"So… how do we do this?" Oliver asked, shuffling awkwardly beside me as we walked to school.
I raised an eyebrow. "Do what?"
"You know… talk? Be normal? Not have you think I'm secretly hiding in your bushes?"
I snorted. "Step one: Stop saying things like that."
"Right. Got it." He nodded seriously, then tripped over a rock.
I sighed. "This is gonna be a process."

At School…
Lena leaned over my desk. "Soooo… what's it like having a former stalker as a friend?"
I shot her a look. "He wasn't a stalker."
Daniel, sitting behind me, scoffed. "He literally said he's been watching you for years."
Lena smirked. "That's, like, diet-stalking."
I groaned. "Can we not?"
Too late. Across the room, Oliver was standing by his desk, nervously watching me.
Lena waved at him. "Hey, loverboy!"
Oliver flinched, then panicked and knocked over his entire desk.
The class went dead silent.
Our teacher sighed. "Mr. Carter, are you allergic to stability?"
Oliver scrambled to pick up his books, his face brighter than the sun.
Lena cackled. "This is better than TV."

Lunch Break: Operation Impress Amelia (A.K.A. Ultimate Failure)
I sat at my usual table when Oliver suddenly plopped down across from me. "Hi."
Lena smirked. "Oh, he's bold now."
"I am," Oliver said, determined. Then he cleared his throat and gave me what I assume was supposed to be a charming smile. "Soooo, Amelia. I heard you like coffee."
I blinked. "Uh… yeah?"
"Great. Because I made you one."
Before I could respond, he pulled out a travel mug and dramatically slid it toward me.
I stared at it. "You made this?"
"Yep!" He grinned. "All by myself."
Lena leaned forward. "Did you taste it first?"
Oliver hesitated. "...No?"
Daniel sighed. "God help us."
I shrugged and took a sip.
Then I immediately spat it back out.
"OH MY GOD," I choked. "WHAT IS THAT?"
Oliver looked horrified. "It's… it's coffee?"
Daniel sniffed the mug. "Dude, this smells like death."
Lena gasped. "Wait. What did you put in it?"
Oliver frowned. "Uh… coffee… water… sugar… and… salt?"
We all stared at him.
"WHY SALT?" I shrieked.
He panicked. "I thought it would balance the sweetness?"
Daniel sighed. "And this is why you've been single your entire life."
I groaned, pushing the mug back. "I appreciate the effort, but if you ever try to poison me again, I'm reporting you to the authorities."
Oliver nodded solemnly. "Understood."
Lena smirked. "You two are adorable."
I kicked her under the table.

Later That Night…
I collapsed onto my bed, rubbing my temples. What even was today?
Whiskers appeared at my window, flicking his tail. "Well, that was painful to watch."
I groaned. "Tell me about it."
He grinned. "But you liked it."
I huffed. "Shut up, furball."
Whiskers purred. "Ohhh, this is gonna be fun."
I threw a pillow at him.
He dodged.
I was doomed.
