Despite my best efforts, I fell just short of the luck needed to see him marry me.
At the hospital, James carried me in his arms, racing frantically into the emergency room. He fell to his knees before the doctor, pleading through tears:
"Doctor, please, I'm begging you, save her. You have to save her."
"I'll do anything you ask, just please save her."
His body shook uncontrollably, hands gripping the doctor's white coat tightly as he begged incoherently.
The doctor sighed helplessly and said, "Sir, please try to calm down. The patient had no vital signs when she was brought in. We did everything we could..."
"No, that's impossible. You haven't even tried to save her yet. How can you know she can't be revived? Please, save her..."
James couldn't process what he was hearing. He frantically shook the doctor's arm.
He had completely lost his grip on reality.
Moved by James's desperate pleas, the doctors decided to make one last effort and wheeled me into the resuscitation room.
