Elaine walked into college with a determined expression, trying to push away the lingering thoughts of Alexander. She had made up her mind—she needed a distraction. It was the only way to stop herself from drowning in her emotions. But deep down, doubt still gnawed at her. Could she really like someone else? Would her heart ever belong to anyone other than Alexander? The thought unsettled her, but she pushed it aside.
As she reached her locker, Mary came rushing towards her, excitement gleaming in her eyes.
"Elaine! Guess what?" Mary grinned, barely able to contain her enthusiasm.
Elaine raised an eyebrow. "What now?"
"Today's the big basketball match! And you know what that means?" Mary wiggled her eyebrows. "The whole college is excited, especially because the college captain is playing. You won't believe how many girls are dying to see him in action."
Elaine let out a small laugh. "You mean Adrian Blackwood?"
"Obviously!" Mary rolled her eyes. "He's the best player we have, and you know how charming he is. You should come watch the match with me. Who knows? Maybe you'll finally find your 'distraction.'"
Elaine hesitated. Watching a basketball match wasn't exactly her idea of moving on, but she had promised herself she would at least try. Besides, she couldn't deny that Adrian was handsome and charismatic.
"Fine," she sighed. "I'll go. But don't expect me to swoon like the rest of the girls."
Mary smirked. "Oh, we'll see about that."
As the crowd gathered in the gymnasium, Elaine couldn't help but feel a slight excitement in the air. Maybe this was exactly what she needed—a change of pace, a new distraction. But as she sat down, her heart still felt heavy. Could she really let go of Alexander, or was she just fooling herself?
Meanwhile, Ryan sat in the stands, sulking as he watched all the girls swooning over Adrian Blackwood. He crossed his arms, muttering under his breath about how overrated Adrian was, but no one seemed to care.
Elaine watched the match, and she had to admit—Adrian Blackwood was incredibly handsome. His tall figure, broad shoulders, and sharp jawline were to die for. There was something almost effortless about the way he moved on the court, his skill commanding attention. But even as she admired him, her mind betrayed her, drawing comparisons between Adrian and Alexander.
They were nothing alike. Adrian had a cold, distant aura that made him seem almost untouchable, while Alexander had a playful, charming presence that could draw anyone in. Both had their own appeal, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't stop thinking about Alexander.
She sighed, shaking her head. No matter how much she tried to distract herself, her heart still refused to move on.
As the match came to an end, Elaine made a decision. She would approach Adrian and ask him to teach her basketball. It was the perfect way to keep her mind occupied, away from Alexander. Besides, Adrian was better than most men on campus—serious, focused, and distant enough that she wouldn't get too involved. This was her best chance at a distraction, and she wasn't going to waste it.
