The evening had been peaceful, too peaceful.
Gen and Lee had finally gotten some alone time in their apartment, and as always, Gen wasted no time in taking full advantage of the situation.
Lee was pinned beneath her on the couch, her shirt already discarded somewhere on the floor. Gen hovered over her, smiling as she trailed soft kisses down her neck.
"Gen—" Lee gasped, her hands gripping Gen's shoulders.
"Shh, babe," Gen murmured, her lips teasingly brushing against Lee's collarbone. "Just focus on me."
Lee was about to say something when—
Click. Beep.
The sound of the door unlocking made both of them freeze.
Then—
The door swung open.
Wang Yan stepped inside, completely unfazed, carrying a bag of food. "I brought—"
She stopped.
Gen, still hovering over a half-naked Lee, turned her head in slow-motion, her eyes widening.
Lee let out a strangled gasp and immediately grabbed the nearest pillow, pressing it against her chest in sheer panic.
For a full five seconds, no one moved.
Then Wang exhaled loudly, setting the food down on the counter. "Why," she said, rubbing her temples, "do I always walk in at the worst times?"
Lee, her face completely red, groaned. "Mom! Why do you even know our passcode?!"
Wang gave her a deadpan look. "Because I paid for half of this place, and I didn't think I needed permission to visit my own daughter."
Gen quickly sat up, running a hand through her hair awkwardly. "I'm really sorry, Mom. We weren't expecting anyone."
Wang sighed. "Clearly."
Lee covered her face in embarrassment. "Mom, please just—just pretend you didn't see anything."
Wang shook her head, muttering, "I should've known better than to enter without warning."
Gen, now fully dressed, walked over to Wang with a small smile. "I truly apologize, Mom. I should have been more careful."
Wang studied Gen for a moment before letting out a long sigh. "I suppose I should start knocking before coming in. But still, you two should at least lock the door."
Lee groaned. "Can we please never talk about this again?"
Wang scoffed. "Oh, don't worry, Lee. I plan to erase this moment from my memory."
Gen nodded sincerely. "I'll make sure this doesn't happen again, Mom. I respect you a lot, and I don't want to make you uncomfortable."
Wang's expression softened slightly. "Good. Now that we've cleared that up, can we sit and talk? I didn't come all the way here just to be traumatized."
Lee sighed. "You're staying for dinner, aren't you?"
Wang smirked. "Obviously."
Gen chuckled, pulling Lee into a comforting side hug. "Alright, let's get things back to normal."
Wang rolled her eyes. "Please. Nothing about this is normal."
Lee groaned again. This is my life now.
And honestly? She wouldn't change a thing.
No More Interruptions
As soon as the door closed behind Wang, Lee let out a deep sigh and buried her face in her hands.
"That was so embarrassing," she mumbled, her voice muffled.
Gen, on the other hand, was grinning as she leaned against the couch, arms crossed. "I mean… it could've been worse."
Lee lifted her head, giving her a glare. "How exactly could it have been worse?"
Gen smirked, leaning in close. "She could've walked in five minutes later."
Lee's face turned even redder. "Gen!"
Laughing, Gen took Lee's hands and gently pulled them away from her face. "Relax, babe. She left. It's just you and me now."
Lee hesitated, still recovering from the shock. "Yeah, but I feel like my soul left my body for a second there."
Gen chuckled and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. "Well, let me bring it back, then."
Lee blinked, watching as Gen's teasing smile turned into something softer, more affectionate.
"Come here," Gen murmured, pulling Lee back onto her lap.
Lee let out a small gasp as Gen's arms wrapped around her waist, holding her close. The warmth, the scent of her, the way Gen's fingertips traced small circles on her back—it was impossible to resist.
"You were saying something earlier," Gen whispered, her lips brushing against Lee's cheek.
Lee swallowed hard. "I… I don't remember."
Gen chuckled, trailing her fingers down Lee's back, her lips now moving to her jaw. "Guess I'll have to remind you."
Lee shivered, tilting her head slightly as Gen's lips continued their slow, deliberate path. Her breath hitched when Gen's hands moved lower, pressing her even closer.
"Gen," she breathed, her fingers gripping Gen's shoulders.
"Hmm?" Gen hummed, her voice low and teasing as she nibbled Lee's earlobe.
Lee's head spun. Just moments ago, she had been mortified, but now… now she couldn't think straight.
Gen smirked. "See? All forgotten."
Lee bit her lip, trying to glare at her but failing miserably. "You're impossible."
"And you love me for it," Gen whispered before capturing Lee's lips in a deep, slow kiss.
Lee melted instantly, her arms tightening around Gen's neck as she kissed her back, all embarrassment from earlier long gone.
This time, there were no interruptions. No unexpected visitors. No awkward conversations.
Just the two of them, lost in each other.
And that was exactly how Gen wanted it to be.
