Chapter 11

As time passed, it soon became night. The night was dark and quiet, with a sky full of twinkling stars. The moon cast a soft, silver glow over everything, and the world was bathed in a peaceful, gentle light.

"Let's rest for today, we have so much to do tomorrow..." Roan suggested.

"That's a great idea, well... goodnight, have sweet dreams everyone." Myrtle mumbled with a soft smile.

'Goodnight…'

I slowly closed my eyes, feeling my eyelids grow heavy. It wasn't uncomfortable, the world around me faded away and I was enveloped in darkness. My breathing slowed, and my body relaxed, letting go of the day's situation and worries.

My mind made me scenarios to make me sleep peacefully without disturbance.

I stood at the unfamiliar ship's railing, the wind whipping my dark hair into a frenzy as I gazed out at the endless expanse of water. My purple eyes, a deep rich shade that seemed almost otherworldly, this was different from who I am in reality.

I scanned the horizon for any sign of danger, but I knew it was here.

Monsters lurked in the shadows, their presence making me anxious. as I stayed longer, I noticed a mysterious figure stalking me. A man with piercing eyes who seemed to be able to see right through me.

'Who is that?' I wondered.

I walked along the deck, I noticed a pink-purple butterfly fluttering around a nearby flower. It landed on my hand, it looked up to me with big, black eyes.

'I don't like pink at all, but it looks majestic with the color combination.'

And then, I saw them.

The mysterious figure who appeared with the piercing eyes, stood on the other side.

I suddenly woke up from my dream, I looked around and saw my friends soundly sleeping.

"What was that about…? I seem to have forgotten quickly about the dream," I sighed. "How forgetful of me."

I turned around and saw the sunrise. The sun rose above the horizon, painting the sky with soft pinks, oranges, and yellows. The clouds were tinted with coral and salmon hues, and the world was bathed in a warm, golden light.

'Beautiful, but I'm a bit hungry, since we're in school… there should be some snacks in thr cafeteria.'

I stood up. All of a sudden, a wave of dizziness rushed into me.

"Bcause I stood up too fast… happens too often." I murmered.

I rushed to the door that we blocked with two chairs to prevent someone or monsters barging in at night.

'Hm, should I wait? I probably should… I feel guilty if I go alone and it's dangerous out there.' I thought.

I realized that it's been a few days since 'they' appeared here out of nowhere, but the lights are still on. It would be impossible for the lights to not go out because of the current situation in the country or worldwide.

Except if there was a person or more who's skilled in electricity and got out of the tower because of the 'privilege', that would make things easier.

'I'm not scared if the lights go out but… it would be impossible to see the monsters at evening without a single light on the street.' I thought.

"Sigh… Thinking about this makes my brain explode." I mumbled, scratching my head.

I turned around as I heard a noise, a signal that one of my friends were waking up.

"Hm? Hey, is it morning?" Myrtle asked while rubbing her eyes.

"Yeah, let's wait for the others to wake up so we can all discuss our actions for today." I replied with a soft smile.

.

My friends began to wake up one by one, "So we don't really have any food but… do we have to really go outside?" Thimothy asked with worries etched on his face.

"We don't really have any choice." Roan added.

"But we atleast have to assign one person to guard the classroom as we go?" Annaleigh suggested.

The others including me were agreeing to the suggestion, it was logical to leave atleast one person behind to guard but…

"Let's assign two people to guard," I said. "Since we're five, it's reasonable to leave two people because they might encounter someone dangerous or a monster while guarding."

The others paused and the room became silent.

"But… who to assign to guard team and searching team?" Thimothy asked.

"Hm, let's do rock-paper-scissor." I said.

In the end, Roan and me were assigned to the guarding team for now, the others were assigned at the searching team.

'Welp, it's a shame I didn't get into the searching team… but anyways I didn't expect Roan to be in this team at all.'

I glanced at Roan who was cleaning the classroom, "Hey, do you think they'll come back?"

"Not sure but I trust them." She replied with a smile.

[Searching team POV:]

Annaleigh was following behind and Myrtle was assigned to be the lead. Thimothy is in the middle, probably the most safe position if there weren't any middle route…

"Hm, let's be careful… the purple snake might have come here." Myrtle whispered and the others nodded.

They walked down the stairs to the first floor, the first floor had a shop for snacks and drinks so it was easy to get food.

Thimothy and the others snatched the drinkd that were still cold and the snacks, they put them in the backpack that they brought.

"This is much more easy than I imagined, but it will become dangerous soon if the food here ran out so let's take as much as possible…" He said.

"But other people might come here and they wouldn't find any… i'd feel guilty." Annaleigh mumbled.

"Our priority is our survival, we're a team but we don't have time to focus on random people."

To be continued…
