Subaru’s Tumultuous Day

As Subaru Gojo strolled along the cobblestone streets, flanked by buildings on either side, he took in his surroundings with a sense of wonder that felt almost childlike.

He noticed the people around him—their unique clothing, distinctive appearances, vibrant hair colors, and the way they carried themselves—all captured his keen interest.

"Based on the architecture and attire, l can safely assume that I've landed in a medieval-like world. And with no waste or grime on the streets suggests this might be closer to the Renaissance period, or I'm in a large city," Subaru reflected on his observations.

In his spare time, Subaru immersed himself in the study of history, particularly that of medieval Europe, covering everything from wars to culture, laws, and governance. This knowledge gave him a fairly accurate sense of the historical period he was experiencing.

"Medieval times, walking… animals? Half-humans? Half-beasts? Demi-humans? whatever they're called—this is a textbook definition of a fantasy world if I've ever seen one," he murmured to himself, careful to keep his voice low to avoid drawing attention.

After walking a bit further, Subaru came to a halt as a thought struck him. 'I wonder if magic exists here?' he pondered, feeling a rush of excitement at the possibility.

While Subaru did possess a form of magic through cursed energy, it was a rigid system that limited one's ability to fully explore their potential.

A sorcerer might wield an incredible cursed technique, but if their reserves were low, they couldn't truly reace their full potential.

However, here, things could be different. Perhaps there was a magic system akin to the manga and novels he enjoyed, where a magician could grow and expand their reserves, learning an array of spells and reaching the heights of magical prowess.

'I really hope this isn't the kind of place where you have to recite long ass chants to cast spells or be forced to use wands.' If that were the case then he'd hollow purple everything in sight.

"Here goes nothing." With a flourish movement, Subaru removed his glasses, blessing this world with the most captivating azure-blue eyes the world has ever seen.

Not long after, he began to perceive what had previously eluded him. Particles floated gently in the air, colorless and almost reminiscent of water droplets. His six eyes identified these as "Mana," particularly the atmospheric kind. This could be the equivalent to the cursed energy of this world..

Then, as he glanced at the people nearby, he noticed something intriguing. Each individual possessed two distinct objects within them. The first was an orb situated in their chest, precisely where the heart is found. His six eyes revealed this to be the "Od," the source of a person's life energy, or their soul to be more simple.

The second element resembled a container filled with mana of various hues, each person showcasing a unique color, with a swirling vortex as the opening. This was known as a "Gate," the organ responsible for storing mana and facilitating its flow in and out of the body. Subaru speculated that this was the origin of all magical phenomena.

Regarding the Gates themselves, Subaru observed the variety. The colors of the mana ranged from blue to red, green to yellow, and the size of both the vortex and the container varied from one person to another. It was somewhat akin to how sorcerers possess different reserves of cursed energy, and the colors represented their cursed techniques.

The elements included were: Red, representing fire and associated with temperature; blue, symbolizing water, linked to life and healing, akin to a reverse cursed technique; green and yellow, representing wind and earth respectively, both of which involve manipulating their respective elements, just as their names suggest.

In addition, no one here has even an ounce of cursed energy, which really drives home the point that he really is in a different world.

"Fire, water, earth, and wind—this is like the most generic magic system out there, and it seems like everyone here has it, which means..." Subaru's voice trailed off as a broad smile spread across his face while he glanced at his own body.

If everyone else had it, then surely he must have it too, right?

However, Subaru's smile quickly faded into a pout.

With his Six Eyes, he could see that he did possess an Od similar to those around him, along with a gate, but it was disappointingly small. His container resembled a large water bottle, and his gate was incredibly tiny—like that of a newborn.

To make matters more interesting, his mana was a completely different color: black. This was known as "Yin" magic, which, unlike the others, was primarily used for debuffs, meaning it weakened targets rather than attacking them directly.

"Aww man, I was really hoping I could shoot fire from my hands or something cool. But hey, maybe this debuff thing could come in handy," he muttered to himself as he continued walking, noticing the unwanted attention he was attracting.

Subaru went on to roam without a clear destination, the thrill of discovering magic slowly diminishing, leaving him to confront the stark reality of his situation. 'I'm in a completely different world, one that is like medieval times. No one has any idea where I am or who I am.'

'But since no one knows who I am, that means… no one has any expectations of me. No responsibilities for an entire clan, no Jujutsu society to take care of, and no annoying smelly elders to deal with.'

He gazed up at the sky, a familiar action, one that he had done countless times before, brought him a sense of liberation he had never experienced before but deeply craved. This world could be a place where he could simply be "Subaru Gojo" instead of "The Pride of The Gojo Clan."

It felt like a fresh start, a new chapter in his life. A true blessing.

Subaru didn't have any ties back in his world; money and fame held little value for him, and he certainly wouldn't miss his clan—except for his cousin. He would definitely miss that cheeky brat.

Subaru decided to turn off his infinity, feeling he probably wouldn't need it. "I want to live a simple, quite life like the average man would, and I'm sure they don't manipulate space itself to make themselves untouchable."

"You deserve to be happy too. Be selfish for once."

With that thought, Subaru found a new purpose: to live a normal life.

How difficult could it really be?

"Watch out!" a loud voice shouted from nearby. Subaru turned to see an anthropomorphic lizard pointing at the road. His heart raced as he noticed a small child had fallen onto the pavement, and his eyes widened at the sight of a dinosaur?! drawn carriage barreling toward the kid.

Without a second thought, Subaru channeled cursed energy through his body, moving in a blur to scoop the child up just in time, pulling him to safety just as the carriage thundered past where the child had been, a near miss that could have ended tragically.

"Are you okay?" Subaru asked, and the child slowly looked up, nodding in a daze, clearly shaken by the close call. He then gently set the boy on the ground.

"He saved him!" someone in the crowd shouted, and suddenly cheers and applause erupted around Subaru. He bashfully waved his hand, murmuring, "No need to thank me,"

"Just be careful and don't trip when you are crossing the road, okay?" he advised, though the noise around them drowned out his words. Still, the child seemed to understand, nodding enthusiastically before darting back into the crowd.

Now, Subaru found himself amidst a jubilant crowd celebrating his quick action, but all he could think about was the attention he had drawn.

He had a feeling that his hopes for a quiet, simple life were going to be more difficult than he had anticipated.

Subaru sighed, feeling lost and frustrated. "I can't keep wandering like this; I need to figure out where I am," he muttered to himself as he stepped away from the bustling crowd, aimlessly exploring his surroundings.

With no money and no place to stay, he was left with just his clothes and the few items he had brought. To say he was in a tough spot would be an understatement, especially as he noticed the sun beginning to dip toward the horizon.

"I'm in a marketplace right now; maybe I can find some information here?" he thought, glancing at the various stalls and shops lining the street. He had just arrived, and this seemed like a promising place to start.

As he wandered, Subaru's eyes landed on a stall selling what appeared to be apples. He approached it, examining the fruit closely. There were red and green apples, just like he knew, but a wooden sign above the stall displayed a language he couldn't understand.

His brows twitched. "Seriously? If you're gonna speak Japanese, why the hell use a different writing system?" he grumbled, feeling drained at the thought of having to learn a new way to read and write.

"Hey! I ain't running a gallery here!" a gruff voice snapped, pulling Subaru from his thoughts. He looked up to see a burly vendor with green hair and scars on his face.

"I'm a busy guy. If you want to buy something, say it; otherwise, scram!" the vendor barked.

Subaru pointed at the apples. "What are these?"

"Those are 'appas,' the finest in the capital. Want some?"

Subaru's spirits sank even lower. 'Even the fruit has a different name,' he thought, feeling defeated.

"Um, I'm a bit lost and could really use some help. Can you tell me where I am?" he asked hopefully.

"Sure… if you buy some appas first," the vendor replied.

"Well, I'm kind of broke, so I was hoping—"

"So you're just here to waste my time? Get lost, kid! Don't interfere with my business!"

After being unceremoniously kicked out, Subaru walked away, sulking and feeling more lost than ever.

'The people speak Japanese, but they use a different writing system, and the names of fruits are different. And let's not forget how rude they are! So much for this being a "fantasy" world.' He thought to himself.

"I guess asking the merchants is a dead end; maybe I should look for another place?" His gaze landed on what appeared to be a bar.

With a shrug, he approached the establishment, pushed the door open, and was greeted by the sight of a bustling bar. Patrons were seated at tables, enjoying their drinks and chatting with friends, and some were even engaged in gambling.

But, of course, there was a catch, as there always is with Subaru Gojo.

The bar was packed with anthropomorphs.

"Hey! What are you doing here? This bar is for Demi-Humans only!" the bartender shouted as soon as he spotted Subaru.

Subaru immediately latched onto the term "Demi-human."

"Oh, so that's what you all call yourselves—'Demi-Humans,' right?" he said with a goofy grin, as if he had just solved a tricky riddle, completely unaware that he shouldn't have voiced that thought, as the entire bar fell silent.

"The hell do you mean by that?" the bartender asked, his eyes narrowing dangerously at the intruding human.

But Subaru pressed on. "So, do you know what this place is? I'm a bit lost."

"And why should I tell you? You're not even supposed to be here," the bartender scoffed.

"No, not this place. I mean the city—" Subaru was interrupted when a large, scaly hand landed on his shoulder. He turned to see a lizard demi-human towering over him, impressive given Subaru's own height.

"Move," the lizard said, pushing the boy aside, but Subaru didn't budge..

"Or what?" he replied, his smile fading. Being rude was one thing, but physical threats were where he drew the line.

The lizard repeated, "Or what?" its beadyeyes locked onto Subaru's sunglasses. Subaru leaned closer, his breath heavy and warm against Subaru's face.

"I'll tell you what's going to happen. I'll tear that pretty face of yours off and make you eat it, then I'll—" Subaru caught a whiff of the lizard's breath, his expression twisting in disgust.

"Eww!" he exclaimed, grabbing his own face and shoving the lizard away. The Demi-Human had no chance against Subaru's strength, flying into the counter and crashing through it, shattering bottles and showering itself in glass and liquor.

"Ever heard of 'Oral Hygiene'? Brush your teeth, you nasty lizard!" he said indignantly, leaving the bar in shock. This seemingly spoiled noble had just taken down one of their strongest with ease.

Subaru walked away, fanning his face as if trying to dispel a foul odor. He approached a random person and asked for directions to the bathroom.

"It's that building over there," the man said, pointing to a small one-story structure with two doors on either side. Subaru thanked him and headed toward it, ignoring the unreadable signs as he opened the door.

To his surprise, he found himself in a bathroom filled entirely with cat demi-human women.

Subaru stared at them

They stared back

"..."

"...Meow?"

A piercing scream erupted, the women shrieking in terror. Before he could be castrated for the heinous crime committed against the fair sex, Subaru quickly shut the door and teleported away.

---------------------------------

Subaru slumped on the steps of a side alley, his face hidden in his hands, groceries sprawled across him. He was still cringing from the earlier encounter.

Who would have imagined that so much could unfold in less than an hour? If someone had told him this beforehand, he would have laughed them off.

That is, after knocking them out with a Black Flash.

He sifted through his belongings, relieved to find his food intact and his phone still in his pocket. He pulled it out and opened it, only to see "No service" glaring back at him.

'Man, I wish this place had the internet; it would've saved me a lot of trouble,' he thought, shutting the phone and tucking it away. Without internet access, it was pretty much useless to him.

Still, he knew he had to keep moving; lingering in an unfamiliar place at night wasn't the smartest idea.

"Look what we have here, boys," a voice called out, and Subaru let out a sigh. It seemed the three figures he had sensed earlier were up to no good.

"With those clothes, he looks like a noble; we could fetch ourselves a good price from him," the lanky thug remarked. The trio consisted of a short, round-headed one and a larger, more muscular member.

"Hey, skinny, shorty, and ogre, are you really sure you want to do this?" Subaru said, gesturing at the individual mugger as he said their nicknames.

 They didn't take it well.

"What did you just call me?!" the smaller one screeched.

"Don't look down on us! It's three against one!" the skinny one retorted, brandishing knives from his waist.

"We were just going to rough you up a bit, but now we will just kill you and dump you in a ditch," the big one cracked his knuckles menacingly.

"Ooh, I'm so terrified; I'm shaking in my boots~ Anything else?" Subaru replied with a smirk, rising to his feet and flexing his legs. Maybe taking them on would help him blow off some steam.

"That's it! We tried askin' nicely, but—Whoa!" He was cut off as someone dashed past him, heading straight for Subaru.

"Move it! You guys are in my way" she shouted. The girl, petite with medium-length golden hair and striking red eyes, wore a tattered outfit and a scarf, clutching a glowing object in her hands. She zipped past Subaru, who stood his ground, and in an instant, she leaped onto the roof and disappeared from view.

The alley fell silent until Subaru broke the stillness. "So, are you really sure about this?"

"Absolutely, she ruined our mood even more and made things even worse for you."

Subaru shrugged and approached them, cracking his knuckles as he went. The muggers braced themselves as he got closer, until…

"Hold it right there!"
