Golak Mayar's Personal Assistant, Vahd Diran

Ursa jumped on the spot in surprise when he heard the sudden scream and a punch straight to the desk coming from his earphone. However, he recovered quickly, adjusting the earphones a little while trying to get away from the crowd. He didn't know why, but his feet led him to the café he had come earlier.

"Welcome back, Mister! Is there anything I can get for you?" The same waiter was still there, greeting him with her standard smile.

"A hot chocolate, please. Just like before."

"One cup of hot chocolate is coming! Please, wait for a minute, Sir!"

Just like before, Ursa went to the corner of the café where he could see the parliament building clearly. But this time, he put his 100 percent focus on the conversation he heard on his phone. Even though there were a lot of unnecessary noises there, at least the voice was still clear enough for him to recognize it.

"So, how is it? Any news from Gori?" The voice Ursa identified as Golak Mayar asked whoever it was next to him.

"Urgh… We don't know, Sir. Mister Gori has been unavailable to be called since yesterday." The other voice Ursa guessed was from Golak Mayar's personal assistant, or right-hand man, who answered nervously.

"FUCKING FAT BASTARD! I know I should've never trusted him on something important like this!" Golak Mayar cursed out loud once again. "Now, not only did we lose that bastard Hasan's daughter, but we have no leverage against him anymore! The only good thing is that Hasn won't be able to chase my tail crazily like before, but I don't know until when would he take a break before putting his eyes back on me again. Fuck this shit! I know I should've just ignored Aunty Esther's plea!"

Just based on this long sentence, Ursa could guess what happened here. It seemed the big man who was one of Aliyya's kidnappers yesterday had a relationship with Golak Mayar, and while it seemed Golak Mayar was reluctant to give that big man a job, this Aunty Esther – which Ursa thought was the big man's mother – pleaded to Golak Mayar to help his son, and by the helpless tone Ursa heard at the last part, he knew that Golak Mayar had no choice but having to help the big man.

'Man, even a 62-year-old veteran like Golak Mayar cannot escape from the task of helping his little brother get out of the mess. Poor him.'

'Sir, what should we do now?'

'Nothing. I know for sure that Hasan's daughter is missing, and he will be preoccupied with this matter for at least a week or two. For now, let's search for my brother's whereabouts and hide all the evidence pointed at me.'

This! Ursa straightened his back, ready to record the conversation. This was what he was waiting, for Golak Mayar to expose himself like this. Now, he just had to listen carefully to the evidence that Golak Mayar had on his hand.

"No, the ledger cannot stay here! You know what to do, right?"

"Yes, Sir! I will carry the ledger and hide it with my life! If somehow, I accidentally reveal it, I will take the blame instantly before all fingers are pointed at you!"

"Good. That is the level of loyalty I've paid for."

Ursa was stunned at the conversation he just heard. He didn't know what kind of ledger they talked about, but with how Golak Mayar emphasized its importance, he knew the secret he was searching for should be there. But the most surprising part was the personal assistant's loyalty. He didn't even hesitate to sacrifice himself as long as Golak Mayar was safe, which begged a question here, what did Golak Mayar do or pay to ensure his personal assistant's unwavering loyalty?

'Blackmail? It shouldn't be. There was no hint of hesitation in his tone. Wait. Maybe, it is an emotional one! Maybe, he saved his personal assistant's parents by paying for their hospital bill or something like that! Still, this is a bit too vague. It seems I need to investigate more about the personal assistant first and also find a way to get that ledger.'

Fortunately, the information about Golak Mayar's personal assistant was all around the internet, so it was easy for Ursa to find out. He just didn't expect that there was so much news about him in the past as if he was another controversial public figure like his boss. However, after skimming through all the information on the Internet, Ursa couldn't help but frown.

'Vahd Diran, 25 years old, just graduated from Shamsa Technological Institute as the valedictorian of his generation. His acceptance into the college was pretty controversial back then, with him having several criminal records such as excessive violence and multiple store theft charges. Still, Golak Mayar vouched for him and even sponsored his education, and Diran didn't disappoint. He became the best student in his generation, and right after that, Golak Mayar recruited him to the team.'

This information alone surprised him. Ursa didn't expect that someone with such a bright resume would settle to be a personal assistant like this. Still, this at least answered the reason behind Vahd Diran's unwavering loyalty toward the politicians.

'If I got bailed from whatever crimes I committed in the past and got sponsored by the same person to pursue my education to the point I was the best student in my generation, I would also have the strong feeling to return the favor.' Ursa thought.

Still, what concerned him the most was the man's achievements.

'Two times the champion of the freestyle fighter national fight that is held annually, famous for his brutal and ruthless fighting style and always likes to put down his opponent as quickly as possible. Holding the record of being undefeated with a fighting record of 14 – 0 before he decided to retire from the tournament and focus on his education. But streets would never forget about his legendary run, putting him among the best fighters in history. Man is smart and strong, far beyond my league. If I got caught by him, it will be over.'

"Fuck it!" Another curse he heard from his phone snapped Ursa from his daydreaming. "Vahd, I don't care what you do and how many resources you need from this office, but I need you to investigate Gori's missing incident. Find out everything from where he was last night and what foolish shenanigans he did, and make sure you are not discovered by anyone, can you do it?"

Ursa felt his heart jumped when he heard that. He didn't know Vahd Diran's investigation skills, but just by his resume alone, he knew the personal assistant was a smart person. It wouldn't take time for him to figure out that the two kidnappers visited his place last night, and while that didn't point a finger at him directly, at least this would put him under Golak Mayar's radar, and he didn't want to do that.

Still, what he heard next made him rethink his rash decision last night.

"Don't worry, Sir. You will get your answer tonight."
