Kai explained to Tony at this time "The Destroyer armor is made entirely of Uru metal. I should have told you about the properties of Uru metal before. Think about it— even if the Destroyer is scrapped, the metal itself remains. That much Uru metal is a valuable resource."
"Oh, so this metal is really rare?" Tony asked.
Kai nodded. "Exactly. That's why I asked Thor for the remains of these Destroyer armors."
"Then, can you give me some Uru metal to study?"
Hearing that the metal was both rare and precious, Tony couldn't hold back any longer. He immediately asked Kai for some, eager to take it back to his lab.
"Of course. I originally wanted these Uru pieces for you to use in your research. I don't need much, so the rest is yours." Kai paused and added, "Also, a little reminder."
However, despite mentioning a reminder, Kai didn't elaborate.
Tony, impatient as ever, waved a hand. "Alright, stop keeping me in suspense. Just say it already. I can't wait to start studying this stuff."
Seeing Tony's eager expression, Kai finally said, "Okay, okay, I won't tease you. Uru metal is a magical material. It can be enchanted, making it even stronger."
He gave Tony a knowing look, as if expecting him to put two and two together. Then, Kai turned to find Thor, who was talking to Jane, and asked:
"Thor, now that everything is settled and your powers are back, what's next for you?"
Hearing Kai's question, Thor reluctantly pulled himself away from his cheerful conversation with Jane and looked over.
At that moment, Kai noticed Sif standing nearby. The look in her eyes— directed at Thor— was hard to miss. Seeing the tension, Kai hesitated. Was Thor really that oblivious to Sif's unspoken feelings, or was he just pretending not to notice the rivalry between her and Jane?
In the end, Kai decided it wasn't his problem. He only cared about Thor's next move. If Thor planned to stay on Earth for a while, Kai would have to stick around too. After all, the Ancient One had given him tasks to complete, and she always had ways of checking whether he had done them properly.
But Thor simply said, "Oh, Kai, I'm heading back to Asgard to clean up the mess Loki made."
With that, the group followed Thor to the spot where Sif and the Asgardian warriors had landed. On the ground, they saw a faintly glowing Rainbow Bridge symbol. Everyone was curious— this was the legendary gateway between realms, a massive teleportation system spanning galaxies.
Thor led his companions into position, then shouted toward the sky:
"Heimdall, open the Bifrost! Take us home!"
He waited.
"Heimdall!" Thor called again. But something was wrong. Normally, Heimdall responded immediately, opening the Rainbow Bridge as soon as Thor called. But now— silence.
Thor and the others grew uneasy. They kept shouting:
"Heimdall, come on!"
"Heimdall!"
Thor, using the moment, turned to say a lingering farewell to Jane— prompting Sif to roll her eyes.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Heimdall stirred from his frozen state. Slowly, he walked to the control point, inserted his sword, and activated the Bifrost.
A beam of multicolored light shot down from the sky. In an instant, it enveloped Thor and his companions. As Thor waved farewell, the light carried them away, leaving behind only the faint glow of the Rainbow Bridge's imprint.
Watching from a distance, Tony turned to Kai. "Hey, do you know what they were shouting just now? Was that the spell to open the bridge? Can I use it to summon the Bifrost too?"
Coulson, intrigued, leaned in to hear the answer.
Kai burst into laughter.
"Li, what's so funny?" Tony asked, confused.
"Oh, Tony," Kai said, shaking his head. "What Thor was shouting wasn't a spell. 'Heimdall' is a name. Heimdall is the one who controls the Rainbow Bridge in Asgard. Thor and the others were just calling for him to open it."
Tony's face fell as he realized his mistake.
With that cleared up, the group returned to the battlefield where the Destroyer had fallen. They began collecting its remains, preparing to take them back.
Kai then looked at Coulson and said, "Alright, Coulson, you've been busy keeping an eye on us these past few days. Now that it's over, you can head back."
As he spoke, he conjured a portal leading to Tony's villa. Just as he was about to step through, he turned back to Coulson.
"By the way, all the classified information you overheard these past few days— consider that your reward for following me around. Do with it what you will."
With that, Kai and Tony walked through the portal, which closed behind them.
Coulson finally understood what Kai had meant. Kai had deliberately given him this knowledge, leaving it entirely up to Coulson how to handle it.
But Kai already knew the answer— Coulson would report everything to Nick Fury. And that meant SHIELD now owed Kai a small favor. Not that Kai minded Fury knowing any of this. Eventually, he would've found out anyway.
Sure enough, once Kai and Tony were gone, Coulson pulled out his phone and called Fury.
After a few seconds, the call connected.
"Coulson," Fury said, sounding irritated. "What do you want? I'm busy."
