The Year of No Umbridge

Oh, this is gonna be fun.

---

Year Five at Hogwarts was supposed to be awful.

The Ministry sent Dolores Umbridge—a pink menace—who would turn the school into a dictatorship.

She would:

Torture students with a blood quill.

Ban practical magic lessons.

Try to control Dumbledore.

It was supposed to be the worst year ever.

So, naturally…

I made sure she never arrived.

---

Step One: Kidnap the Toad

Before the school year even started, I took a little trip to the Ministry.

Finding Umbridge was disgustingly easy—she was in her office, sipping tea, probably thinking about how much she hated non-human creatures.

With a single touch, I yoinked her.

She disappeared without a trace.

Not to another location. Not even to some secret hideout.

I just… put her in a void.

An empty, timeless space where she couldn't bother anyone.

She was completely conscious.

But she had no idea where she was.

And no one would ever find her.

---

Step Two: Enjoy Hogwarts' Best Year Ever

When the Hogwarts Express arrived, everyone expected the usual Sorting Hat song, Dumbledore's announcements, and the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher.

But then…

Dumbledore stood up and said, "This year, I will personally be handling Defense Against the Dark Arts."

Silence.

Then—

Wild cheering.

"NO WAY!" Dean Thomas shouted.

"This is amazing!" Seamus grinned.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione stared in shock.

Even Dumbledore looked a little confused, like he hadn't expected this outcome.

Meanwhile, I was eating mashed potatoes, trying not to laugh.

---

No Blood Quills. No Dictatorship. Just Vibes.

With Dumbledore teaching DADA, things were… smooth.

No cruel punishments.

No "I must not tell lies."

No ridiculous Educational Decrees.

Just fun, powerful magic lessons.

Harry even got to practice Patronus charms without breaking school rules.

He was thriving.

Even Hermione—who normally questioned everything—finally gave up and enjoyed the peace.

"It's just… so nice," she admitted one day.

Ron nodded. "Yeah, but I keep waiting for something terrible to happen."

I smiled. "Maybe this is just a lucky year?"

Harry sighed in relief. "For once, I actually believe that."

I took a sip of my tea.

If only they knew.

---

Voldemort's Plan? Completely Ruined.

Without Umbridge, Voldemort's plan to control the Ministry collapsed.

There was no reason for students to rebel.

There was no Dumbledore's Army.

There was no reason for Harry to have nightmares about the Department of Mysteries.

Sirius Black? Never died.

No battle. No losses. No tragedy.

Just… a completely normal school year.

Somewhere, Voldemort was probably having a crisis.

Dumbledore: Now 1000% Suspicious

By the end of the year, Dumbledore was fully convinced reality was breaking.

His usual "twinkling eyes" look had turned into deep concern.

He didn't say anything.

But every time he looked at me, it was like he was trying to solve a puzzle.

One day, as I left the Great Hall, he casually said, "Miss [FMC], you have quite the talent for remaining unnoticed."

I froze.

Then smiled. "Thank you, Professor."

His expression didn't change. "It was not a compliment. It was an observation."

…Okay.

Time to start planning for Year Six.

---

End of Year Five.

Next up? Horcrux hunting. Because oh boy, am I about to mess up everything.
