No More Secrets

The hospital doors burst open as Rina stormed inside, carrying Briggs over her shoulder. Nurses and doctors rushed forward, their eyes wide with alarm.

"Gunshot wound. He needs immediate attention."

They wasted no time, whisking Briggs onto a stretcher and rolling him toward the emergency room. Rina followed closely, arms crossed, her face blank but her mind was a storm of thoughts.

Minutes stretched into an eternity, but finally, a doctor approached. "He's stable. The bullet missed any vital organs. He just needs rest."

Rina exhaled, finally allowing herself to breathe.

She stepped into the hospital room. Briggs was sitting up, bandages wrapped around his side. He looked at her with an unreadable expression.

Before he could speak, Rina turned to the doctor. "Leave us."

The doctor hesitated.

"Now."

With a nod, the doctor walked out, closing the door behind him.

Silence.

Briggs stared at her, arms resting on the hospital bed. "So."

Rina folded her arms, standing at the foot of his bed. "No more bullshit. No more guessing. You want answers?"

Briggs nodded. "Yeah. I think I deserve that much."

Rina's jaw tightened. "…Alright."

She took a deep breath.

"I'm not normal, Briggs. Never was."
