Chapter 3 Diagon Alley

Upon receiving the message, Light reacted immediately. A sense of alertness welled up in his heart, but he showed no sign of it on his face.

While Light was secretly on guard against the Dark Lord, something unexpected happened.

At this moment, a pungent smell of garlic wafted over. As the young man with a large bandage wrapped around his head got closer, the smell became even stronger.

Whether Hagrid smelled the odor or saw the person, he greeted with a smile, "Professor Quirrell, long time no see."

Professor Quirrell, with a bandage around his head, greeted Hagrid softly.

Then he stared at Harry Potter, stammering excitedly, "Ha~rry... Potter. Ve-very... glad to meet you."

Harry Potter looked at this strange person and replied nervously, "Me too, professor. Glad to see you!"

Seeing this scene, Light couldn't help curling his lips and thought greedily, "The first meeting between the Savior and the Dark Lord, why didn't they give me one more Mileage Point!"

Thinking of this, Light suddenly came up with an idea and took the initiative to greet Quirrell:

"Hello, professor. My name is Light Rogers." As he said that, he was going to shake hands with Quirrell.

Seeing this, Quirrell rubbed his hands and then wiped them on his black robe before shaking hands with Light. He seemed afraid of something.

At this moment, a message came from the stone stele: "Complete the milestone 'Contact with the Dark Lord', Mileage Points +1."

After shaking hands with smiling Light, Quirrell continued to stammer, "I'm... your Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher this year..."

Seeing that Quirrell seemed to have something more to say, Hagrid interrupted aloud, "Sorry, professor. Let's talk in detail after the school starts! We're in a hurry now."

Interrupted, Quirrell quickly replied, "Okay. You go ahead. See you at the start of school. I'm leaving now." After saying that, he turned around and left.

Seeing this, Harry Potter pulled Light over and whispered worriedly, "Light, this professor is so strange! I don't feel good about it. Could it be that all the teachers in the wizarding school are this strange?"

Seeing the worried Harry Potter, Light said indifferently, "No, it's just this Professor Quirrell who is like this."

Then he suddenly remembered 'Snape' who would always make things difficult for Harry Potter and then changed his words, "I don't know either. I'm just a first-year student."

While Harry Potter and Light were chatting, Hagrid somehow took out a small flower umbrella and said to the two of them:

"The entrance to Diagon Alley is right here. Wizards usually come here to buy things. To enter Diagon Alley, you need to touch these bricks in a specific order, like this."

After saying that, he tapped the wall a few times with the little flower umbrella. The wall made a 'giggle giggle' sound, then suddenly caved in, and then folded and flipped to form an arched door.

Hagrid took the lead and walked through the arched door first.

Light and Harry Potter followed suit. After passing through the door, even though Light was psychologically prepared, he was completely stunned.

A long street about four to five meters wide appeared in front of them. Smooth cobblestones were paved on the ground.

On both sides were all kinds of curious and wonderful shops. Their display windows were filled with all manner of strange things.

Wizards in wizard robes strolled along the street and entered the shops to do their shopping. Owls and crows also flew around in the sky.

Just as Light was still in a state of shock, the stone stele sent another message.

"'Complete the mileage The Beginning of the Magical World and gain 1 Mileage Point.'"

This snapped Light out of his daze.

At this moment, Hagrid, who was leading the way, grunted, "We need to go to Gringotts to withdraw some money first. We still got a lot of things to buy."

After saying that, he tugged Harry Potter, who still hadn't snapped out of it, forward.

Light followed closely behind, his eyes constantly darting around as if he couldn't get enough of the sight.

Following Hagrid to a fork in the road, they saw a tall white building across the intersection.

Hagrid pointed at the white building with his thick finger and said, "That's Gringotts. It's the wizards' bank. It's the safest place aside from Hogwarts."

After saying that, Hagrid led Light and Harry Potter into Gringotts.

Gringotts' door was a shiny bronze one. On either side of the door stood goblin guards in Uniforms, eyeing warily the people coming in and out.

Further inside was a silver-white door with very prominent large characters engraved on it.

"Enter, stranger. But beware the fate of greed. Those who only take and never work shall surely be severely punished. If you wish to take any wealth that doesn't belong to you from our underground vaults. Thief! You've been warned. Beware that what you bring is not treasure but misfortune."

Hagrid led Harry Potter and Light into a lofty marble hall. A huge chandelier hung in the middle of the hall, and four massive stone pillars supported this grand hall.

Dozens of goblins perched on stools that were completely out of proportion to their height, attending to business behind the long counter.

Seeing so many strange creatures that were only half the height of a human, with long, pointed ears and eyes that seemed to bulge, yet wearing ties and suits and looking quite presentable.

Knowing that these goblin - like creatures were goblins, the staff of Gringotts, Light looked around with keen interest.

Harry Potter tugged Hagrid and whispered, "What are these?"

"These are goblins, a kind of smart but sly magical creature." Hagrid thought he was whispering to Harry Potter, but even Light, who was looking around, heard him.

Then Hagrid motioned to Harry Potter and told him to wait a while. Then he led Light to the counter to start dealing with the grant.

Hagrid and Light walked up to a goblin with unwrinkled skin who was counting coins.

Hagrid's massive body blocked the light, casting a shadow over this goblin.

Sensing someone approaching, the goblin looked up and saw Hagrid. Whether it was because Hagrid's towering figure was too intimidating, Light saw this goblin shudder.

But this goblin had very high professional standards. After being startled for just a moment, it quickly resumed its working state and screeched, "Hello. What can I do for you?"

Hagrid lowered his voice and placed the documents on the long counter and said, "We have an appointment. We're here to apply for a student loan from Hogwarts. The applicant is Light Rogers."

The goblin quickly checked and confirmed the documents. After putting them away, he took out another set of documents and said to Light, "Alright, it's confirmed that it's you. Please sign here." The goblin handling the business pointed to the bottom of the parchment paper.

Light signed his name. After making sure there were no problems, he received an interest-free student loan jointly provided by the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts.

After seeing that Light had completed the business and received the money, Hagrid said to Light, "Harry Potter's process of getting the money is different than yours. Wait for us here. We'll go and buy supplies after we're done."

After saying that, he waved at Harry Potter and called him over to handle the business.

Light indicated that it was no problem and watched them as they went to the vault belonging to the 'Potter family'.
