Happiness can come in many forms, for Isaac who is still a bit too injured to move around without assistance, this came in the form of red dots being overwhelmed by his units. Things were finally beginning to look up for him. Within two weeks, the small base has turned into a village. With a total of 4 Murlok Barracks and 2 Human Barracks along with two training buildings specialized in each of his two unit types and the regular training facility. The unit production has never been more efficient.
Four Murloks every three days and two humans a week. It takes about 2 days to train a basic unit for them to gain a profession but even without one they can be used to gather resources. In the span of two weeks, a total of 16 Murloks and 4 human soldiers would be produced. Among these murloks are the Murlok Spine-throwers, the 4th basic profession of the Murloks.
The Spine-throwers were faster swimmers than the rest of their kin but are far slower in land. They use the Spines on their backs as projectiles which are laced with a paralyzing liquid that their body produces.
An extra batch of four Murloks would appear on the 15th day, due to the three day spawn timer that the Murloks had. Adding the forces that he brought to the island meant that his numbers were now in the 30s. "Unit List!"
[Units] Total: 31
T1 Swordsman 2x
T1 Archer 4x
T1 Spearman 3x
T1 Murlok Militia 8x
T1 Murlok Enchanter 4x
T1 Murlok Berserker 6x
T1 Murlok Spine-thrower 4x
His unit list never accounts for his Water Spirit and Grandpa Tony's gift, The Shadewalker Noctis. But even without these two units, the base has been slowly but surely getting larger. During this time, all other resources would be spent on buildings that produced resources or the Arcane Towers that kept his base protected. Upon putting up two Arcane towers he was now down to 30 magic crystals. Isaac, has given up on the pursuit of the Altar of Heroes at least for now.
"I can construct a second mine along with 1 more of each resource building. Only then can I upgrade the training buildings." Comparably speaking, Isaac's troops are better off on this island than the last one. Though the threats of this island differ greatly from what his troops are used to.
Firstly, there was the fauna. In the camp, both the barn and a new building known as a fish farm have been created. Each capable of producing food while also acting as some sort of storage. The captured livestock from the forest are a mix of creatures, from boars to deer. The predators of these animals range from large cats like the tiger to the ever present bear. "The animals on this island are far too similar to the ones on earth."
"Aside from the fauna, there are two main factions that we know of." Isaac was in the middle of the base with a campfire lit. "The barn only intakes either possible future units or livestock. We're mostly set in terms of food and water is readily available due to the river that Callum's team found a few days ago."
"The first faction consists of Intaks, the fodder that's been getting in our way." Isaac's annoyance with this faction has reached a new level, the Intaks are small goblin-like creatures that are far weaker than the humans and even murloks of his camp. They are grey-skinned and have the ability to harden their skin, enough to defend them but not enough for them to get the better of Isaac and his group. "I just need a few more corpses before they can be registered as a new unit."
"The second faction is what we need to be cautious of." Isaac continued. "Thick carapace and a tail similar to that of a scorpion… they're dangerous and the fact that we've only taken down the 3 scouts is bothering me."
[Intak unit absorption: 89%]
[K'Sharnid unit absorption: 8%]
"The K'sharnids do drop magic crystals… Our defenses will hold for now so long as we don't provoke a large number of them. But just in case, I'll create two more towers and a large barrack. We're taking root by this main camp, I no longer wish to leave another base behind."
Each unit, whether borrowed or fully his own, had a role. At least 6 Murloks were awake at all times to survey the waters and scout around the camp, while 4 out of the 9 humans would do the same for the land. The Arcane towers had no need to be manned at all and are active 24/7 but the added benefit of scouts that were in rotation was that they could preemptively prepare the main forces if an attack is actually active.
In the mornings, there would be two main groups of soldiers. The scouts and the resource gatherers, the resource buildings while capable of producing more resources while being manned still didn't produce enough wood or stone for what Isaac had planned out. "The production of iron even if I have two Mines will still be slow, I can barely use it to upgrade the main training facilities but at least it's finally on the way."
"I can have them hunt the Intaks actively but this can draw the attention of the K'Sharnid… Is there no such thing as a safe island in this reality?" It was a question that he already knew the answer to. Isaac, while not fully aware about the factions that the past heroes created, could reasonably assume that there were large groups far more powerful than his batch of "heroes". "The guide spoke of dragons and heroes similar to the Bechnitz people, Dragons even from the information in the Guide's database, are long-lived creatures much like the elves… I only hope that if we run into one or worse yet one of the groups.. I can only hope that they're not hostile to us."
With the upgrade done on the [General Training Facility] as he renamed it, the Tier 2 professions were finally unlocked. Mostly upgrades that were needed, since they were already capable of collecting iron it's just that the actual utilization of it hasn't been implemented at all.
[Tier 2 Units]New
Human Swordsman T2
Human Hoplite
Human Archer T2
Human Crossbowman
Human Spearman T2
Human Pikeman
Murlok Hoplite
Murlok Berserker T2
Murlok Enchanter T2
Murlok Shaman
Murlok Spine-thrower T2
Units in the Tier 1 Stage can go through the Upgraded Training Facility to gain a Tier 2 profession. But they had to have had a profession that is somewhat related to their new one. For example the Human Swordsman, can either continue on to be a Hoplite which wields a sword and a shield or to continue on as a Tier 2 version of the swordsman. The same can be said for a Tier 1 Archer, either switching their weapon to a crossbow or mastering their Bow even further. Along with a spearman either turning into a Tier 2 equivalent or into a Pikeman which uses an oversized polearm.
As for the Murloks, the Militia upgrade into the Hoplite. The Berserker, Enchanter and Spine-thrower all have a Tier 2 equivalent while the Enchanter also has an option to turn into a shaman. While all of the hype for these new units were big, upgrade time to get a tier 2 is to let the unit train inside for at least 5 days, as opposed to the 1 - 3 that it takes to train a Tier 1 unit. "With a maximum of 2 units to train at a time, I'll be down that many units in the meantime."
Even with multiple training facilities it would still take a while to train most of his units up. "But the results should be quite noticeable, Callum and a Murlok Berserker should go in first."
"Frontline combatants, Callum, it would do wonders if you unlocked a shield."
Isaac gave both of them pats on their backs as he sent them into the newly upgraded building. "All I'm seeing are descriptions, I need to see the actual weight of their upgrades."
"All this while I still don't have the resources for that Hero unit, that bastard better be worth it when I do get an orb." Isaac's focus was now on his new base, revenge can come later when he finally crushes the inhabitants of this island.
