Chapter 40 Just an Allergy

The cool morning breeze drifted into the bedroom through the window. I suddenly woke up from my sleep and stared blankly at the dazzling sunlight outside the window.

I actually slept soundly until dawn.

No dreams?

I didn't have any dreams?

No, in my daze, I suddenly came to my senses. I suddenly remembered that I had fallen asleep on the sofa last night. Why was I in bed now?

A series of soft footsteps sounded outside the door, steady and slow.

"Who is it?" I asked towards the door.

My voice passed through the crack of the door, and the footsteps outside suddenly stopped. I looked at the closed door in confusion, feeling a sense of unfamiliarity.

The milky white door was inlaid with a silver door lock. It was clearly a very common style, but now I felt it was becoming more and more unfamiliar.

It seemed that I wasn't very familiar with the things here.

I lifted the quilt and wanted to get out of bed. When my fingers touched the soft fabric of the quilt, I suddenly stopped. I remembered that my quilt was made of cotton, not silk.

While I was still puzzled, the door was suddenly opened.

I saw a man outside the door with broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and an outstanding temperament. His delicate facial features were like a sculpture, and my heart couldn't help but beat faster.

So handsome.

I sincerely exclaimed.

"Mianmian." Xie Yan's voice was magnetic and gentle. I was taken aback before I remembered that this was the person I had a flash marriage with, although we weren't very familiar with each other.

Xie Yan walked up to me and sat down. I felt the side of the bed sink. I suddenly tensed up and moved back a little. After all, we had just gotten married, and it wasn't very appropriate to sit so close.

"Did you sleep well last night?" Xie Yan asked me.

I was taken aback and subconsciously relaxed my tense nerves and nodded. "I slept very well. I didn't even have a single dream."

"That's good."

Xie Yan smiled softly and let out a sigh of relief. He turned to look at me, and his dark eyes sparkled like stars in the bright sunlight outside the window.

I was lost in thought. Xie Yan suddenly smiled even wider. "Mianmian, are you looking at me?"

"Ah?"

I was caught peeking at Xie Yan, and my face instantly burned. I was at a loss and hid under the quilt. Xie Yan didn't stop me but just looked at me with a faint smile, full of indulgence.

The dim light under the quilt made the temperature on my face drop a lot, and my wildly beating heart gradually regained its rationality.

I just felt strange. Was I already so familiar with my flash marriage husband?

"It's time to take the medicine."

Xie Yan said from outside the quilt. After I heard his retreating footsteps, I got out of bed, changed my clothes, and went to take the medicine.

Xie Yan thoughtfully placed the medicine in my palm. Looking at the white tablets, I suddenly remembered that I had gone to get medicine for soothing the nerves because of my poor sleep.

After taking the medicine, Xie Yan went to put away the cup. I watched as Xie Yan's back gradually became blurred.

When I woke up again, I found myself lying in a hospital room. The white walls were spotless, and the surrounding medical equipment made a series of beeping sounds.

Wasn't I supposed to be making a cake?

Why was I suddenly in the hospital?

I lay on the hospital bed, trying to think about the process of how I got into the hospital, but strangely, I had no impression at all.

Creak.

The door of the hospital room was opened from the outside. I heard the sound and looked over. I saw a man in a neat suit and handsome appearance walking straight towards me. Didn't doctors wear work uniforms nowadays?

The man walked up to me and smiled gently when he saw that I was awake.

I frowned in confusion and looked at the man. Just then, I heard him say, "Mianmian, are you feeling better?"

"Mianmian?" I repeated in surprise and thought it was funny. Even if he was a doctor, he didn't need to address me so familiarly, right?

I moved my body and lay down properly. I gave the man a cold look and distanced our relationship in a distant tone. "Doctor, please don't call me Mianmian. Just call me Ms. Gu. Also, please help me contact my family."

Although the man in front of me was handsome and had an outstanding temperament, I didn't like this kind of overly familiar attitude.

I saw a look of surprise and a hint of panic in the man's eyes, but it had nothing to do with me. I raised my arm to cover my eyes and deliberately acted coldly.

"Sorry, I want to rest." I didn't like being stared at like this.

"Mian..." The man spoke again.

I suddenly sat up, and the infusion needle on my arm pierced into the flesh. I frowned in pain and thought that the man in front of me was really rude.

"I said I need to rest now. If you're not a doctor, please leave here. Even if you are a doctor, please call me Ms. Gu."

The sudden interruption made the man freeze in place. His long and beautiful eyes were filled with nothing but panic.

I didn't care.

I like handsome men, but not at this moment. The most important thing for me now was to know what had happened to me.

The man's sharp brows were tightly furrowed. He just looked at me and slowly raised his hand. The moment I noticed his small movement, I gave him a fierce glare.

Did I really have to keep warning him?

So ill-mannered. He had wasted that good-looking face for nothing.

I stared at the man with a fierce look. I saw the panic on his face turn into desolation. He nodded, lowered his eyes, and said, "Okay, I'll help you contact your family."

After the man finished speaking, he walked out. I stared closely at his back, not daring to relax. Finally, when the door of the hospital room closed again, I let out a sigh of relief.

What a strange person.

Not long after, the door was opened again. When I turned around, I saw my parents walking in. My mother was tightly holding my father's hand, and her eyes were red, as if she had just been crying.

My mother was usually very strong. Why was she crying?

After thinking for a moment, I threatened my father fiercely. "Dad, if you make Mom angry again, I'll take Mom away. We'll go out and have fun, and you won't be able to find us."

"No." Dad immediately said, but his words suddenly stopped. He looked at me with pity in his eyes and sighed. "Dad promises you that I won't make you angry, okay?"

So obedient?

"Dad, what's going on with you guys?" I asked my father in confusion.

"Mianmian." Mom choked up and came over to hug me. I hugged Mom in confusion and looked at Dad.

What on earth was going on?

I silently asked Dad with my mouth, but the moment Dad saw my lip movement, he turned his head and stopped looking at me.

Was something wrong with me?

"Mom, am I sick?" I asked Mom nervously.

Mom's body stiffened when she heard this and subconsciously replied, "No. The doctor said that you had a drug allergy, which damaged your nerves. Now you have temporary amnesia..."

Mom was crying so hard that I didn't hear the last two words clearly.

But since I knew it wasn't a terminal illness, I wasn't so worried anymore. Remembering what Mom hadn't finished saying just now, I said, "You just said that I had a drug allergy. Then what happened?"

"It's just..." Mom said.

"Ahem."

Dad suddenly coughed and interrupted Mom's words. I saw Mom's face change slightly as she glanced at Dad. When she turned back, she said gently to me, "It was because your vitamins had expired, which caused you to faint."
