Kai knew that with Thor's current personality and temper, it was best to control him immediately—otherwise, he'd just keep throwing tantrums.
So, without saying another word, Kai stepped forward. Under the watchful gazes of Tony and the others, he gestured for the security guards to step back.
Then, with no warning, he grabbed Thor and flipped him over his shoulder.
"Ahhh—!"
The others were startled by the sudden move, while Thor, now on the floor, finally reacted and tried to fight back.
Unfortunately for him, Kai's strength, enhanced by space magic, was far beyond what the now-powerless Thor could handle.
The result was predictable.
In mere moments, Thor was back on the hospital bed—this time tied up.
"You dare, mortal! How dare you attack the great God of Thunder!" he roared.
The nearby doctors and security guards laughed. Now they were convinced he was just some drunk lunatic.
One of the doctors pulled out a syringe and injected Thor with a sedative.
Within seconds, he calmed down.
Tony walked over, looking at Kai with a complicated expression.
"Kai, I don't even know what to say about this."
Kai shrugged. "Relax. With Thor's durability, I could throw him a few more times and he'd still be fine. Now we just have to wait until he wakes up and gets the message."
Tony held up his hands in surrender. "Alright, I'm staying out of it. He's your problem."
After that, Jane and the others paid Thor's medical bills, but before they could leave, Coulson spoke with them briefly before letting them go.
Meanwhile, Kai spent the entire night "taking care" of Thor.
Every time Thor woke up and started yelling, Kai put him back down. Again and again.
By the ninth time, Thor finally stopped shouting. He seemed to have realized that if he kept making noise, he'd just end up on the floor again. And since he couldn't overpower Kai, he had no choice but to calm down.
Seeing that Thor had finally quieted down, Kai smirked.
"Not yelling anymore?"
Thor, now lying on the bed, looked at him warily. Then he asked, "Who are you? I have never heard of a warrior like you in Midgard."
Kai raised an eyebrow. So Thor thought he was just a warrior?
Not that he cared to correct him.
"Now that you're calm, I'll tell you why I'm here."
Kai sat on the bed.
"My name is Kai. I was sent to look after you before you return to Asgard."
Thor immediately sat up straighter.
"You know Asgard! Then you must know my identity. Can you help me contact someone? I need to return—"
Thor's excitement was obvious. No one else had believed him, but Kai had mentioned Asgard. That meant he knew something.
Before Thor could say anything else, Kai casually raised his fist.
Thor flinched and immediately shut up.
Kai waited until he was sure Thor wouldn't start shouting again before continuing.
"Look, I know you're not convinced. But I don't care. This is the fastest way to make you listen. I already know why you're here and what's going on back home, but I'm not getting involved in your family drama. My job is to help you adapt to life on Earth until you regain your powers. That's all."
Kai locked eyes with Thor.
"Also, control your temper. Got it?"
Thor looked away, clearly uncomfortable under Kai's intense gaze. But he nodded.
"Good. Looks like you can listen."
Tony and Coulson, who had been watching the whole exchange, were speechless.
Coulson, in particular, had been prepared to negotiate and use diplomatic means to deal with Thor.
Instead, Kai had beaten him into submission—repeatedly.
It was… effective.
Once the doctor untied Thor, Kai took him to a restaurant in town.
As expected, Thor's table manners were terrible.
Tony and Coulson quickly realized that while Thor had quieted down around Kai, he was still the same as before.
They were in the middle of their meal when the restaurant door suddenly swung open.
Jane, Erik, and Darcy walked in and headed straight for their table.
Jane spoke first. "Uh, can we eat with you?"
Kai nodded, and they sat down, ordering food before turning to Thor.
Apparently, after they went home, Jane had found a photo—one she had accidentally taken.
At first, it seemed like just a picture of clouds, but upon closer inspection, there was a faint figure in the sky. The outline looked exactly like Thor.
So they had rushed back to confront him.
Jane leaned in. "How did you end up inside that cloud? And, uh, how are you still hungry after eating an entire plate of pastries?"
She had meant to ask about the photo first, but Thor's ridiculous appetite distracted her.
Thor barely paused his eating to answer. After finishing his food, he grabbed a cup and downed his drink in one go.
"This drink is excellent. I like it."
Just as Jane was about to reply—
Thor threw the cup to the ground.
"Another!"
Smash!
The entire restaurant went silent as heads turned toward them.
Jane groaned and quickly apologized to the waiter.
Kai sighed. 'I let my guard down for one second, and Thor pulled something like this again.'
Still, he blamed himself for not remembering Asgardian customs.
Looking at Thor, Kai said, "Alright, Thor, you can't do that here."
Before Thor could ask why, Kai turned to the others at the table and explained:
"This is an Asgardian custom. When they enjoy a drink, they smash the cup on the ground to show their appreciation."
