The next day, when Skyler woke up, she felt dizzy and weak.
She had stayed up late taking care of Logan, and she probably didn’t get enough rest.
She sat up and rubbed her temples, trying to shake off the exhaustion. When she checked the time, she realized she was already fifteen minutes later than usual.
Her heart skipped a beat.
Logan was usually still exercising at this time, so she thought she still had time. But just in case, she quickly got out of bed, freshened up, and rushed out of her room.
As soon as she stepped into the hallway, she froze.
Logan was already sitting at the dining table.
Her heart tightened, and she quickly lowered her head, letting her long eyelashes cover the panic in her eyes.
Why is he already downstairs?
Did he find out that I went upstairs last night?
Her fingers clenched slightly, and she took a deep breath before walking into the dining room.
Even though Logan was sitting down, his tall and imposing figure still exuded an intimidating presence. His perfectly tailored suit made him look even colder, his sharp features looking like they were sculpted from ice.
Even the air around him felt distant and untouchable.
Hearing her footsteps, Logan slowly lifted his gaze. His sharp eyebrows furrowed slightly, and his deep, cold eyes darkened.
"Good morning, Mr. Lee," Skyler quickly greeted him. She didn’t dare to look into his eyes and hurried toward the kitchen. "I didn’t expect you to come down so early today. I’ll make breakfast now."
She caught a glimpse of the black coffee in front of Logan and frowned.
With his bad stomach, he was still drinking black coffee?
As a professional caregiver, Skyler knew she should remind him. But she hesitated.
Would Logan even listen?
Before she could say anything, the man spoke first.
"Living here means following the rules." His cold, deep voice carried no warmth. "Skyler, I, Logan, never wait for anyone to eat. There shouldn’t be a next time for what happened this morning."
Skyler’s lips parted slightly, but she didn’t know what to say.
If I hadn’t stayed up late taking care of you, I wouldn’t have overslept.
But she didn’t say it.
"I understand, Mr. Lee," she replied softly. She didn’t try to explain herself.
Logan didn’t respond. He just looked at his phone, focused on the financial report in front of him.
Skyler quickly made breakfast and served it on the table before sitting down to eat.
However, Logan barely touched the food she made. He only ate a few bites of the high-end salad and toast that the servants had taken from the fridge.
Skyler glanced at the untouched food on the table.
If you’re not even going to eat the food I make, why do I have to be responsible for your meals?
She didn’t understand Logan at all.
They had nothing to say to each other during meals. They weren’t a real couple. Wouldn’t it be better if they just ate separately?
After finishing his coffee, Logan stood up.
Skyler quickly put down her utensils and followed him out of the dining room.
As Logan changed his shoes in the hallway, he was about to leave when he suddenly stopped and turned his head.
His deep black eyes locked onto her.
"By the way, if I’m not around, you’re not allowed to go to my grandfather’s place."
Skyler was caught off guard. "But Uncle Wilson said… he wanted me to visit whenever I had time. I promised him I’d go this weekend…"
Before she could finish speaking, Logan’s eyes turned cold and sharp.
In the next second, he suddenly leaned in, grabbed her chin, and twisted her face.
Skyler gasped in pain.
"Skyler, I’m not negotiating with you," Logan said coldly. His grip was tight and merciless.
Skyler’s heart pounded. His eyes were filled with disgust.
"Don’t expect to get any benefits from my grandfather. Don’t think that just because he’s old, you can fool him."
Her eyes widened in shock.
What was he even talking about?
Yesterday at the nursing home, Logan had seen his grandfather smiling at Skyler. That was the first time he had ever seen the old man look so happy.
At first, Logan thought his grandfather was just trying to stop the arranged marriage.
But after seeing the way the old man treated Skyler, Logan realized something else.
His grandfather really had high hopes for her.
He treated her differently from everyone else.
Skyler felt her chin burning from Logan’s grip.
"I… didn’t…" she tried to speak, but her voice was hoarse.
Tears welled up in her eyes from the pain.
Her pitiful expression made her look weak and fragile.
She’s really good at pretending to be innocent.
Logan’s eyes turned colder, and he sneered. "It’s better if you didn’t."
Then, without hesitation, he let go of her.
Skyler stumbled back.
Logan pulled out a tissue and wiped his fingers, as if even touching her had made him dirty.
Skyler’s face turned pale.
She was so shaken by his aggression that her legs gave out, and she collapsed onto the ground.
On her delicate face, the red marks from his fingers were still visible.
But Logan didn’t even glance at her.
He threw the tissue into the trash, picked up his briefcase, and was about to leave.
But just as he reached the door, he suddenly stopped.
"Oh, by the way…"
His deep, cold voice echoed in the hallway.
"Did you go upstairs last night?"
