Chapter 0065: A Furious Street Battle with Mutated Dogs

Di Ping, accompanied by Gina, reached the entrance of the supermarket. Following Gina's direction, he observed the scene: sure enough, five or six mutated dogs of various breeds were prowling the streets, sniffing around and occasionally entering nearby shops to rummage through things. However, their large size caused them to knock over tables and shelves, causing a cacophony of crashes. It seemed they were searching for food.

At this moment, Yue Lie and Liu Han had also caught up and stood behind Di Ping, following his gaze. Upon seeing the five or six mutated dogs, each as large as tigers, their bodies stiffened, and they instinctively shrank back. A chill ran through them as if cold water had been poured over their heads. The courage they had mustered earlier quickly dissipated.

Suddenly, Gina took a step forward, intending to move out. However, Di Ping raised his hand to stop her. It wasn't his style to send a woman into danger at the first sign of trouble. Moreover, he wanted to hone his skills and gain more combat experience. There was a constant sense of urgency in him, as if the world was becoming increasingly dangerous. He felt that if he didn't grow quickly, survival in this post-apocalyptic world would become exceedingly difficult.

Gina obediently halted, and Di Ping, much to the bewilderment of Yue Lie and Liu Han, calmly walked out of the supermarket. He descended the stairs and stood in the center of the street, silently observing the mutated dogs in the distance.

"Is... is he crazy?" Liu Han stared at Di Ping in disbelief, his eyes wide as he stammered.

"Maybe... maybe," Yue Lie murmured, equally confused. He couldn't understand why anyone would walk into danger like that.

Initially, both men had thought that Di Ping and Gina were highly capable due to the overwhelming aura Di Ping had exuded earlier. It had been something only a legendary martial arts master could generate. But now, seeing them standing in the street, they were beginning to wonder if the two were, in fact, insane.

Did they really think the mutated dogs were their relatives?

"That's it, we're done for," they exchanged a look, both of them reading the same sense of helplessness and sorrow in each other's eyes.

"Shut up!" A soft but scolding voice suddenly interrupted their thoughts. Gina was glaring at them coldly. Anyone who dared to show disrespect to her master was, in her eyes, showing disrespect to herself. She was tempted to kick both of them out of the way for their insolence.

"Sorry!" Liu Han and Yue Lie immediately recognized Gina's displeasure. Her face, as beautiful as it was, was now frozen with ice, and her piercing blue eyes glittered with a chilling, almost otherworldly glow. The two men trembled and immediately fell silent.

"Woo woo..."

As soon as Di Ping, a living human, stepped into the street, it was as if he were a giant five-kilowatt lightbulb. The mutated dogs immediately noticed him, and a cacophony of howls erupted as they alerted their pack.

"Woo woo..."

The mutated dogs that had been scavenging stopped what they were doing and rushed out onto the street. Upon seeing Di Ping standing there, they began howling ferociously, their blood-red eyes burning with bloodlust. Their claws scraped against the ground in anticipation, ready to pounce.

At that moment, a massive yellow wolfdog, as large as a mule, burst out from one of the stores. Clearly, this was the leader. Upon its appearance, the five other mutated dogs retreated a few steps, growling in response. The wolfdog stood in front, its blood-red eyes locked onto Di Ping, and it growled lowly, its mouth opening to reveal sharp, white teeth dripping with saliva.

This breed of wolfdog was common in China, a hybrid of wolves and dogs. Many police dogs in China were of this breed. Fierce and intelligent, they had gained notoriety for their ferocity. These dogs were known to be capable of facing even tigers or wolves in battle. After mutation, they had grown to the size of an adult human, with the strength to overwhelm anyone who faced them.

"Woo woo..."

Suddenly, the wolfdog threw its head back and howled. The sound reverberated through the air. The five mutated dogs behind it seemed to receive an order, their bodies tensing as they prepared to charge. With a loud burst, they launched themselves toward Di Ping, like cannonballs hurtling through the air.

"Flame Reinforcement!"

Di Ping was ready for a quick and decisive battle. The square was too close, and the wolfdog's howl might attract dozens of other mutated dogs from the area. Without further hesitation, he activated his skills. His hand gripped the Han sword, and a surge of fiery red energy spread across the blade.

The flame was fascinating. Although it appeared to burn fiercely, it did not harm the sword itself. But when it made contact with an object, the scorching heat was formidable. The moment the sword struck, the blood on the blade was sealed by the intense heat, leaving no trace of the injury.

"What the hell is that?" Liu Han watched, stunned, as the Han sword in Di Ping's hand suddenly ignited with flames. The sword's blade seemed to burn with fiery energy, and he was left dumbfounded.

Initially, both men had been ready to flee into the supermarket, believing Di Ping to be foolish for waiting to die. But seeing the sudden transformation of the sword, they hesitated. They were now more confused than ever. What was going on?

Before they could even react, the mutated dogs, now moving faster than lightning, covered the distance between them and Di Ping in an instant. Yue Lie and Liu Han, observing this speed, realized how lucky they were to have escaped the last encounter.

"Impact!"

Di Ping stood motionless, his sword still hanging by his side, the flames roaring as the mutated dogs drew near, now only twenty meters away. With a powerful shout, he launched himself forward like a bullet leaving a barrel. The impact of his leap shattered the cement floor beneath him, sending shards of concrete flying.

"Bang!"

The deafening sound echoed as one of the mutated dogs was struck head-on, sent flying like a rhino charging. It didn't even have time to scream, its blood spraying through the air.
