Jay-Jay's POV
"Just let your Mom rest," said Tita while cooking porridge. "She's already overworked from the work she's doing here at home." "I feel like it's my fault," I replied. She looked at me for a moment. "Why? Did you make your Mom sick ?" I shook my head. "Maybe she was stressed out from asking about Papa." She laughed a little. "Probably not." Since Monday when Aries and I returned until now, Mama has still been sick. It's been 2 days but she's still not getting better. I keep walking outside her room because I can't go in and she might get even more stressed. Is this the effect of what I just said to Papa? "What are you doing here? Are you done reviewing?" Kuya Angelo asked when he saw me in the kitchen with Tita. I turned to him. "It's done, Aries helped me." "Your exam is tomorrow, so go to bed early." I didn't answer. It was still too early to put me to sleep. We hadn't even had dinner yet. Kuya went straight to the fridge and got a chuckie before peeking at what his mother was cooking. Tita looked young because of my cousin's size. Where did she get her height from? Maybe from her real father. I want height too. If I drink her chuckie from the fridge, will I be a man? Maybe, but not because of drinking the chuckie. Maybe because I ran away from her because I interfered with the drink she was keeping the most. Kuya had already passed me by when I heard the Maid calling her. She went to the living room. I accidentally heard them mention a name. I thought I heard David's name. I turned to look and try to hear them again but because of the distance I was forced to stand up and follow them into the living room. I was surprised but my face lit up when I saw who the visitor wasâ€"a guest. "Ci, why are you here?" I asked her. I looked at the person next to her who was talking to Kuya. It was David. He smiled briefly and greeted me before facing my cousin again. Ci came over to me, and looked like a child who had cried before hugging me and crying. Oh, like a child who had been robbed of candy. "It's . . . D-Drew." He said crying and I suddenly elt nervous. "Why? Did something happen?" I asked worriedly. Is this what I'm saying? It looks like Drew is doomed. We had no idea what was happening to him, so he was able to betray me and now it's like this. We can't even help him. "It's Drew . . . Drew . . ." I was even more nervous because he didn't say anything. The bad things that could happen to him started playing in my mind. I felt like I was going to cry too. Jusko, please don't. "Ci . . ." I called him softly. "It's Drew . . . Drew . . ." He sobbed and wiped his face. " Drew, he doesn't want to pay the debt." Oh, what a fool. I hit the little Kumag weakly. "You're really crazy." "Oh," he whispered before moving away from me and wiping his face again. "I'm serious here, you're fooling me again." "Hey, I'm crying seriously, but it's not because of his debt. I'm worried." He said seriously. "Worried?" "He's telling the truth. The other day he called me because he was worried about Drew," David said. I looked at him and my cousin as if he was reading my mind. This Kuya really has a telekinesis. I couldn't help but feel sorry for the Little Kumag. He didn't say a word to the other person about who the traitor was. He obviously didn't accept Keifer's decision either. I understood his concern. "Why did you come here?" I asked. I don't remember anything we talked about or if they mentioned anything. It's unclear if they came here because nothing bad happened to me after coming to Sir's. "We have something to talk about," Kuya replied even though I wasn't the one asking him. I was about to ask again but I was stopped when I heard a car horn outside the house. I looked through the open gate to see an SUV stop and Mam Cindy, Sir Alvin and Yuri getting out. Following their car was an expensive sports car. I could almost smell who it was. Yuri approached me and greeted me. "Good evening, how are you feeling?" I smiled. "I'm ï¬ne, there are still some scratches but they'll go away. And you?" "A little tired, we had a hard time ï¬nding a new house." "Me? You're not going to say hello?" Ci interjected while pointing at himself, so we looked at him. "Or maybe greet us ï¬rst," David added while crossing his arms. Yuri winced and I laughed. He seemed to be orced to greet David and Ci. I looked at Sir Alvin and Mam Cindy who were currently talking to Kuya. Next I looked at the man who entered our gate. My feet moved of their own accord to go and greet him. I wasn't excited to see him. I was excited by the paperbag he was holding with the brand of a famous restaurant. The King of Snakes had a gift. "This is for me?" I asked. He laughed a little. "No, this is for your Mom." Oh. I had mentioned to him that my mudra was sick in the text. I should have said I was sick too so I could have food too. It's gone, I'm sad. I still took the paperbag and brought it to the kitchen to give to Tita. "Who brought it?" he asked. "It's Keifer." He nodded and took out the contents of the paperbag to transfer to another container. I left him and went back to Kuya in the living room but they were no longer there. They were already walking up the stairs. Ci was still behind me, waving at me. Where are we going? There's a ï¬eld trip at home. I immediately followed them. He and Kuya went straight to their room. "What's up?" Aries asked who had just come out of his room. "Why are they here?" I was about to answer when Kuya Angelo called him. "Come here and join us." I looked at Kuya to ask if I was there too, but he stopped me from trying to enter. "You stay out of here." He looked at Ci. "You too, stay outside ." The young scoundrel turned to me with a frown and walked out. I was going to try to force Kuya to let me know what they were talking about, but he was already looking at me badly so I was forced to step away and watch him close the door with my expression. Ci and I looked at each other. It was like we had just been kicked out of a classroom, both of us embarrassed. He smiled at me and showed me his phone. There was an ongoing call with David's name on it. Wow, great! We quickly ran to my room and immediately closed the door. It seemed like we only had one thing on our minds. He pressed the mute button and loudspeaker. "I accidentally called him earlier before we entered your brother's room. Then he answered without him noticing," Ci said and giggled. "I didn't delete it because I knew it would happen." "Did you hear what they were talking about?" I asked and we both put our ears close to his phone. They were talking almost at the same time so we couldn't understand anything at ï¬rst. They only stopped when they had something to ask and David answered . "I didn't talk to Drew, but thankfully Rory and Edrix seemed to listen to me ," he began. "It's true that the loan shark didn't know yet that we all know the truth. He also didn't care much about Ram because he probably got what he wanted." "He brought Drew back?" asked Kuya. "I won't say sent back, more like allowed to return. Thanks to Rory and Edrix who managed to convince Drew to follow our plan," David replied. What plan? I looked at Ci but he didn't seem to have a clue either. I continued listening to his phone. "So what did they discover?" Hari's voice. "Their target is different now. They want Drew to monitor you and gather information." Keifer was the shark loan's next target he was referring to. Why is he now? "For what?" Mam Cindy's voice. "The shark loan is also working for someone close to Keifer's Dad. Like a network. Someone knows someone," David explained. Keifer cursed one after another. Who is that someone? But why did they send Drew back to the shark loan in the ï¬rst place? I was confused. I didn't know they were talking about something like this. "Your suspicion seems correct, according to Rory that someone is funding Ram that's why he recovered so quickly and was able to bring someone along to get revenge on Jay-Jay," he added. I covered my mouth. Does this mean Keifer's Dad was involved? It's impossible that he knows Ram but if they're a network, that means he could also know about our plan and the person David refers to as 'someone close' to Keifer's Dad was just a middleman. I don't understand why they're getting involved. He shouldn't be involved in our mess. I can't help but be scared. I feel like my world is shrinking. I'm just going to go nuts. "Did I hear right? They forced Drew to go back to that Shark loan to continue his work? Didn't they think that was dangerous?" I said annoyed but Ci motioned for me to be quiet. We continued listening. "Maybe we can get Drew out of there? It's dangerous," Yuri said but Kuya Angelo disagreed. "It's not possible suddenly," he said and sighed for a moment. "Let him get back to your class and section." "What for?" "Let him provide information, then when they had low contact with Drew, pulled him out and made sure he would cut contact with them. You'll almost get caught and he has no use for them." I was suddenly impressed by what Kuya said. It seemed like he knew exactly how to get Drew out of that Shark loan without getting hurt. I thought he was really angry because I was ruined but he seemed to care too. Kuya is a carebear. "Is it okay for you to send Drew back to Section E?" Yuri asked, which I thought was for Hari. They were silent for a few seconds before anyone spoke. "I know you're angry with him, but he clearly told Rory and Edrix that he would take back what he did, which is why he agreed to your plan," David said but Keifer laughed softly. "I don't have a problem with him getting back, my problem is Jay-Jay's safety." "I also want Drew to go back but I agree with Keifer. It's just too risky , and I can't get past the fact that he might be giving the details he's collected to someone else," Yuri said. They fell silent again. It seemed like they had been thinking about what to do for a long time. I heard someone sigh but when I looked at the person next to me, it was just him. Ci-N was gone! "For now, at least let him back. He has an exam tomorrow and he needs to catch up on his grades, he's also in trouble because he might not graduate," Sir said and it looked like they had made ï¬nal decisions. Ci and I looked at each other and it was like we had both been pulled out of a thorn. I like the idea of sending him back to Section E. But I won't deny that I'm a little worried. Keifer is the one he needs to watch over and get the details from now on. What if he gets hurt? Ci hung up the call after noticing that they were talking about something else now. "I mean, all this time they had a plan for Drew?" Ci asked and it made me think. Her admission of what she did was really unexpected, especially considering Keifer's decision to ï¬re him but even more unexpected was that they immediately came up with a plan on what they could do. "Maybe, you heard me, they already got the details," I answered and she nodded. "I would prefer if Drew was still in Section E," she said while smirking. We are the same. I prefer that too. I don't know but I believe that Ulopong needs us more. What he is going through is unfair, he is the only one facing it. After all, we should have been the ï¬rst to help him. He was just consumed by fear so he only accepted the help he was facing. That's why I really don't agree with Keifer's decision then. "To be honest, Drew is stupid when it comes to money but he can be trusted," added the Young Kumag. "Did you know they used to be rich?" I thought about it. I think I've heard the Ulopongs talking about that before. I also found out once that he had already arrived in another country but he didn't clarify with us if it was true. He was just joking. "Really? Why did he suffer?" "I don't know, but his mother was a Gold Medalist in the Chess Olympiad and competed in the World Chess Championship several times," he explained and I gaped in amazement. The stupid thing is, his mother is good at it, why did she end up gambling. Even though she was paid for every coin. The lightning has been destroyed several times. He didn't even get any help from his mother. "What happened to them? Have you ever confronted his parents?" He shook his head. "He doesn't want anyone to come to his house. I know Blaster has arrived but they fought." I wondered deeply what was wrong with them. The well is deep . But maybe because he's ashamed too. Maybe that's how their lives turned out. I just can't help but feel annoyed. Imagine, they've already suffered and then he's still gambling. If only he'd just put his money aside so he could save up or provide for his needs. Now, he has various debts, including the Shark loan. I really hope that after this he'll be taken away and stop gambling. We were about to continue talking about Drew's life but we were interrupted by someone knocking on my bedroom door. I immediately opened it and the face of the King of Cobras appeared. He was handsome. Eme. "Why?" I asked and he smiled. "Nothing, is it bad if I come see you?" I looked at Ci who was still sitting on my bed while he was squirming and rubbing his head against my blanket. I was about to visit him but Keifer motioned for him to go out ï¬rst. He looked at the two of us before smiling foolishly. What was this idiot thinking? He slowly walked out and closed the door but I opened it immediately. Maybe my cousin would suddenly appear later and think differently because of the closed door. Death is crazy! He's picking us up. "How was your day?" the King asked as he approached me. I felt his hand on my waist and it felt like I was electrocuted. He even laughed at my reaction. "It's not good, because I feel like my mom got sick because of my mischief. I almost told her about Papa, and she turned out to be allergic," I explained. "I don't think it was because of you. You also told me in your text that maybe she was too busy working here at home." We text each other all the time, but yesterday she was slow to reply so I didn't reply. She didn't look for me so I thought she might be busy . But the truth is, I'm really annoyed that it took her so long to reply. She's too busy, so I didn't bother her anymore. I nodded my head. He pulled me closer to him slightly. I leaned against his chest so I immediately blocked both of my arms. "Hey, Kuya might catch us," I whispered and he shook his head. "He's busy, talking to Sir Alvin and Mam Cindy." I simply bit my lip. I just wanted to be alone with each other. "What were you talking about earlier?" I asked even though I knew the answer. I just didn't want to reveal that I knew the truth. I'll tell him what I found out. I just want to know if he'll share it with me too. Coz sharing your gossip is caring. "About Drew, we just had him do something," he answered. "What's that?" "Can't tell you yet, but it has something to do with the Shark loan. He want s to make up for what he did to you. . . to us." I really couldn't help but feel nervous for Drew. It's too dangerous for him to go back there, what if he gets caught? "Isn't he going to get hurt?" He didn't answer. He stared at me as if he was weighing whether his answer would be right or wrong. You're a fool! You prepared your answer. "Keifer?" I called his name as if threatening. "I can't conï¬rm," he replied and looked away. I pulled away from him and slapped him on the arm. He was even surprised by what I did. "Keifer! That shark loan wasn't just a random thing, he's already taking care of his brother, right? It would be good if it was just like the gangs we used to ï¬ght." "Calm down, Rory and Edrix are making sure Drew is careful with his actions." I sighed. "What if he's not?" "Of course he can, he's managed to act without anyone catching us â€" except Rory and Edrix. But if you look closely, he's managed to be careful not to get caught, is that even now ?" He has a Point. About 0.5 points. If he hadn't confessed, we wouldn't know yet. I hope the King of Snakes is right in what he said. I feel like that loan shark is a big syndicate. What are we ï¬ghting for? We're just ï¬ghting on the street. He grabbed my hand so he could pull me closer to him again. "Don't worry yourself too much." "Of course I can't avoid it. I haven't talked to Drew and forgiven him properly yet, but for me, he's still our friend." He simply sighed. "Sometimes I get annoyed by your kindness . But then I remembered that's one of your best qualities." I blinked. "Who's kind?" "You," he replied and laughed. "You're too soft." "Weh? Am I too kind?" He laughed out loud but then became serious. "It's scary too. Sometimes people forgive and let go quickly because their minds are seeking peace." "What do you mean by that?" "Your mind had been through a lot. Your mind is tired so you just let go of the betrayal, abuse, pain and anger so that your brain can have it's peace of mind," he explained and I couldn't answer. I hugged him and leaned into his shoulder. It's true, sometimes I wonder why I seem to forgive so quickly. It's like I just want it to be over. It's like I just want to go back to the way it was before the trouble happened, or before I felt my anger. Now I know. "Please learn to set boundaries. I'm not saying don't forgive Drew or anyone who hurts you. You can still orgive them or anyone in the future, but please, put yourself ï¬rst before the others." I laughed a little. "It's like you also said to stay away from you." He was silent for a few seconds so I was confused. I immediately faced him. He was smiling but I couldn't see any pain or anger. "If that's how you feel it should be, then so be it," he said and was about to let go of me. I immediately shot him. "I wish you had walked away by then. I hope you didn't ï¬nd a way to make me forgive you." He laughed out loud. "I was just saying, just in case." I was about to walk away from him but he immediately hugged me. I was annoyed with him so I pushed him slightly. "I'm bored with you," I said annoyed. "I'm just saying . . . I'm not sayingâ€"." "AND YOU REALLY DID IT HERE!" Kuya shouted like thunder inside my room. We immediately let go of each other. I also quickly walked away because Kuya might suddenly reach out and reach my ear. "Get the fvck out of here!" he ordered Keifer who didn't want to follow but I motioned for him to get out. I was about to walk away again when Kuya pointed at me and looked at me angrily. "Get ready. But you don't have dinner." Why are you rushing to have dinner? He motioned for me to go out. I took big steps to quickly get away from my cousin. I didn't expect Keifer's words, but I learned something. The King of Snakes is really smart.
