Chapter 02

Luan stared out the carriage window, lost in thought. How had this even happened? What was he supposed to do now?

'So I've become Luan Meskevela in Sigil Online... but I don't even remember him. Well, I was a casual player. I didn't touch the actual story.' He mused mockingly. 'If I had known this would happen, I would've grinded like an addict, memorized every bug, strategy, and important character.

But alas, there's nothing he could do now, but it's not like he actually needed to have played the game; he was still a duke's son in one of the biggest empires on the planet. And he had miraculously awakened two powerful sigils.

While he was going over everything that had just happened and tried to make sense of the situation, his parents were sitting next to each other opposite to him and looked worried.

"Are you feeling alright now, Luan?" Hana asked, a tender look in her eyes.

Snapping out of his daze, Luan nodded. "Yes, Mom, I'm fine. It was probably a side effect of awakening two sigils, the headache."

Hana felt a little better after seeing Luan acting like he was fine, but she still wouldn't take any risks.

"When we arrive at the mansion, I need you to not try your sigils out before tomorrow, okay? Even though you might feel perfectly fine, there is no need to take unnecessary risks." She stated, glancing toward Drago.

She nudged him, and Drago just sighed, "Listen to your mom. When we get home, we'll let you choose a couple of servants that will serve you for the rest of your life, like with your brothers."

Hearing that, Luan couldn't help but smile. Personal servants, huh? Well, I guess that makes sense in a world with a medieval setting.

"Okay, I'll rest today and start trying my sigil abilities only after I'm certain that I'm fully healed." He replied, a silly smile on his face.

Hana was relieved after hearing Luan say that and leaned her head on Drago's shoulder, closing her eyes.

Drago looked at Hana with a grin on his face. "She's so beautiful, isn't she?" He mumbled to no one in particular.

"You know I can hear you right." Luan bluntly remarked.

"I know, but am I wrong? I really struck gold by finding and marrying her." Drago whispered, his chest swelling with pride.

Luan just stared at him, not knowing what to say. "Are you bragging to your own son about how you married my mom?"

Drago's cheeks reddened a little after Luan spelled out what he had just done. "If you say it like that, it sounds stupid, doesn't it?"

Yes, it does. Very stupid, in fact," Luan deadpanned, before glancing at Hana, who had buried her face behind her hands in embarrassment.

Instinctively, he reached for his pocket, intending to grab his phone and snap a picture of her reaction only to come up empty.

'Ah, right... no phones in Sigil Online. That's going to take some getting used to.' Shrugging it off, he closed his eyes and nestled into the cushioned seat of the carriage.

Hana and Drago looked at him with a smile, "Looks like I might have overreacted in the cathedral when he collapsed." Hana muttered.

Drago started patting her head as he shook his head. "No, it's good to be careful he did awaken two sigils so we didn't know what could have happened."

With a bright smile, he continued. "You did great, Hana. Just look at Luan; he felt so safe that he fell fast asleep right after he almost collapsed. That means he feels safe here. And we'll keep it that way no matter what kind of storms happen in the future."

Hana nodded, hearing Drago's words. "But dear? Why were you bragging about marrying me to Luan?" she inquired.

"Ah, um. Well, you see… I was simply setting an example of how a husband should treat his wife!" Drago mumbled. trying to avoid Hana's gaze.

"It was? Can you say that while looking me dead in the eyes?" Hana countered.

Drago just kept looking out the window. "Ah, would you look at that? Isn't that the imperial palace? It's so majestic."

But Hana wasn't having it. Pinching both of his cheeks, she glared at him with reddish cheeks.

"Wake up, Luan; we have arrived." Hana whispered, tapping his shoulder to gently wake him up.

Groggily, Luan opened his eyes, taking in his surroundings; he saw a huge mansion with servants running around carrying the luggage.

The mansion looked almost like a castle, and in front of it was a beautiful garden with a fountain in the center.

Luan was speechless; he expected a big house, but this shattered all his expectations. He just stared at it for a while until he saw his parents walk toward the mansion.

He snapped out of his daze and exited the carriage, following closely behind them.

"What now?" he muttered, not knowing what to do next.

"Well, of course that is to decide your personal servants; we can't have you going around like some peasant on your own. We are from the Meskevela household! Only the best is approved." Hana declared, a proud smile tugging at her lips.

"Indeed, only the best. And Luan, the same goes for you. We have high expectations for you, especially after awakening two sigils and gaining the approval of the head priest. Who is notorious for his difficult personality?" Added Drago, a serious look on his face.

Luan followed them as they entered the mansion, greeted by many servants. On the right stood tens of hundreds of butlers dressed to a T, and on the left stood beautiful women dressed in traditional maid outfits in black and white.

Luan audibly gasped at this sight; he had expected a couple, like maybe five or ten total servants he could choose from, but this was insane.

"Mom... do I have to choose between all these different servants?" He mumbled, hoping she would say no.

Hana turned toward Luan, a broad smile on her face. "You're sharp, Luan. That's right, you will have to choose between all these servants, but don't worry, we have documented everything about them, and you can just go over those documents. And if you want to know more about them, you can always ask some questions as well."
