The Person Who Helped Her That Day

"Miss Skyler, I found you. I'm William, Master Lee's first assistant. I'll take you back to the city," William said, relieved to have found her.

Noah had finally found a lead on Miss Jones, the one who had taken the ring for Master Lee. Somehow, he had arranged a meeting with her at a nursing home.

William had been searching for Skyler to send her away, making sure she wouldn't be embarrassed if Miss Jones happened to see her.

---

"William? I've met you before! You were the one who helped me at the Ferrari restaurant… so you're Mr. Lee's assistant!" Skyler said in surprise.

It was William—assistant Moore—who had indirectly helped her and Sophia avoid being thrown out by the restaurant manager that day.

"That's right, we met at the restaurant. Miss Skyler, please get in," William said with a faint smile, opening the car door for her.

He acted very professional and didn’t bring up what had happened that day.

Skyler didn’t ask any more questions and got into the car.

---

It wasn’t until they arrived at her office building that William spoke again.

"Miss Skyler, can I park here?"

Skyler snapped out of her thoughts. Her mind had been replaying the scene at the restaurant—how Isabella almost humiliated her before William stepped in.

Thinking back, she realized that if it weren’t for him, she would have been completely embarrassed in public.

"Yes, you can park here," she replied.

After hesitating for a moment, she added, "By the way, thank you for what you did at the restaurant. It was because of you that we were able to avoid trouble."

"You don’t have to thank me, Miss Skyler. It was arranged by Master Lee. I was just doing my job."

"Master Lee?" Skyler froze for a moment, almost losing her composure.

She never expected that Logan would be the one who helped her.

"Yes," William nodded, confirming her suspicion.

"If Miss Skyler wants to thank someone, it's best to thank Master Lee in person. That day, he happened to be dining in the VIP room and helped you out of the situation."

---

William’s words echoed in Skyler’s mind even after she returned to her studio.

She sat at her desk, holding her electronic drawing board, absentmindedly sketching stroke by stroke.

Her thoughts kept drifting away.

Logan… he actually helped her behind the scenes?

That cold and ruthless man had a compassionate side too?

Skyler's gaze fell on her drawing board, but instead of focusing on her work, an image of Logan’s sharp and stern face appeared in her mind.

She remembered the first time she saw him—when he sent someone to take her away from the prying eyes of her neighbors.

At one point, she even saw him as a benefactor.

Maybe Logan wasn’t as cold and heartless as he seemed on the surface.

Thinking about the two hundred thousand she needed and the fact that she only had two days left, Skyler bit her lip lightly…

Maybe… she could try asking Logan for help.

What if he was willing to help her?

---

Meanwhile, in the visiting room of the nursing home…

Logan sat on the sofa with his eyes closed, his brow slightly furrowed. A chilling pressure surrounded him.

He was waiting for someone, but they were already half an hour late.

"Master Lee, there's a problem… Miss Jones said she has something urgent and can't meet us today," Noah, his second assistant, rushed in.

His brother William had just taken Skyler away, while Noah was responsible for picking up Miss Jones—a woman who wasn’t easy to track down. But something unexpected happened, and she canceled the appointment at the last minute, saying she would reschedule.

"This Miss Jones is too cunning. She accepted our expensive gift but refused to show us the ring. She’s postponed the meeting multiple times—she’s obviously playing with us!"

"Master Lee, should I send someone to bring her here now and confirm if she really has the ring you left with her?"

"Noah…"

Logan had already opened his eyes. His pitch-black pupils were filled with coldness.

Even though he was slightly annoyed with Isabella, he hadn’t forgotten his promise to her—he had told her he would take responsibility for her.

"Watch your words. Isabella is not like those women… like Skyler. She saved me. Remember, there won’t be a next time."

Noah’s face turned serious. "Yes, Master Lee!"

---

After leaving the nursing home, Logan returned to his company.

Just before the end of the workday, an emergency meeting was suddenly called.

By the time it ended, it was already 9 PM.

"Master Lee, it's too late to go to the restaurants you usually eat at. Why don't you go back to the old mansion and have dinner there before returning?" Noah cautiously suggested.

Logan had always been extremely picky about his food.

Most restaurants couldn't satisfy his taste, and aside from a few high-end places, he rarely dined out. Even when he had to entertain guests, he drank more than he ate.

Only the chef at the old mansion could make food that suited him.

But unfortunately, Master Lee didn’t like going back there.

"No, let’s go straight to the apartment," Logan’s cold voice came from the back seat.

Noah hesitated, wanting to remind Logan that his old stomach ulcer might act up again, but he didn’t dare say too much.

The car quickly arrived at the apartment complex.

When Logan entered the elevator, it was already 9:30 PM.

After what happened last night, he didn’t expect the woman at home to be waiting for him.

But when Logan swiped his fingerprint and opened the door, an unusually delicious smell filled the air.

"Mr. Lee, you're back. Um… I didn't know when you'd be home, and reheating food makes it taste bad, so I made you some porridge."

"Have you eaten yet? The porridge is still hot in the pot. Should I serve you a bowl?"

As soon as the door opened, a small woman in loose home clothes appeared with a soft smile, peeking out from the dining room.

Her big, watery eyes were locked on Logan.

When she saw his cold gaze, she bit her lip nervously, looking so innocent and fragile that it made people want to bully her.

Logan's dark pupils tightened slightly.

His gaze lingered on Skyler’s face for a few seconds.

Then, he coldly averted his eyes and walked straight upstairs without saying a word.

"Mr. Lee?"

Skyler was stunned for a moment, then quickly picked up a bowl of freshly served porridge.

"If you don’t want to eat downstairs, you can take it upstairs."

She followed him with the steaming bowl in her hands.

"That’s enough. Don’t follow me."

Logan suddenly stopped on the stairs, his icy gaze piercing through her.

Looking at the confused little woman, he spoke in his usual cold tone.

"Skyler, do you really think that after putting on a show in front of my grandfather today, you can become Mrs. Lee?"

Skyler’s scalp tingled under his sharp gaze. "I… I didn’t mean it that way."

"Hmph." Logan sneered. "If you didn’t, then what are you doing now? Do you think that by pleasing me, you can get something from me?"

"I… I don’t want anything from you."

She admitted that she had thought about borrowing two hundred thousand from him, but that wasn’t the only reason she had been acting like this.

"I just wanted to thank you…"

Skyler bit her lip, her long lashes trembling slightly as she looked up at him with cautious, watery eyes.

"I heard from William that you helped me at the Ferrari restaurant yesterday…"

Logan's brows furrowed.

He clearly hadn’t expected his assistant to tell her about that.

Skyler continued softly, "So, I wanted to thank you in person…"

"You don’t have to thank me."

Skyler blinked. "Huh?"

"If you accidentally save an ant, do you care about how it feels?" Logan’s cold eyes stared at her. "Skyler, I never intended to help you. It was just too noisy outside."

"You should have some self-awareness." Logan’s lips curled into a thin, cold smile.

After saying that, he turned and went upstairs.

Skyler stood there, stunned for a few seconds.

Her mind went blank, as if someone had just slapped her across the face, leaving it stinging and sore.

She looked down at the steaming porridge in her hands. Without thinking, she whispered, "But… I spent all night cooking this. Won't you at least taste it?"

He didn’t say he had eaten already, so he must still be hungry.

It wasn’t good to skip meals…

Even if she was just an ant in his eyes, he had saved her, even if it was unintentional.

Skyler never liked owing anyone anything—it made her feel uneasy.

This ant had nothing else to give but her gratitude.

At least if he drank this bowl of porridge, she would feel a little better.

Skyler carefully followed him, planning to set the bowl down and leave.

But just as she reached the stairs, Logan suddenly turned around.

His cold, sharp gaze fell on her left foot, which was just about to step onto the second-floor landing.

"Skyler, I warned you not to go upstairs."

"I… I know. I’m not going up, I just want to put the bowl—"

Suddenly—
