The Golden Boy Chapter 5

David was walking towards Terry's office followed by his secretary

"Good morning Mr. Terry, David is here" the secretary would say as she left the office.

"Good morning Terry, we have a lot to talk about"

"Good morning Mr. Terry, good morning Mr. Scorsese David would say while shaking their hands.

"What we wanted to talk to you David is the following: we were quite impressed with your script, which is called Shuttered Island, and I contacted Martin Scorsese. Do you have any problem with that?"

"Not at all Mr. Terry, I think it's perfect that Martin Scorsese is the director of the film"

Scorsese would look at him with a smile

"You flatter me quite a bit, boy"

"The second thing I wanted to talk about is the following: how much do you want for the script and the copyright of it?"

David knew that the copyright was something fundamental for the producers

"Do you think $80,000 is a project that would push us all here"

"I like people who are sure of themselves, therefore I'll close it at $85,000"

David and Terry would shake hands while the lawyer looked at the contract for Terry to sign and give him the money.

David left the office with a smile from ear to ear this was the first step his part was already done.

"Boy I'd like to talk to you"

Scorsese would approach to talk to him

"I'd like to ask you about the cast only with the role of Chuck Aulé and Teddy Daniels"

"We could do an audition for the characters maybe we'll find a hidden talent" David would say while inside he hoped that Mark Rufallo would show up at the audition

"I think it's a good idea David"

"The truth is I have big things in mind Mr. Scorsese. Would you like to have a coffee?"

"I would love to, David, although today it won't be possible, but tomorrow it will be possible, since we have another meeting with Terry"

Scorsese would speak while patting him on the shoulder and leaving

David was happy that he had not only won the approval of Terry Semel but also of Martin Scorsese

Things were actually going quite well
