Chapter 27: Taskmaster’s Instant Death

Chapter 27: Taskmaster's Instant Death

The Reincarnation Space's management over its Reincarnators was rather lax—

There were no mandatory main quests.

Even randomly triggered side quests came with no penalties if left undone.

So, upon receiving the task, Jiang Feng felt no pressure at all.

Completing the side quest would be great, but failure meant no loss whatsoever.

"Kill five villains? That's not too hard…"

Jiang Feng glanced at the newly triggered quest—

It seemed he could finish it all tonight.

There were plenty of villains in the Marvel Universe.

Linglong had already scanned the world using databases and satellites,

Revealing that many villains existed—and most weren't particularly powerful.

Some might even be weaker than Kraven.

For Jiang Feng, completing this quest would be as effortless as picking fruit off a tree.

Suddenly—

Swish!

An arrow brimming with the aura of death shot out from the shadows at the street corner, aiming straight for Jiang Feng's head.

These brain-dead villains… were they under a stupidity curse or something?

Not only did they insist on melee combat, they also used the "Gourd Brothers" tactic—taking turns to die one after another.

No one moved while their teammates were alive.

Only after Kraven was killed did they decide to act.

Jiang Feng turned his neck slightly—

The arrow narrowly missed his ear, slicing through the air with a sharp gust of wind.

It embedded itself into the nearby lamppost.

Boom!

Flames erupted instantly, the violent explosion blasting the lamppost into a storm of shrapnel.

Metal debris rained down everywhere.

Clearly, this was no ordinary arrow—

It was a high-tech explosive one.

Jiang Feng had already scanned and sensed its considerable power, which was why he dodged it instead of tanking it like he usually did with bullets.

After the explosion—

A figure clad in white battle armor emerged, holding a shield and a short sword under the cover of night.

It was the infamous Taskmaster.

His ghostly footwork made him seem confident enough to dodge bullets with agility alone as he closed in on his target's vital points.

Whether it was Bullseye holding the livestream camera,

Or Kingpin and Madame Gao watching from behind the scenes—

They were all eagerly anticipating—

What kind of spectacular takedown Taskmaster was about to pull off.

"Isn't this guy just 'Taskdead' though?"

"He's basically still just a regular person—probably even weaker than Kraven," Jiang Feng thought coldly.

He stared at Taskmaster's flashy movements with disdain.

Without hesitation, Jiang Feng lifted his arm—

Aiming the gun barrel at the white figure's head and gently pulling the trigger.

Bang!

A crisp gunshot—

The bullet flew like an arrow, slicing through the air.

"Trying to shoot me? You're a hundred years too early."

Taskmaster was completely immersed in his footwork,

Brimming with confidence as he twisted his body, thinking he could dodge the deadly shot.

However—

Jiang Feng had fired a smart bullet.

No matter how Taskmaster moved, it was futile.

The armor-piercing needle round curved in mid-air,

Drilling straight through his helmet with surgical precision.

And that pale white helmet?

Not even bulletproof.

Taskmaster didn't even have time to show a surprised expression before he collapsed, blood spreading across the pavement.

"Ding! You have successfully killed Taskmaster. Mechanic and Warrior classes gained 200 experience points."

"Ding! Reincarnator Jiang Feng has killed Taskmaster. Reincarnation Points +180."

"Ding! Reincarnator Jiang Feng, your quest progress is now 2/5."

The sudden turn of events left everyone stunned.

"That's it?!"

Bullseye almost dropped the camera—

Kingpin's jaw dropped wide enough to fit a fist.

Their highly anticipated Taskmaster…

Was one-shotted.

The entire scene—

Felt like a sledgehammer to the chest, shattering their expectations in one blow.

But Jiang Feng—

Having already wiped out the Hand ninjas and Kraven—

Was now perfectly used to these wannabe close-combat villains with mediocre strength.

Seeing Taskmaster get instantly killed—

The battlefield fell into a strange, dead silence.

Everyone was speechless.

Even the dullest villain—

No longer dared to go head-to-head with Jiang Feng.

The few who remained finally realized—

This armored man was not someone they could afford to mess with.

"Kraven and Taskmaster are both dead… there's no way I can take him on. Better to run while I can."

Terrified out of his mind, Bullseye—

Threw the camera away like a hot potato and fled into the dark alley without looking back.

His frantic footsteps echoed across the empty streets.

Batroc, who had less combat strength, was already drenched in sweat.

Seeing Bullseye run first, his last shred of courage crumbled.

"Where there's life, there's hope!"

He silently chanted, picking up speed—

Fleeing like a whipped dog, tail between his legs, closely following Bullseye.

The two stumbled and scrambled under the cover of night—

A pitiful sight.

Tombstone, a man of extraordinary power—

Usually relied on his monstrous physique and heat-manipulating abilities to dominate.

But now—

Staring at Jiang Feng's towering, unmoving form in steel,

He swallowed hard, his pale face dark with hesitation.

As a superhuman,

Tombstone had confidence in his own strength.

But witnessing Jiang Feng's overwhelming power,

Even he felt fear.

"My teammates ran... I can't fight this guy alone."

After a brief hesitation—

Tombstone gritted his teeth and followed Bullseye and Batroc, turning to escape as well.

But his massive body made him awkward and clumsy—

A step too slow in the chaos.

In dangerous situations, you don't need to outrun the threat—just outrun your friends.

"Trying to run? Not that easy!"

Jiang Feng gave chase to complete his quest.

The slowest, Tombstone, became his prime target.

With a flick of Jiang Feng's arm,

A mini-missile trailing a long tail of flame howled through the air like a fiery dragon toward Tombstone.

Boom!

A thunderous explosion rocked the area,

Heatwaves and debris surging in all directions.

Tombstone flew like a kite with its string cut—

Launched several meters by the blast before crashing hard into a brick wall, which cracked like a spiderweb.

Even with a body as tough as steel, capable of tanking bullets like Jiang Feng—

He was still left dizzy and battered from the explosion.

His clothes were torn, revealing scarred skin—

Pain ignited the fury within him.

Tombstone struggled out of the wall, eyes bloodshot.

"Don't think you're invincible! I'll tear you to pieces!"

As he roared—

His hands suddenly glowed bright yellow, and the air around them distorted from the heat.

Tombstone's body temperature surged to over a thousand degrees Celsius—

Hot enough to melt steel.

Just like warriors injected with Extremis virus.

Meanwhile—

Hearing the explosion, Bullseye and Batroc were scared out of their wits.

Their legs moved like motor engines as they sprinted even faster.

"Stop! Stop! You useless cowards! You haven't completed the mission yet! I paid you!"

Kingpin's furious roar echoed from their earpieces.

But neither Bullseye nor Batroc paused for a second.

To them—

Survival was the only thing that mattered.

Back in the office atop Fisk Tower—

Kingpin slumped into his chair,

Sweat pouring from his forehead,

An unprecedented sense of crisis weighing down on him.

Watching Taskmaster and Kraven get one-shotted before his very eyes—

The terror Jiang Feng invoked surpassed even the darkest nightmares of his childhood.

Kingpin could only look pleadingly toward Madame Gao.

But even she had lost her composure—

Her brows furrowed, and from her shriveled lips came a rare, tense sentence:

"That man's weapons are too powerful… Not even Tombstone can stop him. He'll be here very soon."
