Chapter 26: The Dangerous Trap

Irene chased along the passage on the right. The passage was filled with a damp smell, and water droplets were constantly dripping from the walls, making a tick - tock sound. Her heart was beating faster, and she held her gun tighter, watching everything around her vigilantly.

Suddenly, she felt a void under her feet, and she fell into a trap. The bottom of the trap was filled with sharp bamboo sticks. In the moment of falling, Irene protected her body with her arm, avoiding being stabbed by the bamboo sticks. But her arm was still scratched by several cuts, and blood was flowing.

"Damn it!" Irene cursed in a low voice. She tried to climb out of the trap, but the trap was too deep, and there was no place to gain leverage. She looked up at the top of the trap and found that the trap entrance was covered by a huge wooden board, leaving only a small gap through which a faint ray of light came in.

Just then, she heard the sound of footsteps approaching from a distance. She knew that it must be the mysterious shadow coming back. She quickly adjusted her state, ready to face the impending danger.

The footsteps got closer, and the shadow appeared at the entrance of the trap. He looked down at Irene in the trap and let out a sinister laugh. "You thought you could catch me? You're so naive." The shadow's voice was low and hoarse, as if coming from hell.

Irene glared at the shadow and said, "You can't escape. I will uncover your true face and bring you to justice!"

The shadow laughed again. "Let's see if you have the ability." After saying that, he turned and left.

Irene struggled in the trap. She knew that she had to find a way to escape as soon as possible, or the consequences would be disastrous.
