I thought this was a great idea.
Granger, however, flew into a rage, his tone even colder than this mausoleum.
"Cut the act, I won't report this to the team, and I'm definitely not calling off the engagement!"
"Seraphina, come out now, if you've got the guts to die in there!"
For a moment, we all fell into silence.
The nurse's voice came through the walkie-talkie, "Is Melody's family there? What's your relation to her?"
After a pause, Granger's voice was exceptionally clear.
"I'm her... husband."
I thought I had already made up my mind to let go of Granger, that I wouldn't be hurt by him anymore.
But hearing those words, it felt like something had violently stabbed my heart.
My foot slipped, and I suddenly lost my balance.
I fell from the pile of stones, crashing hard onto the ground.
A sharp pain shot through my right foot, so intense I could barely open my eyes.
In my daze, I felt something scurrying over my hand.
I managed to lift my head and realized I was surrounded by countless rats and snakes, all eyeing me hungrily.
They tentatively touched me, but I no longer had the strength to react.
As if discovering a dying beast, they finally confirmed I had no power to fight back, and jubilantly swarmed over me.
Pain. My world seemed to be reduced to this single word.
These animals were frantically gnawing at my body, their sharp teeth constantly tearing at my skin and flesh.
I thought I could face death with composure, but the intense pain had me rolling back and forth on the ground.
My only feeble resistance was to whimper and cry out words that even I couldn't understand clearly.
But no one cared about my pleas for mercy.
I don't know how long it lasted, but finally, the excruciating pain began to subside.
My vision also gradually blurred.
Suddenly, my body felt lighter, and I found myself floating in the air.
When I looked down and saw the horrific scene in the tomb chamber, I finally realized that I was dead.
Then, an enormous pulling force carried my soul to the hospital.
