Rina exhaled sharply, running a hand through her hair. "I'm not like Pulse Red or anything, Briggs." Her voice was low but firm.
Briggs didn't say anything. He just stared, waiting.
Rina stepped closer, eyes locked onto his. "You can't tell this to anyone. Ever."
Briggs scoffed. "You think I'd just start blabbering? Rina what the hell even are you?"
She clenched her jaw.
"I don't know."
That was the truth. The only truth she could give him.
Briggs shook his head, letting out a dry laugh. "You flew, Rina. You crashed through a damn helicopter like it was made of paper. And that armor where the hell did that come from?!"
Rina didn't answer immediately. She just stared at the floor.
Briggs exhaled, pressing a hand to his bandaged side. "I knew you were different, but I didn't think—" He cut himself off, then met her gaze. "Are you even human?"
That question hung in the air between them.
