Chapter 89: Ultra Space
The stench, dust, and smog made the entire sky here gray. Ron and the others felt discomfort and difficulty breathing after just taking a few breaths.
Ron quickly purchased four gas masks from the shop, and everyone felt much better after putting them on.
"The environment here is too terrible. I didn't expect Guzzlord to come from a place like this," Lillie's muffled voice came through her gas mask.
Ron looked at several Guzzlords in the distance and said, "We should leave immediately. This place is no longer suitable for living beings. We'll be in danger if we stay longer."
Solgaleo nodded in agreement, preparing to take everyone away.
"Wait! Why does this place look exactly like Hau'oli City?!" Lillie suddenly exclaimed.
"Hau'oli City? The Hau'oli City on Melemele Island? Lillie, are you sure you're not mistaken?" Ron asked.
"How could I be wrong! That's the clothing store, that's the shopping mall, and over there is the malasada shop!" Lillie identified the abandoned buildings one by one. Solgaleo also moved closer, allowing everyone to recognize the ruins. Although unclear, the broken signs faintly confirmed Lillie's claims.
"A parallel space?" Ron pondered aloud.
The current scene indeed proved this was Hau'oli City on Melemele Island, yet it clearly wasn't the same Hau'oli City. Perhaps a parallel space was the only way to explain it.
"Either way, we need to leave first. Several Guzzlords are heading this way!" Ruby said seriously.
"Solgaleo, let's go!" Ron stopped hesitating and once again activated Searing Sunraze Smash.
Solgaleo immediately charged out of this Ultra Space. After returning to the Ultra Wormhole passage, Solgaleo used its power to shrink the white wormhole, ensuring no more Guzzlords could escape.
"Do you want to go back and see your home?" Ron asked, releasing Pheromosa.
Pheromosa nodded. It still wanted to visit its homeland. Even though it wasn't a pleasant place, it was still where it was born and raised.
Ron glanced at the others and said, "Let's go to another place. It will allow Pheromosa to see its home."
Everyone removed their gas masks. Ruby shrugged, "I don't mind."
"I agree. It's good to broaden our horizons," Rosa said.
"Yeah, let's go take a look. After experiencing that Ultra Space, I'm curious about others too," Lillie added.
Ron signaled Solgaleo, and it nodded before rushing into another nearby white wormhole. Soon, Ron and the group arrived in a vast desert.
Ultra Desert was an expansive wasteland, filled with stone pillars and caves. Some rock formations had bright blue crystals. Everyone saw numerous Pheromosa peeking out of these caves.
Ron's Pheromosa jumped down from Solgaleo's back, landing gracefully among the stone pillars. Immediately, a group of wild Pheromosa surrounded it, warmly welcoming and hugging it.
Ron rubbed his nose and said, "I didn't realize my Pheromosa was so popular."
Ron's Pheromosa communicated with the wild ones. Ron listened and frowned slightly.
"Ron, what are they saying?" Lillie asked curiously.
"The wild Pheromosa want mine to stay and become their new leader, but mine is encouraging them to move to Alola. The conditions here really are too harsh," Ron explained.
After a while, Pheromosa returned somewhat disappointed. Ron knew its persuasion hadn't worked. Although some Pheromosa considered leaving, they were hesitant about going to an unfamiliar place. Each Pheromosa had bonds within the group, and none were willing to leave their entire community behind to venture into unknown territory.
"Don't be disappointed." Ron patted Pheromosa's lowered head. "You were thinking of their well-being, but they have their own concerns. No need to overthink it."
Pheromosa nodded, and Ron recalled it into the Beast Ball. He then signaled Solgaleo that it was time to return.
Solgaleo quickly exited the Ultra Space, heading back toward their original entrance.
Ron glanced at the other colored wormholes in the distance. Ultra Ruin and Ultra Desert had been confirmed to contain Ultra Beasts, but did the other spaces have Legendary Pokémon as well?
It remained unknown, but Ron knew he'd return eventually. With Solgaleo, Ron could revisit whenever he wished, though he wouldn't do so without sufficient strength to challenge Legendary Pokémon.
Returning to the real world, people quickly surrounded them. Everyone was curiously touching and admiring Solgaleo.
Professor Kukui, ignoring the distance, had rushed here and was enthusiastically examining Solgaleo. "I can't believe you captured Solgaleo, Ron! How is it? Does it have any special moves?"
"Alright, alright, let them rest first," Professor Burnet pulled Professor Kukui away.
Ron and the others jumped down from Solgaleo's back, and Ron used the Master Ball to recall Solgaleo, who appeared somewhat uncomfortable being crowded.
"Oh, Ron! Why'd you recall Solgaleo?" Lusamine complained slightly.
"If you want to see it, there'll be plenty of time later," Ron replied. "This incident with Guzzlord was dangerous. If you encounter similar Ultra Beasts again, just call me, and I'll come as soon as possible."
"Ron, how about leaving Solgaleo here?" Lusamine suggested.
"Don't even think about it. It's my Pokémon!" Ron protected the Master Ball tightly.
With the Guzzlord incident temporarily resolved, Ron and the others decided to rest in Alola for a day before departing for Ecruteak City by plane the next day. They planned to challenge Ron's fourth Gym Badge there.
Later, after returning to Melemele Island, Ron's group visited Principal Oak, planning to stay overnight at the Pokémon School.
Ron also asked Lillie if the egg had hatched yet. Since it was Charmander's offspring, he was naturally concerned.
"It hatched already. Come out, Salandit," Lillie said, releasing a Salandit from a Poké Ball.
Ron checked Salandit's status: a perfect-grade Salandit. That justified the expensive items he'd fed Charmander. It would've been troublesome if Salandit had only hatched with a high-grade aptitude instead.
Moreover, this Salandit was female, capable of evolving into Salazzle. Lillie had trained it well, and it had already reached level 20.
"And this Togepi is very obedient, exactly as you said—a lucky little one," Lillie added, releasing the Togepi Ron had sent her.
Ron also let out his Togepi, and the two Togepi instantly started playing together happily. Ron and Lillie sat beneath a tree, watching the two Togepi play.
Seeing this scene, Ruby and Rosa turned their heads away, whispering through clenched teeth, "They're feeding us dog food again!"
After exchanging a glance, the two promptly went their separate ways, looking for something else to occupy their attention.
