rosa exclaimed.
"Ron, do you know what Tapu Lele and Tapu Fini are doing?" Lillie asked, tugging at Ron's hand.
"What strange Pokémon—are these the four guardians of Alola?" Ruby said as he stared at the four Tapu.
Ron signaled them to lower their voices and said, "As far as I know, it's a ritual—a ritual to let Cosmoem evolve once more."
"Little Nebby is going to evolve again?!" Lillie gasped in shock. "So what you told me before was true? Little Nebby really is the legendary Solgaleo?!"
"Let's wait and see," Ron replied, sitting cross-legged to watch the ritual.
Lillie and the others also sat down on the steps, carefully observing the ceremony.
After Tapu Lele and Tapu Fini ended their dance, Tapu Koko and Tapu Bulu flew forward. The four Tapu each landed on one of the stone pillars surrounding the altar and began to sing.
Their singing was long and carried an ancient aura. Soon, the four Tapu channeled energy into the pillars beneath them, and the energy flowed into the altar's sun-shaped emblem.
As the solar energy poured into it, the sun emblem slowly opened, revealing a radiant energy source akin to sunlight. A powerful beam of energy gathered, shining directly onto Cosmoem at the center of the altar.
The powerful energy field enveloped Cosmoem, causing it to glow with evolution energy. As light shot skyward, Cosmoem gradually transformed within the energy, growing into a lion-like figure.
"Solgaleo!" Lillie covered her mouth in excitement, trying not to disturb Cosmoem's evolution.
As the light dissipated, Solgaleo stood proudly on the spot, roaring loudly to announce its arrival.
Ron approached it, took out a jar from his bag, poured out a few star candies, and smiled, "You've finally grown up."
Solgaleo affectionately licked Ron's face with its golden tongue before happily eating the candies from his hand.
"Lele!" Tapu Lele gently called out to Ron, handing him a Z-Crystal. Looking at this Z-Crystal with two additional corners, Ron shook his head, showing the Z-Ring on his left wrist, and said, "It doesn't seem to fit."
Tapu Lele giggled softly and waved its small hand. Ron's Z-Ring floated over to Tapu Lele. It closed its shell around the ring, shook it gently, and tossed it to Tapu Fini.
After passing between the four Tapu, the Z-Ring returned to Ron's hand from Tapu Bulu. It had transformed completely. Ron placed the Z-Crystal into the ring, fitting perfectly.
"Thank you very much, Tapu Lele, Tapu Fini, Tapu Bulu, and Tapu Koko. With this, that Guzzlord will have to go back whether it wants to or not," Ron said.
Tapu Koko taught Ron the pose for the Z-Move, and then the four Tapu scattered and vanished.
"Ron, all the Tapu left. Is it going to be okay?" Rosa asked.
"Of course, it will be fine. With Solgaleo here, everything is under control," Lillie said confidently. "I've read ancient documents mentioning Solgaleo. It's called the beast that devours the sun. How could it not be strong?"
"A beast that devours the sun?!" Ruby said, suddenly feeling deep respect. Each legendary Pokémon truly carried its own legend.
"Come on. Let's deal with that Guzzlord!" Ron shouted, leaping onto Solgaleo's back and recalling Dragonite and Aerodactyl.
Solgaleo lowered itself, allowing Lillie and the others to climb onto its back.
"It's so warm, like the sun itself," Lillie said softly as she gently lay against Solgaleo's fur.
"Let's go, Solgaleo!" Ron called out loudly once everyone was seated.
Solgaleo roared powerfully, took off running, leaped into the air, and continued running as if it were on flat ground, swiftly moving toward Guzzlord's location.
Arriving at the large pit, Ron saw that Island Kahuna Hapu was already there, commanding her Mudsdale to battle Guzzlord. Nearby, a gigantic Kommo-o was also fighting Guzzlord.
"Stand back!" Ron shouted.
Seeing Ron and the Solgaleo he rode upon, Hapu and Kommo-o quickly retreated without hesitation.
Seated on Solgaleo's back, Ron rotated the Solganium Z on his upgraded Z-Power Ring clockwise, performed the pose, and allowed the Z-Power to fully envelop his body. Then he unleashed the move with full force, shouting, "This is our full power—Searing Sunraze Smash!"
Empowered by the Z-Move, Solgaleo transformed into its Radiant Sun form and accelerated dramatically, directly charging at Guzzlord.
Behind Guzzlord, a massive Ultra Wormhole opened up, and with Solgaleo's powerful charge, it knocked Guzzlord straight into the Ultra Wormhole—along with Ron and the others.
"That looked like the legendary Pokémon Solgaleo?!" Hapu exclaimed in shock.
"Lillie and the others will be okay, right?" Mallow asked anxiously.
"They'll definitely be fine," Sophocles reassured them. "Ron is so powerful, and he has Solgaleo's help. Let's not worry."
Ignoring those outside for now, Ron and the others felt as if they had entered a strange, colorful passageway filled with numerous round holes emitting various colors.
"Everyone, help me find a white wormhole!" Ron shouted loudly.
Guzzlord had already reacted and was relentlessly attacking Solgaleo, preventing it from accurately locating the Ultra Space Guzzlord belonged to. Fortunately, Ron had played the game and knew that Guzzlord's Ultra Ruin was located inside a white wormhole, so he hurriedly asked the others to look for it.
"Celebi, use Leech Seed to restrict its movements!" Ron commanded.
Celebi scattered numerous seeds onto Guzzlord. The seeds instantly sprouted, growing vines to restrain Guzzlord's movements.
With Solgaleo catching its breath, it immediately accelerated forward.
"Ron, is it over there?" Lillie pointed to a white wormhole.
"No," Ron quickly glanced at it and replied. "That's a place with many ruined buildings."
"Over there!" Ruby suddenly shouted.
Ron looked over and indeed saw a white wormhole in the distance. He wasn't sure if it was Ultra Ruin, but he saw clearly another Guzzlord trying to crawl out of it!
"Solgaleo, charge over there!" Ron shouted.
Solgaleo roared, charging fiercely at the other Guzzlord trying to escape from the wormhole. With a powerful collision, Ron and his friends successfully knocked both Guzzlord inside—but Solgaleo itself also plunged into this Ultra Space.
