Jenny's heart was pounding as she made her way downstairs. She could hear voices in the living room, and her stomach clenched in nervous anticipation. As she opened the door, she saw a group of people sitting around the coffee table. They all turned to look at her, and her eyes landed on a man and woman sitting in the center of the room. She recognized them as Richard's parents, and she felt a wave of panic wash over her. What was she supposed to say? What if they could see right through her?
"Hello, Jenny," Richard's mother said, her voice was soft and welcoming. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you." Jenny forced a smile and shook the woman's hand.
"It's nice to meet you too," she said, trying to keep her voice steady. But as she turned to Richard's father, she saw a look of suspicion on his face. He was studying her carefully, as if he was trying to determine her true intentions. Jenny felt her palms start to sweat, and she swallowed hard. She had to make a good impression, but how could she do that when she felt so nervous?
" Hope you weren't forced into this marriage by your parents?" Richard's father asked after taking a look at her.
" No sir, I made the decision myself" Jenny replied nervously, playing with her fingers.
" We can never force our children into doing something that they don't want to do" Emma said trying to clear the air. Robert nodded confirming what the wife said.
" I know you must be wondering why we came here so early" Richard's mother said. And Jenny nodded.
" We were so eager to meet the lady who finally accepted to be our son's wife after so many rejections and I'm sure you must have heard a lot about him" Jenny could only nod while looking for Richard with her gaze.
" Where is Richard?" She asked anxiously.
" He's got a lot of work to do so he couldn't make it. But I'm sure you will meet him yourself tomorrow at the registrar's office" Richard's father said with a straight face.
" How?" She asked curiously, while her entire family is still in shock.
" You're getting married tomorrow" he declared, and Jenny's eyes widened in shock. Tomorrow? So soon?
" The date is too soon Mr Logard. Please give some more time?" Robert said, praying inwardly for him to believe.
" The arrangements have been made and the date has been fixed. See you tomorrow miss Anderson"
After a few minutes of small talk, Richard's family began to gather their things and prepare to leave. Richard's father shook Jenny's hand again, and this time his grip was firmer, as if he was trying to convey a message.
"We're glad to have you as part of the family," he said, his voice a little cooler than before. Jenny nodded,m with a dry throat. Richard's mother gave her a quick hug and a warm smile, but there was something in her eyes that made Jenny feel uneasy. And then, just like that, they were gone.
After Richard's family left, Jenny stood in the living room, trying to process what had just happened. She felt a mix of emotions, from relief to anxiety, and everything in between. She turned to Robert, who was watching her closely.
"Are you okay?" he asked with his voice full of concern.
"I know that was probably overwhelming." Jenny nodded, not trusting herself to speak. She wasn't sure what to say, or how to feel. All she knew was that her life had just changed, in ways she couldn't even begin to understand.
As she made her way upstairs, Jenny's thoughts were racing. She wasn't sure if she was ready for this new life, this new role as Richard's wife. What if she wasn't up to the task? What if she couldn't make them happy? She felt overwhelmed and exhausted, and all she wanted to do was crawl into bed and sleep. But as she lay there, staring at the ceiling, she knew that sleep would be hard to come by. She was too caught up in her thoughts, too caught up in the questions that kept swirling around in her head. What if they treat her badly? Richard is rumored to be a devil, how will she cope?. Her mind, soul and body was in until she finally got some sleep.
★★★★ NEXT DAY ~~~ 8am★★★★
Jenny stood in front of the mirror, nervously smoothing down her dress. Today was the day she would finally marry Richard, the man she has never met for once. But as she looked at herself in the mirror, she felt a twinge of fear in her heart. She wasn't sure if she was ready to take this big step. Richard was rumored to a devilish, ruthless and heartless man. What if she wasn't ready to be a wife? What if something went wrong? She tried to shake off her worries, telling herself that everything would be okay. She was trying to put on her shoes when the door handle twitched and Amy walked looking gorgeous as if she was a bride.
" Congrats sis. I would have loved to be at your wedding but I have a lot to do at the company, so I will see you later. Make sure you take a lot of pictures and send to me" She smirked, knowing well that she won't be able to take any pictures.
" I will. Thanks" Jenny said, checking her one last time before walking out of room.
Amy glared at her angrily, hating the fact that she was more beautiful than her even after so attempt's to look more pretty and sexier than her but all it was all in vain. She smiled devilishly thinking of how her life will be after her marriage with a heartless billionaire.
Amy gracefully walked passed her family, entered her car left after biding them goodbye, while Jenny and her family set out to the registrar's office where Jenny's life will be changed forever. Either for good or for bad!
