Chapter 37: Getting Used to Gen

Lee sat on the couch, flipping through her medical journal while sipping tea. It had been a long day, but at least home felt… normal now.

Gen walked in, stretching. "Babe, I'm starving. What's for dinner?"

Lee didn't even flinch at the nickname. "Didn't you just eat snacks an hour ago?"

Gen pouted. "That was just an appetizer. I need real food."

Lee sighed. "Then cook something."

Gen grinned. "Nah. I want my sweet, adorable wife to make it for me."

Lee turned a page. "Not happening."

Gen flopped onto the couch dramatically. "You're so heartless, darling."

Lee didn't even look up. "Yes."

Gen rolled over to face her. "Say, wifey, if you cook for me, I'll reward you with a kiss."

Lee gave her a blank stare. "You just want me to do all the work."

Gen winked. "And you just want the kiss, don't you?"

Lee threw a pillow at her. "Shut up."

Gen laughed but didn't push further. Instead, she got up and walked to the kitchen.

Dinner and Small Talks

Thirty minutes later, Gen placed two bowls of ramen on the table.

Lee sat down, eyeing her suspiciously. "No disasters?"

Gen smirked. "I kept it simple for you, my love."

Lee rolled her eyes but took a bite. "It's good."

Gen smiled. "Of course it is. I'm a genius."

They ate quietly for a while, then Gen spoke. "Hey, Lee."

"Hm?"

"Do you ever think about what life would've been like if we never met?"

Lee looked at her. "Why are you asking that?"

Gen shrugged. "Just wondering."

Lee thought for a moment. "It would be… quieter."

Gen gasped dramatically. "You mean boring?"

Lee smirked. "Yes."

Gen grinned. "Admit it, you love my company."

Lee didn't answer. She just kept eating.

Gen leaned closer. "Say it, babe. Just once."

Lee put down her chopsticks. "Eat your food, sweetheart."

Gen froze. Then she smirked. "Oh? Are you flirting with me now?"

Lee sighed. "I regret it already."

Gen chuckled. "Too late, darling. I like it when you play along."

Lee shook her head, hiding a small smile.

Night Routine

Later, after cleaning up, they got ready for bed.

Gen sat on the couch, stretching. "Y'know, our bed is big enough for two."

Lee raised an eyebrow. "So?"

Gen grinned. "So… why don't we share?"

Lee crossed her arms. "You snore."

Gen gasped. "I do not."

Lee smirked. "You also kick in your sleep."

Gen pouted. "Lies. I sleep like an angel."

Lee sighed. "The couch is yours."

Gen sighed dramatically. "So cruel."

Lee turned off the lights and went to bed.

As Gen lay on the couch, she whispered, "Goodnight, wifey."

Lee's voice came from the bedroom. "Go to sleep, Gen."

Gen smiled. "You didn't say no this time."

Lee groaned, but Gen knew—Lee was getting used to her.
