Slipping Through Fingers

Rina pushed herself up again, gritting her teeth. Sybil stood there, completely unbothered, as if this was all just a game.

Briggs shouted through the comms, "We need to contain her, now!"

The soldiers moved in, rifles raised, but before they could fire, Sybil lifted her hand. A sudden wave of force blasted outward, sending everyone flying backward. Vehicles flipped. Windows shattered.

Rina barely managed to stay on her feet, bracing against the invisible impact. "Shit—hold your fire! She's too strong right now!"

Sybil smirked. "How disappointing, Captain. I expected more of a challenge."

Then she vanished.

Just like that.

A blur of movement. A faint shimmer in the air. And she was gone.

Rina cursed. Hard.

Briggs groaned from where he had landed. "Please tell me we at least got a tracker on her."

One of the techs checked their device. "Negative. She jammed everything before she left."

Silence.

Sybil got away.

Rina exhaled, hands clenched. "Not for long."
