Chapter-248

"Dora vs Diego"

Jay-jay's POV

"He's paying," David said, handing the money to the ice cream vendor. The vendor thanked him before leaving. When David turned to me, he stopped in his tracks. I was glaring at him, furious.

"Why?" he asked, looking concerned.

"I'm annoyed..." I said calmly, taking the ice cream from his hand. "...thanks for this."

I turned my back on him and walked towards the swing set where I had fallen earlier. I was still fuming. It was the first time I had boasted, and look what happened. I wish someone had just humored me for once.

I sat back down on the swing and started licking my ice cream. I noticed that David had followed me.

"Why are you annoyed? Did I do something?" he asked, sitting down on the swing next to me.

I glared at him. "I'm annoyed because you get to talk to the King, while I'm just... ugh!"

He smiled, trying to stifle his laughter. "Like what I said before, he called me ONCE."

He emphasized the last word.

"It doesn't matter! I've only talked to him once, and he didn't even ask how I was!" I complained.

Damn that King! He said it would take a month, but it feels like a year has passed, even though it's only been a week. When he gets back, I'll give him a piece of my mind.

"He asked about you," David said, stopping me in my tracks. I had just taken a lick of my ice cream.

"He asked about me? Seriously?" I asked, surprised.

David nodded. "He also threatened me."

Threatened?! "What did he say?"

"He said not to mess with you. He will punch my soul out of my body."

Wow, that's so typical of him. He's such an idiot.

"He threatened you after asking about me? And he's the one who's supposed to be taking care of me?"

David nodded.

"That idiot!" I said, continuing to eat my ice cream.

I glanced over at Ci-N and Percy, noticing that they were quiet. Felix was also eating his ice cream, looking uninterested.

I stared at Ci-N, who was the only one who could contact the King. But he's been refusing to help me, saying it's the King's orders.

"Do you think he'll come back?" I asked David, not looking at him.

"It depends," he replied, making me curious.

I raised an eyebrow and turned to him. "What do you mean?"

He looked serious. "It depends if he has something to come back to."

I met his gaze, knowing what he meant. He was referring to me. Would the King come back for me?

I thought about it for a moment.

"I don't know," I said, looking away.

I continued eating my ice cream, which was slowly melting. My patience was also melting away, consumed by my anger towards the King.

When I finished my ice cream, I tried to look for a tissue in my bag. But it seemed I had run out.

David handed me a handkerchief. "Here... don't bother returning it."

I looked at the handkerchief before taking it. "You're the one who can afford it. Thanks."

I wiped my mouth and hands clean.

Rich kids are really something else.

"What time do you think they'll finish?" David asked, looking at Percy and Ci-N.

I also glanced over, noticing that they were arguing.

Just a while ago, they were quiet—maybe they had finished eating.

I quickly stood up and walked over to them. "Dora is better, she can go anywhere!" Ci-N said, looking annoyed.

"Diego! He saves the animals!" Percy argued back.

I smiled wryly and looked for Felix. I found him not too far away, his expression permanent.

It was clear he wasn't happy and wanted to punch his brother.

Again, I looked at Ci-N. He was still arguing with Percy.

"Mas magaling si Dora, nakakapunta sa kahit saan!" Ci-N said, looking annoyed.

"Si Diego! Nagliligtas ng kauri mo yon!" Percy argued back.

I shook my head, smiling. Those two were really something else.
