After the death of Juliet, two years had passed, Edward was now in his third year of college, he was doing very well in school, the professors all loved him. He was very popular on campus no matter how hard he tried to be distant.
Girls called him "the icy beauty" because he was cold to every girl not even giving them a glance when they approached him.
He had no friends because he hated attachments and knew the cruelty of the world.
That's what he told himself, but deep down, he was scared, scared of losing another person and ending up alone again, so instead of feeling miserable after ending up alone, he preferred being alone on his own choice.
He had the looks, height, smarts. The word 'smart' was an understatement... he was a genius, even the professors were surprised at how smart he was, he was even smarter than some Professors and he was rich, the perfect bachelor, in his first year he learnt about trading and he became intrigued, and in his second year he started trading Forex and Crypto and the occasional stock trading, he was very profitable in them, he became an expert who even attended seminars to teach.
He invested most of Juliet's money, he saved up profits from his trades and started real estate businesses, he was seeing real profit.
"I'm sorry, I can't afford to mess around with you, I have other things to do." His voice was filled with indifference and his face was completely expressionless as he told a girl who had approached him for his number.
He shooed her with a flip of his wrist like how one shoos flies.
"I-i promise I won't disturb you, I just want to be friends-" the girl was cut off before she could finish her sentence.
"Get out of my way." He said with his malice filled voice, and made and threw a glare at her, showing his seriousness, she moved away and he made his way to the cafeteria.
The girl stood at the spot where he was and was grinning sadistically like she enjoyed being ignored by him, it was awful, all the girls that approached him always behaved like that.
'i just don't want to be caught up in a relationship right now, and I don't think I can even handle it.' he thought to himself.
'it's not even something I'll consi-' His sentence was cut off when he bumped into someone.. The snacks on their tray fell off.
"I'm sorry, I was deep In thought, I'll pick it up." He said, he was embarrassed by his clumsiness and his cheeks were flushed with blushes
"Oh, it's okay, it happens." The person said.
"No no no, I'm really sorry." He picked it up and put it on the tray.
He looked at the face of the person whom he was just talking with. It was a girl.
He was shocked, surprised. He felt his heart skip a beat, she was not the most beautiful girl he had seen, he had seen many beauties but there was something about the way she smiled at him that made him intrigued about her, he wanted to know more about her.
She was on her way going, to go eat her food after their short exchange when he stopped her.
"Um, excuse me, it might be rude of me to ask this but I can't help but ask.. can I know your name?" He asked her with a smile on his face that went ear to ear, he was happy, excited, he didn't know why, but he figured it had to do with her.
"My name? My name is Marcelle.. Marcelle Duncan." She smiled her enchanting smile at him again and his heart melted.
"I'm Edward." He extended his hand for a handshake. "Nice to meet you Marcelle."
That was the start of his happiness, this woman single handedly brought the best out of Edward, Emotions that he had kept hidden inside of him for a very long time resurfaced, he felt his heart race for the first time in a long time. She was the end to his loneliness, she was the light to his world.
To him, Everything about her was perfect. She was a perfectly sculpted master piece, from her black hair that shined with a unique glow, to her clear skin that was smoother than obsidian rocks, to her perfect shape that made the word hourglass seem like a joke, to her brown eyes that complimented his.
He was in love, and it didn't take her time for her to fall in love with him, his perfections and all his imperfections too, they spent a lot of time after their first meeting and Edward started to realize that she had broken away every wall he set up around his heart. His defense was being destroyed but he still let her in. He was in love.
The love story between the Business major and the Physics student was widespread around college, it was the main gossip and gist in campus, people loved to talk about them and how good they looked together, the girls that thought he'd remain single forever were heart broken.
They spent the remaining year they had left in college together, every single day, never getting tired of each other.
They loved each other dearly and became the world to each other, they planned their marriage immediately after they both graduated college.
Edward was a rich young man, he could afford just about anything he needed for a wedding, his job was to bring in the money, he didn't care about anything else, about the party or celebrations or even the wedding day. All he wanted was to get married to Marcelle.
"You may kiss the bride." The pastor of the occasion said in a joyful and harmonious tone as the couple had finished exchanging their wedding vows.
The Field was big. It was a whole rented stage, even Edward was surprised at how many people came for their wedding, he didn't know that Marcelle knew so many people, her family came, her friends in college. Even people that weren't invited came, some were the fan club of 'Edcelle' back in college, the people that acted like Eddy and Marcy were celebrities because of their relationship back in college. Although it had been a year since they all graduated, they were still hardcore fans.
Edward and Marcelle kissed. It was a romantic and long kiss, one that marked a new chapter in their journey of love.
And shortly a few months after their marriage, Marcelle was pregnant, Edward who was now the CEO of his major investment company that dealed with everything investment was very happy, so happy that he decided that he'll never go to work again untill Marcelle delivered nine months later. He was stopped by Marcelle who understood the importance of his work. He was still happy, happy that he was going to be a real father now, happy that his life with Marcelle had grown to this stage, happy that he had met Marcelle that day at the cafeteria.
"Okay, but just know that- nine months from now, I'd not leave the house untill it's time for your delivery." He kissed Marcelle on her forehead as the pout he had on his face turned to a bright smile immediately she hugged him.
'sometimes he's like a golden retriever- so cute.' Marcelle giggle as she hugged Edward.
"Of course, you can stay with me all day." She kissed him on the lips.
------------
It was a quiet day like any other. Edward was on the couch in the living room watching TV when he heard Marcelle scream. He ran immediately knowing that it was time, he raised her up, carrying her on his arms and rushed to his car, driving off to the hospital.
In the hospital, his anxiety heightened.
'what if she leaves me? Please don't leave me Marcelle, the baby can go but don't, you are my everything.' He was scared, pacing to and fro around the waiting area in the hospital like a kid who had too much sugar.
He had seen how his father turned out when something similar happened to him.
'so this is how father felt like? It's such a scary feeling, I can't imagine how he felt when he Lost mom, I just can't.' He thought to himself.
'No, unlike mother, Marcelle is strong, I believe she can do it.' He kept having nervous thoughts, refusing to sit down on the chair.
He continued like that for hours and when the nurse finally came out the first question he asked was : "How is my wife? Please tell me she's okay?!" He screamed, his voice filled with fear and anxiety, he was shaking visibly.
The nurse smiled. 'so this is true love.' She thought to her self, he didn't even ask about the baby's condition, only asked about his wife.
"Don't worry Mr Edward, both your wife and your child are safe." The nurse said to Edward, instantly relieving all his tension.
His body felt lighter now that he knew his wife was okay.
"Thank goodness." He sighed, exhaling all his anxiety. And both him and his wife went home the next day with a son. A son which they named... Dustin.
