Luna was shocked when her parents gave her the company that was owned by them, which she had been managing. Her tears fell on her cheeks as she read her mom's messages. It had been three years since her parents transferred the company's management to her, but now they wanted to take it back from her. Luna felt her legs weaken, making it impossible for her to stand any longer, so she sat on the floor.
"Why do they need to take it back?"
Only her crying could be heard in the room. David had already left home for his appointment for two days and had no idea what was happening with his wife. Luna felt hopeless. If she had everything before, now she had nothing. She had no business to manage because her parents wanted to take back their company from her. Her phone rang, and it was her mom asking her to meet her at their house.
"If you really love David, I need your cooperation, Luna," said her mom before hanging up the phone.
Struggling to stand, feeling weakened by the surprising decisions, Luna had no choice but to meet her parents. Her tears kept falling on her cheeks as she drove towards her parents' house. She learned that because of her unwanted marriage with Andrew, her parents wanted to take back the company that had been transferred to her. Only disappointment greeted her when she entered the house.
"Why do you need to take the company away from me? Is it because I make the wedding with Andrew impossible, Mom?"
"We have no choice but to take it back, Luna. We already told you not to ruin the wedding, but you made it impossible. You have two options, Luna: marry Andrew and keep the company under your management, or lose the company that was transferred to you," insisted her dad.
"I never thought you would do this just because of that. I didn't like Andrew at first, and you both know that. Even now, after I've married another man, you still insist that I come back to make the wedding possible with Andrew. I can't deal with that, Dad. Even if you take everything back, I would never marry that man. I won't do it. Go ahead. You can proceed now. I'm not willing to hold onto your company anymore."
"What's wrong with him? Why don't you see it with Andrew?! How is he more important to you than your family and our business management?" her dad reprimanded.
"Is it because I love him, Dad. How am I supposed to be happy if I have to marry a man I don't love? Do you want me to suffer like that? Instead of listening to my side, you only care about your business. Since you're willing to take back all those important properties you transferred to me, I won't stop you. I don't care about your choice, but my choice is that I will never leave David," Luna's final words before leaving the two.
She left the house feeling broken, her eyes filled with fury when she saw Andrew outside and they passed by each other. Andrew immediately approached her to talk, but Luna just walked past him. Andrew followed her, but she was too quick to get into her car and drive away. He felt disappointed realizing that it was his chance to talk to her, but Luna was avoiding him. Only the silence of the house greeted her when she entered. She sat on the sofa, crying, wanting her man to comfort her, but they wouldn't be together for two days.
"I won't leave him. I won't."
Even though she was deeply hurt by her parents' actions, her choice was clear - to continue loving her man. She was no longer a CEO, but she would keep striving. She wiped her tears, trying to calm herself, but the pain inside was still raw. Her parents were processing the transfers while she was suffering. Since her parents took it back, there was no need for her to go to the office. All she could do was stay inside and wait for her man to come back.
The transfers took a few days before her parents took everything back. Despite the pain, Luna was trying to accept it. Her life felt trapped, her decisions tied her down, and she was forced to let go of her man. After two days, hearing a car approaching, she ran downstairs outside and tearfully hugged her man. David was confused by her condition but decided to take her inside before asking what was going on.
Luna poured out everything to him about what her parents had done to her. The man was disappointed to learn that she chose to give back the company instead of letting him go. Luna couldn't help but sob on his chest, finding comfort in his embrace. Seeing his wife in distress also pained him.
"Don't worry, baby. I will help you start your own business. I will always love you and be by your side when you need help," comforted her man.
"I won't leave you no matter what happens, David. I will never leave you. Promise me that you won't leave me. Promise me..."
"I promise, baby. I will never leave you. I will never do that."
The man kissed her forehead as a sign of respect. Luna tried to forget what had happened, but those scenes kept flashing in her mind. It might be a long process for her to move on, but she had to try. Days passed, and she didn't receive any communication from her parents, although their phone numbers were still in her phone book.
"Waiting for their texts and calls?" David appeared by her side. Luna couldn't deny it and admitted that she missed talking to them, but the tension with her parents was causing them to resent her.
"It's okay, baby. Someday, they will understand that your decision is correct," comforted her man.
Luna nodded in response with a smile, grateful to have a man like him who was understanding and always comforting her. David suggested that she will go shopping when he wasn't home, but Luna preferred to stay at home and wait for him to return at night.
"Don't worry. Let's go shopping tomorrow."
Luna agreed, and when her man finally left, her mom called her. She was confused but decided to reject the call, thinking her mom would insist on her marrying that man again and again. Her phone rang again, and she rejected it once more until she couldn't help but answer the call. To her surprise, instead of hearing her mom's voice, it was Andrew's voice on the other end.
"Why did you let them take back the company?"
The man asked and pressed her for answers. Luna was tired and ended the call. He used her mom's phone just to reach her. Another call she received was from Andrew for a second time.
"No matter what you try to press me on, I won't leave David, Andrew. This is the end of our conversation."
Luna hung up the phone, filled with fury and disappointment, and decided to break her SIM card. She sat on the floor, broken, knowing that the conflicts would never bring her freedom. David was confused on the other end, unable to reach Luna through calls and texts. When he found Luna sitting quietly on the couch upon returning home, she was lost in thought, gazing out the window.
"I'm here. Is something bothering you?" asked the man, laying his arm on her shoulder for comfort.
Luna was relieved to see him and rested her head on his chest. She knew that only her husband could listen and comfort her. The night was silent, with only Luna awake. The night was interrupted by her phone vibrating on the table, indicating an incoming call. Her man asked her who it could be, but she reassured him not to worry, thinking it might be one of her friends. However, the voice on the other end surprised her.
"Your mom has been taken to the hospital."
Luna was shocked and turned to her sleeping David.
"Why? What's happening, Dad?"
She couldn't clearly hear her dad's response on the other end. His voice sounded broken, as if he were in a rush. Luna sat on the couch, filled with fear, wondering what might be happening to her mom. Lingering questions swirled in her mind, but she knew it was her mom. Luna composed herself, secretly walked downstairs, and drove to the hospital to find her dad. There, she encountered Andrew outside one of the emergency rooms, sitting on a bench. Andrew was surprised but relieved to see her.
"What's happening with my mom?"
"I'm glad you're here. Your mom is being treated by the nurses and doctors."
"I want to know what's going on! Please tell me directly."
"Oh, sorry. Your dad said your mom accidentally slipped in the bathroom and hit her head on the floor."
Luna was surprised and disappointed that her mom might be in critical condition. Andrew tried to hug her, but she immediately pushed him away.
"I didn't come here for you, Andrew."
As Luna headed towards the restroom, feeling a bit dizzy, Andrew grabbed her arm and pulled her closer.
"Let me go. I said, let me go!"
However, Andrew didn't want to let her go. People passing by caught their attention.
"Because of you, I always wanted you to make the wedding possible," he insisted.
"Because of you, I feel trapped." Luna stepped on his foot and left when he released her. It only took five steps for her to encounter her dad on her way.
"Where are you going? Aren't you going to wait until your mom wakes up? What kind of child are you, Luna? You should have known. She's your mother!"
"Even if she's my mother and even if I wait for her to wake up, I know what will come next, Dad. You're still pushing me to marry that man. I'm sorry, Dad. But I can't... do that."
Luna received a slap from her dad, and tears streamed down her cheeks.
"If you leave your mother, we will abandon you," retorted her dad before he left.
Andrew tried to comfort her by hugging her, but Luna immediately pulled away and went inside her mom's room. This was what she had been praying for. Her mom woke up and found her sitting beside her. As expected, no words came out of her mouth; she only wanted her to marry Andrew.
"I'm not here to fulfill your request, Mom. I want you to know that you will always be my mother, even if you and Dad abandon me as your child. I'm sorry, but I can't leave David to fulfill your request. I'm sorry."
Luna broke down in tears and left the room immediately. Andrew called her name as she left, but she continued out of the hospital. Upon finally getting outside, Luna bumped into someone and lifted her head to see that it was David, whom she hugged.
"Why didn't you tell me that you went to the hospital?"
Instead of answering his question, she continued sobbing on his chest. Andrew realized that Luna was being followed by David and he watched furiously as the two left. Even if he tried to chase them, they were too far ahead to reach. He watched them desperately until they were out of sight.
"Where is she? Did you see her?" asked her dad, along with Andrew
He held his head in despair upon learning that Luna had already left. Tensions rose when Andrew mentioned that Luna had left the hospital with her husband. Luna's dad, Thomas, went back inside the hospital in a fury. Meanwhile, Andrew remained outside the hospital, pondering how he could separate Luna from David. Frustrated and unsure of what to do he left the hospital.
