Chapter 78: The Mizuki Jinchuriki

Chapter 78: The Mizuki Jinchuriki

It was none other than the Mizuki Clone—the makeshift jinchuriki created by Mizuki himself. As he approached, he tossed a scroll over to Mizuki, who caught it effortlessly and put it away.

"Just in time. It's about to start. Get ready for some serious action—don't get yourself killed," Mizuki warned. Making another clone wasn't hard, but it was too time-consuming.

"Relax, I'm way more cautious than you~" the clone replied with a confident smirk.

When Mizuki returned to the stands, the battle below had reached its climax. The audience was in a frenzy, their cheers and shouts merging into a loud, chaotic roar.

Seeing Mizuki appear, Kakashi, having finished his lighthearted banter with Guy, gave him a nod.

"Wait... something's off..." Kakashi, with his keen observation, quickly noticed something unusual.

"As expected of Kakashi, you noticed that fast," Mizuki said with a sly grin.

"This is impressive... truly remarkable," Kakashi muttered as he pulled up his headband, revealing his Sharingan. He carefully examined Mizuki. "This isn't a shadow clone, nor is it just a transformation technique. How did you do it?"

His eyes then shifted to the figure behind Mizuki—another identical Mizuki standing there calmly. "It's not an illusion either. You're just standing there without drawing any attention... That's not something ordinary people can perceive."

Mizuki smirked. "That's the power of the Concealment Technique. When pushed to the limit, it becomes almost like erasing one's presence."

"Is this that Clarity Concealment Technique you taught Sakura?" Kakashi asked in astonishment. "You said it was just for storing chakra, but this is something else entirely."

Mizuki shrugged. "Kakashi, for a ninja, any technique taken to the extreme becomes something extraordinary."

Even simple techniques like the Three Basic Techniques could become formidable if mastered to perfection. Consider Hanzō of the Salamander—his simple use of poison was enough to bring the legendary Three Sannin to their knees.

"Besides, this technique is my own creation. Only I know how to push it this far. Sakura could reach this level someday, but not without years of practice."

"True," Kakashi agreed. "But if you could fully erase that faint trace of illusion, it would be flawless."

Mizuki waved his hand dismissively. "That's easier said than done. Total perfection is nearly impossible. Any technique that turns nothing into something—or something into nothing—faces an inherent contradiction."

Kakashi didn't push the point further and put down his headband, covering his Sharingan again. "But why bother with this? You know the enemy will attack in the open. What's the point of concealing yourself?"

"What do you mean, sneaky? This is about maximizing combat potential. Unlike you, I'm just a Chūnin," Mizuki scoffed.

Kakashi raised an eyebrow. "Fair point. But honestly, what is that thing behind you? It's not an ordinary clone, right?"

"Not a good habit to point at people, Kakashi," the Mizuki Clone remarked, sounding a bit annoyed.

Kakashi's surprise deepened. "You made something that talks and thinks for itself? Is it really independent?"

Mizuki's real body replied, "I guess you could say it's similar to a Shadow Clone, but it lasts much longer."

Indeed, after perfecting the Concealment Technique, chakra consumption was greatly reduced. While the root problem of the clone still hadn't been solved, the improvements made it far more sustainable than before.

Mizuki always dreamed of creating a reliable avatar to handle inconvenient situations, but the makeshift jinchuriki still wasn't up to his ideal standard. Using sealing techniques on shadow clones was not a permanent solution.

After his research into the soul and spiritual techniques had made progress—especially after the Moonlight Gekkō incident and his interactions with Yamanaka Inoichi—Mizuki gained some new insights. Though he didn't fully agree with Inoichi's methods of splitting consciousness, his own ideas started taking shape.

He recalled the concept of Data Integration Thought Entity from his previous life—a fantastical notion that once seemed like pure fantasy. However, after arriving in the ninja world and learning about chakra and spiritual energy, Mizuki realized that such a concept might actually be feasible.

Think about it: the Tailed Beasts, born from the Ten-Tails' chakra, were essentially embodiments of human negative will. This wasn't too far from the idea of a Data Integration Thought Entity, a collective consciousness given physical form.

But Mizuki wasn't trying to create another Tailed Beast. He was after the principle behind their formation—how human will and emotions could give rise to living entities. His goal was to reverse-engineer that process to create sub-conscious entities within himself. These entities would then be sealed into bodies crafted through the makeshift jinchuriki technique.

The concept sounded wild, but if he could get his hands on Tailed Beast Chakra, it might just be feasible. This Chūnin Exam presented a rare opportunity—perhaps the last one. After all, which Tailed Beast host was weak enough to be approached without attracting massive retaliation? Only Gaara, who would soon be knocked out by Naruto, fit that bill.

Three years later, when the Shippuden Arc began, it would be nearly impossible to get close to any jinchuriki, let alone obtain Tailed Beast Chakra from them. This was the one and only chance.
