Lunara lives with a curse—everyone she loves meets a tragic end. Betrayed by her only friend, Selene, and abandoned by her parents, Lunara feels there is no reason left to live.  

On a night under the light of a blue moon, she stands at the edge of a bridge, ready to end it all. But as she falls, a fox spirit with long white hair and glowing blue eyes catches her.

As soon as Rei took off the chains, I knew this was my chance to escape. I ran as fast as I could, but I didn't get far.

Before I could even reach the door, Rei grabbed my arm and stopped me. My heart sank. He had caught me again.

"Let me go!" I pouted, trying to pull away. "Please!"

Rei just smiled softly. "Not this time," he said calmly. "Stay in my kingdom. Humans are so mean to you."

I remembered how the humans treated me. They were cruel, always pushing me around. I sighed and nodded. "Yeah, they're so mean."

So, this is where I belong now... with him.

Without thinking, I followed Rei back to his kingdom. He walked next to me, quiet but still somehow comforting.

I asked, "What should I call you? Rei, or... King?"

He smiled a little. "It's up to you."

"Okay... Rei," I said with a smile.

Rei stopped walking and looked at me with surprise. His expression softened as if remembering something. "Really?" he asked softly. "You called me that so easily..."

I was confused. "Yeah, why?"

Rei chuckled a little, but then I asked him, "Why do you know my name... and who I am?"

I didn't understand. Before I could ask more, Rei seemed to think for a moment. "You'll find out soon," he said. "It's not time yet... just wait."

I nodded, not fully understanding, but I felt there was more to what he was saying.

Later, when night came, I couldn't sleep. I didn't want to be alone. I went into Rei's room.

"Rei, can I sleep here tonight?" I asked, my voice shaky. "I don't like being alone. In the human world, I was always alone."

Rei looked at me and then smiled, nodding. "Of course, you can stay. You're not in the human world anymore. You're safe with me, the Fox Demon King." He said that last part with pride.

I smiled a little, feeling better. "Thank you," I said softly.

Rei smiled back. "You're safe now. You're with me."

I lay down beside him, feeling calm. The fear and loneliness from before started to fade. For the first time, I allowed myself to rest, closing my eyes and sleeping. I finally fell asleep, letting go of the past worries.

Rei whispers "You still look as beautiful as you did 600 years ago," he said, while I was sleeping.

What happened between me and him 600 years ago???
