It was a quiet morning, and Gen was just finishing up her coffee when the doorbell rang.
She glanced at Lee, who was sitting on the couch reading something on her tablet. "Expecting someone?"
Lee shook her head.
Gen shrugged and went to open the door. The moment she did, she barely had time to react before she was pulled into a tight hug.
"Gen!"
A familiar voice rang in her ears, and Gen laughed. "Nam! You're finally back!"
Nam pulled away, grinning. "You got married, and I wasn't even there? What kind of best friend does that?"
Gen smirked. "The kind who knew you'd crash the wedding and steal the spotlight."
Nam scoffed. "Please, as if I'd do that." Then she paused. "Actually… yeah, I probably would have."
Lee, who had gotten up and walked over, sighed. "You really would have."
Nam turned to Lee and smiled. "Lee! I see you survived marriage with this one." She jabbed her thumb at Gen.
Lee crossed her arms. "Barely."
Gen gasped dramatically. "Babe, how could you say that?"
Lee gave her a blank look. "Easily."
Nam laughed. "I missed this." She walked inside and plopped onto the couch. "Alright, tell me everything. I want details."
Gen sat beside her, grinning. "Where do I even start?"
Lee sighed, taking a seat as well. She had a feeling this was going to be a long conversation.
Chapter 46: Dinner at Wang's House
After spending the afternoon catching up with Nam, Gen and Lee got ready to visit Wang Yan's house for dinner.
"Are you sure we can't cancel?" Gen asked as she adjusted her shirt in the mirror.
Lee rolled her eyes. "She invited us. We can't say no."
Gen sighed. "But what if she asks us about… progress again?"
Lee raised an eyebrow. "Then you answer, since you love teasing her."
Gen smirked. "Good point."
Lee shook her head. "Just behave."
Gen gasped. "Babe! Do you know me at all?"
Lee gave her a look. "That's why I'm saying it."
Gen laughed, grabbing her keys. "Alright, let's go before your mom thinks we ran away."
They headed out, ready for whatever chaos awaited them at Wang's house.
A Night in Lee's Room
When they arrived at Wang's house, dinner went smoothly—for the most part. Wang had asked about their life together, and Gen, as usual, answered in her playful way while Lee tried to keep things under control.
After dinner, Wang stood up and stretched. "It's late. You two should stay the night."
Lee nodded. "Alright."
Gen blinked in surprise. "Wait, we?"
Wang gave her a look. "Obviously. Where else would you go at this hour?"
Gen grinned. "Oh, I don't mind staying. I just didn't expect to sleep in your childhood home."
Lee sighed. "Don't make this a big deal."
Wang smirked. "Lee, take Gen to your room."
Gen's grin widened. "Oh? Your room? Well, well, well."
Lee grabbed Gen's wrist and pulled her along before she could say anything else.
Surprised by the Room
The moment Gen stepped into Lee's bedroom, her eyes widened in surprise.
"Whoa…"
The room was neat, simple, and organized. The walls had a few old posters, and a shelf lined with medical books sat near the desk. The bed was perfectly made, and everything looked untouched—like it had been frozen in time.
Gen whistled. "This room is so you."
Lee closed the door behind them. "What does that mean?"
Gen turned to her with a smirk. "Clean, professional, and kinda adorable."
Lee ignored her and walked over to the bed. "Just go to sleep."
Gen, of course, had other plans.
Gen's Teasing Escalates
As soon as Lee sat on the bed, Gen flopped down beside her, resting her head on Lee's shoulder.
Lee tensed. "Gen."
"Hm?" Gen hummed, nuzzling closer. "Your bed is comfy."
Lee sighed. "Don't start."
Gen turned to face her, smirking. "Why not? We're married now. Shouldn't we celebrate?"
Lee glared at her. "No."
Gen pouted. "You're no fun."
She leaned in closer, her fingers tracing small circles on Lee's arm. "Just a little kiss?"
Lee grabbed Gen's wrist, stopping her. "Go. To. Sleep."
Gen grinned. "Make me."
Lee groaned and pushed her away, but Gen wasn't giving up that easily. She moved forward again, this time making it clear she was going to steal a kiss.
Lee put a hand on Gen's face, stopping her just inches away. "Gen, stop."
Just then—
Knock, knock.
The door creaked open, and Wang walked in. "Lee, I—"
Her words stopped immediately when she saw the scene before her:
Gen was practically on top of Lee, her face just inches away, while Lee was pushing her away with both hands.
The room fell into awkward silence.
Wang blinked. "…"
Lee froze. "…"
Gen grinned. "Oh. Hey, Mom."
Wang slowly closed the door without another word.
Silence.
Then—
Lee shoved Gen off her. "This is your fault!"
Gen burst out laughing. "Totally worth it."
