Took Care of Him All Night

Before Skyler could react, Logan knocked the scorching hot porridge out of her hand.

With a loud crash, the porcelain bowl shattered on the stairs, and hot porridge spilled all over the floor.

Skyler was startled, her face turning pale.

Before she could even process what happened, the man’s cold and angry voice slammed down on her.

"If this happens again, you can leave on your own!"

Logan’s disgusted tone sent a chill down her spine, snapping her fully awake.

She didn’t say anything more and crouched down to pick up the broken pieces from the stairs.

Just like last night, her delicate fingers felt nothing.

Even when she picked up the hot shards covered in porridge, she didn’t flinch.

Logan stood on the stairs, looking down at her slender fingers as they moved over the steaming mess.

His thick eyebrows furrowed even tighter.

After a moment, Skyler stood up with the broken pieces in her hand—only to realize that Logan was already gone.

Good riddance.

Did she actually expect him to help or comfort her?

She suddenly snapped back to reality.

She had been foolish to think Logan wasn’t completely disgusted by her, just because of a small gesture at dinner.

Skyler quickly cleaned up the stairs, then returned to her room. She checked her bank account and contact list.

200,000 yuan... What should I do...

---

Skyler woke up in the middle of the night, her mind tangled with thoughts of the 200,000 yuan debt. She couldn’t sleep.

She got up and decided to get a glass of water.

The first floor was dark, with only a faint light coming from the stairs leading up to the second floor.

Is he still awake?

But what did that have to do with her?

Skyler told herself not to think about it. She walked to the water dispenser, poured herself a glass, and was about to head back to her room when—

"Bang!"

A heavy, muffled sound suddenly came from upstairs.

Skyler froze.

Instinctively, she wanted to look up at the second floor.

But a voice in her head told her not to meddle in other people’s business.

Logan’s cold and threatening words still rang in her ears.

The second floor was his private space. She wasn’t allowed to go up there.

She didn’t want to get into trouble.

Skyler forced herself to ignore it and walked back to her room in the dark.

But just as she reached her door—

"Bang!"

"Crash!"

Two even louder sounds echoed from upstairs, like glass shattering.

What is he doing up there?!

Skyler knew she shouldn’t interfere.

But after the loud crash, there was complete silence.

A strange uneasiness crept up inside her.

In the end, she couldn’t ignore it.

She bit her lip and, relying on memory, made her way up to the second floor.

It was even bigger than the first floor, and the only light came from an open door.

It was Logan’s room.

"Mr. Lee… are you there?"

"What's wrong?"

She called out softly a few times.

No response.

Skyler pursed her lips, took a deep breath, and pushed open the door that hadn’t been closed.

As she stepped inside, the scene before her made her face go pale with shock!

Skyler never expected that when she pushed open the door, she would see Logan lying unconscious by the bed.

He looked like he was in pain. His eyebrows were furrowed tightly, his face was turning blue. One hand was clenched into a fist and pressed against his chest, while the other tightly gripped the headboard.

On the floor beside the bed was his phone, which he had dropped. Broken glass was scattered everywhere.

Skyler quickly realized that the noise she heard downstairs was the sound of his phone and the glass falling and shattering.

The man who had just warned her coldly not long ago now looked incredibly weak.

Not only were his eyes tightly shut, but even his sharp eyebrows were scrunched up.

His usually chiseled and serious face was twisted in pain, and his forehead was covered in cold sweat, showing how much he was suffering.

Skyler’s first thought was that this man was finally getting what he deserved.

Just for all the food he had wasted, he deserved this.

But after a moment, she pushed aside the small sense of revenge that had risen inside her. After all, she was a professional caregiver.

Besides, no matter how harsh Logan’s words were, he had still helped her.

She would just think of this as paying him back for his unintentional help at the restaurant. That way, she wouldn’t owe him anything.

With that thought, Skyler walked closer and gently called out, “Mr. Lee… are you okay? Can you hear me?”

As soon as her hand touched Logan’s shoulder, she felt the burning heat of his skin.

Logan seemed to be in even more pain, his body trembling slightly.

He didn’t respond to her calls. His eyes stayed shut, his forehead drenched in sweat, and his face was getting even paler.

As a hospital nurse with a professional nursing certificate, Skyler had seen many sudden emergencies before.

She quickly realized what was happening to Logan.

It looked like he was having a gastric ulcer attack!

Skyler frowned, wondering what kind of man he was. He didn’t even eat dinner, despite having stomach problems.

Luckily, he wasn’t vomiting blood. If he had been, he would have needed to go straight to the hospital.

She helped him lie down on the bed, then went downstairs to look for medicine to treat stomach ulcers.

To her surprise, in such a big apartment, there wasn’t a single bottle of the right medicine.

Luckily, there was a 24-hour pharmacy downstairs.

Skyler rushed over to buy the medicine, hurried back, and heated up some water to help Logan take it.

Afterward, she cleaned up the broken glass and wiped up the water on the floor. She picked up his phone and placed it back on the bedside table.

Technically, she should have made him a pot of millet porridge to help his stomach recover.

Taking medicine was only a temporary solution.

But everything she had done tonight had already crossed the line of what was safe for her.

If she wanted to protect herself, it was better not to get too involved.

She glanced at Logan’s face. His tightly furrowed brows had started to relax a little.

The medicine was working.

“Logan, even though you said that helping me at the restaurant was just like helping an ant and shouldn’t be taken to heart… I still want to thank you for that unintentional act.”

“…Anyway, I’ve paid you back now. In the future, take care of yourself. You might not be so lucky next time. Alright, I’m heading downstairs. Rest well.”

Skyler looked at the man lying on the bed with his eyes shut and spoke softly, word by word.

After she left the room with the water glass and medicine box, the man on the bed stayed still, his eyes closed.

But in the darkness, his slender fingers moved slightly.
