Ethan had just collected the custom made bracelet he got for Jian which was her name in morse code, she had been in his ear all year about how cool morse code was and that she was going to learn, he passed by a flower shop and decided to get her a bouquet to add to it.
"Hello" the florist cheerful greeted, she was attending to a few bouquets when Ethan walked in she wrapped it up before putting it on the counter and walking towards the customer
"Hello" Ethan greated her back offering a smile
"How can i help you" the lady asked
"I'm looking around for sunflowers and purple tuplis" he answered as he scanned the area again
"For your girlfriend" the lady teased as she walked ahead and Ethan followed, hearing what she said he couldn't help but chuckle, oh how he wished that was true but unfortunately for him it wasn't.
"No" he gave an awkward smile
"You mean not yet" the florist asked with raised brows and a sly smile which made ethan chuckle again, she was indeed one gossipy florist
"She likes someone else" Ethan said dropping the bomb
"Oh" the florist exclaimed speechless, she felt bad with all the teasing ethan noticed and just waved it off it wasn't like she was jabbing at him on purpose
"But you never know" she suddenly said after the silent walk to the tuplis section
"I married the guy i never taught I'll" she smiled as if reminiscing the old times
"Really" Ethan asked as he picked out a few tuplis and blue roses
"Yeah, my best friend i rejected back in highschool days is now the father of my children, who would have taught" she laughed and ethan joined in. As she directed him in the sunflower section he wouldn't help but think that type of miracle may actually find him, imagine him and jian getting married the thought alone filled him with happiness, he hummed as he picked out his flowers to make the bouquet
"Is that all" the woman asked as Ethan passed the flowers for her to wrap it up for him
"Yes" Ethan confirmed after getting his flowers he paid and thanked the lady before walking out to his car.
Seth was having it rough, his car just broke down in the middle of the road and he was still trying to get it started before he'll find another option like call an uber, he was about to just give up because he didn't want to be late, that was when he spotted Ethan walking out of the flower shop with a bouquet Seth found his savior, he closed his car and decided why not hitch a ride and bother Ethan that always lifts his mood so he picked up his stuff and locked his car he left a text to his mechanic to come pick it up before walking towards Ethan's car
Ethan who just put the flower at the back seat and was ready to buckle his seat belt and leave heard a knock on his window when he turned around he almost had a heart attack because it was non other than Seth with a big weird grin on his face as he stared at him through the window.
"Seth" ethan rolled down the window confused, what was this guy doing here anyways
"Hey" Seth waved at him, fully leaning into the window now that it was opened
"What are you doing here" Ethan asked looking around as if he'll find the question to his answers around the guy and he did because seth raised his hand and waved the flower bouquet he got for his jian. Ethan didn't need him to explain more, he understood perfectly and it annoyed him to no ends so much he couldn't help but scoff and glare at Seth who just smiled at him
"Oh i see" he nodded, he was about to close his window and drive off, he initially wanted to ask why he was approached but he didn't want to know anymore this guy probably did that just to gloat at him, what an asshole he thought to himself
"Well I'm here to hitch a ride" Seth answered the question that wasn't asked, Ethan paused as he processed the information that Seth wanted to hitch a ride with him, this guy must be crazy but nonetheless he asked
"Where's your car" Seth shrugged before pointing behind him and in the distance ethan could see the car packed on the side of the road
"So, why not drive it" Ethan asked a bit confused, he had taught Seth wanted to hitch a drive because he didn't bring his car but the car was right here just packed
"Broken down" Seth explained and before ethan could consider whether to let him in or not, seth opened the door and sat in the front seat
"What are you doing" Ethan yelled
"Geez be good to your future brother-in-law" Seth said giving ethan a harmless smile but ethan knew more than anything that wasn't harmless, this guy intends to give him a heart attack with his nonsense tongue
"Wow, looks like your head has grown more than your body" ethan rolled his eyes, he wasn't giving this guy a ride even though he considered it at first
"You should treat me right" Seth said nodding at him as if he was reprimanding a child and that pissed ethan even more
"Just shut up before i throw you out" he said to seth through gritted teeth and seth nodded like a happy child literally just ten minutes into the drive, seth began again asking ethan all types of questions about jian
"Why don't you ask her yourself" Ethan said refusing to answer anything
"Well, your the best friend" Seth said stretching the best friend which made ethan upset, yes he lost and it hurt, it hurts really bad but he'll learn to live with it and try to move on. He wouldn't let 21 years of friendship just dwindle like that because his feeling were not reciprocated, he sighed
"Don't talk to me" this time he voice wasn't playful and he wasn't in the mood, Seth got the signal and after that the drive was silent until they reached the venue.
