Gen woke up early, stretching on the couch. She yawned and looked towards the bedroom door, which was still closed. A lazy smirk spread across her face.
Should I wake her up?
She got up and walked towards the door, pushing it open slightly. Lee was still sleeping, curled up under the blanket. Her hair was a mess, and her face looked peaceful.
Gen leaned against the doorframe, watching her. "So cute," she whispered.
Lee suddenly shifted and opened her eyes, squinting. "Why are you staring at me?"
Gen grinned. "I was admiring my beautiful wife."
Lee groaned and pulled the blanket over her head. "Go away."
Gen chuckled. "Fine, fine. But I made breakfast."
Lee peeked out. "You cooked?"
Gen smirked. "Yup. First breakfast in our new home."
Lee slowly sat up, rubbing her eyes. "If it's bad, I'm throwing it away."
Gen gasped dramatically. "You doubt my skills? I'm hurt."
Lee ignored her and got out of bed. "Let's see."
Kitchen Disaster
When they reached the kitchen, Lee froze at the sight before her.
Flour covered the counter like snow. Eggshells were scattered everywhere. A bottle of milk was lying on its side, dripping onto the floor. There was even a pancake stuck to the ceiling.
Lee rubbed her temples. "Gen…"
Gen smiled sheepishly. "Uh… surprise?"
Lee pointed at the mess. "You're a chef! How did this happen?"
Gen shrugged. "I got excited. New home, new kitchen, first breakfast as a married couple—I wanted it to be perfect."
Lee stepped carefully over a puddle of spilled syrup. "This is not perfect."
Gen picked up a plate of pancakes and held them out. "Ignore the mess. Taste first."
Lee sighed, sitting down. She picked up a fork and took a bite.
Gen leaned closer, watching her expression. "Well?"
Lee chewed, then nodded. "It's… good."
Gen grinned. "Of course! I'm a professional."
Lee pointed at the disaster zone. "A professional would not destroy a kitchen like this."
Gen pouted. "Cooking is an art. Art is messy."
Lee stood up. "Clean. Now."
Gen groaned. "But—"
Lee crossed her arms. "No buts."
Gen sighed dramatically. "Fine, fine. But you're helping."
Lee frowned. "Why would I—"
Gen grabbed her wrist and pulled her closer. "Because we're married. And marriage is all about sharing responsibilities."
Lee stared at her. "That's the worst excuse I've ever heard."
Gen smirked. "But it worked."
Lee sighed. "I hate you."
Gen chuckled. "Nah, you love me."
Lee shook her head, but a tiny smile appeared.
A Normal Day?
After cleaning the kitchen (mostly Gen cleaning while Lee supervised), they both got ready.
Lee sat on the couch, checking her phone. "I have a few things to do today. What about you?"
Gen stretched. "I'll be at the restaurant. Gotta make sure everything's running smoothly."
Lee nodded. "Alright."
Gen sat beside her. "Hey, wanna have dinner together tonight?"
Lee hesitated. "We live together. Isn't that normal?"
Gen grinned. "True. But I mean a proper dinner. Just us."
Lee thought for a moment. "Fine."
Gen pumped her fist. "Yes! It's a date."
Lee sighed. "It's just dinner."
Gen smirked. "Sure, babe. Whatever you say."
Lee shook her head, hiding a small smile.
