Chole walked to the back where Ethan had kept his gift, he was finding for an opportunity to be with Jian alone so he can give it to her.
"Hey" chole called out when she was close enough for just the both of them to hear
"Yeah" Ethan answered unknownly whispering too and looking around, why was chole acting shady he wondered with raised brows
"How much did that coast though" she asked pointing at jian who was busy taking videos and singing along to the music with Rita and Juliet, everyone was having fun taking pictures or snacking on the snacks and vibing to the music, it was just how jian liked it a fun small circle of friends having fun
"What" Ethan asked confused
"The dress" chole turned to him that's when he noticed the extra confusion on his face, chole had insisted that she'll buy the surprise dress when Ethan was the one that booked and paid for the DEx and even contributed more money in the shopping chole didn't want to feel like she didn't do anything so she insisted let her be the one to buy the dress, the dress she had ordered for Jia wasn't cheap though and it was from the same designer but it wasn't close to the one she was wearing
"You didn't get it" Chole asked as she frown and Ethan shook his head
"Maybe Seth did" Ethan said with gritted teeth, if Seth did that would annoy the hell out of him and why would jian even hear the dress he bought her instead the one chole bought her, he shook his head if the outcome came to that then it was either chole's package arrived late and jian haven't received it but there won't be a seth and chole option and she'll pick Seth's over chole's
"No, no, she texted me saying she got the package" chole explained and Ethan nodded
"If not him then maybe bianca" Ethan suggested, bianca had wanted to join the surprise but couldn't make it so she told them she'll send jian a gift she also contributed to the surprise party by booking the mystery room and paying for all the designs or anything needed to be done there
"Or even Stephanie" chole nodded as if she was trying to solve a case
"Where's she btw" Ethan asked
"Oh she's about an hour away, very soon" chole informed before there conversation would go further, mina waved chole over,
"Come on, were taking photos" she yelled above the music chole smiled before running over to join them. Did mina call her out of goodwill not to miss the photos, probably not she noticed they were digging into the dress and if they dug further they'll realize non of them sent the dress and if they dug even further she might get exposed she had to cut the wings before the conversation would fly.
Ethan, now left alone couldn't help smile as he stared at jian having the time of her life, everyone was though even Fiona was moving her body to the rhythm of the beat as she packed her plate with snacks, the only person who was as lost as him staring with a smile was seth, he hated to admit it but the guy was in love as much as he was, he sighed and decided just to get some fresh air and come back in, he didn't want to miss the celebration but he felt like he couldn't breath well, so he walked out to the back, to the little flower garden. Jian noticed when Ethan walked out, she haven't thanked the guy for his efforts and looked like he was feeling too down so she decided to go check on him,
"I'll be back" she said to the group and they all nodded, she looked around and smiled, today was indeed the best day and she hoped nothing would spoil it for her,
"Hey" she called and Ethan turned around, he looked surprised that she walked out to follow him
"What is the birthday girl doing out here" he asked as he waited for her go catch up
"You look beautiful" he complimented and jian couldn't help blush, she could literally feel the sincerity in his voice
"What, you're just complimenting me now" she joked rolling her eyes and pretending to be mad but she literally had the biggest grin and her cheeks were flustered red aswell
"If you look like that, how can i move on" he joked and jian gave him a hit on the arm, he immediately whined pretending it hurt which left jian speechless,this drama king she thought
"Come" Ethan said after his whole dramatic episode, he grabbed Jian's hand and walked her towards a bench in the garden, she didn't protest and just followed
"Wait I'll be back" Ethan said excited as he rushed back in, that was the most excited she had seen him all day, she haven't seen him much for the day but still he ran back with a box and flowers, it was a gift. He sat down next to her before opening the box, pulling out a bracelet it took jian a moment to realize it was her name in morse code, she immediately covered her hands over her mouth, she was trying to hold back a sob. What did she do to deserve friends like this, she had been learning morse code and sign language and was really interested in it, so she absolutely loved the bracelet. She was never taking it off, she had thought to herself
"Hand" Ethan said and jian removed them over her mouth and placed her right hand in his, Ethan locked the bracelet for her and it looked beautiful complimented her dress beautifully
"I love it" jian said giving Ethan and abrupt and unexpected hug, he was startled at first at how the girl sprang on him but he immediately hugged her back when he gave to.
"I love you, thanks" jian said, when ethan heard that his ear immediately starting ringing and his heart beat accelerated, he knew she didn't mean in the way he wished it would but still it sent his heart racing, his insides feeling all jelly, even his neck started turning red from being flustered by what she said, only if she knew how he wished she could mean those words and how he wished he could kiss her
"Here" he said immediately pulling away from the hug that was getting to lengthy and his mind was going places it shouldn't so he changed the topic
"Flowers" jian said as she took them in her arms
"I love it" she repeated she really did
"You welcome" Ethan smiled, he was very happy too that she liked his gifts
"You should go back in before the others come looking for you" he said and jian nodded before waving him off with the biggest smile that made his heart flutter again he waved her back. When she left he sighed running his hand over his face and then hair. Saying the words he was over it or he was letting go was one thing but actually putting those words to practice was harder everyday, it was like instead his feelings dropping because he was clearly rejected even though it was direct his feelings just grew everyday and that frustrated him to no ends. Maybe he should distance himself from her but she'll definitely notice, he had spent two nights before just thinking about what to do to get over his feelings, he had searched the internet high and low and couldn't come up with anything that was good enough, so he gave up. Time will heal it for him, he decided.
