Chapter 61: A Game of Kings

---

1. The King's Warning

Jinwoo stared at the charred playing card, the black king almost mocking him. The Architect wasn't just watching.

He was inviting him into the game.

Hye-jin's voice was sharp. "We need to leave. Now."

Dae-hyun nodded, glancing at the burning casino behind them. "Agreed. The cops will be swarming this place in minutes."

Jinwoo clenched the card in his fist. Sung-min had been a pawn, and The Architect had sacrificed him. The message was clear: Step forward, and you'll be next.

But Jinwoo wasn't afraid of the game.

He was going to win it.

"Let's go," he said, sliding into the car.

As they sped off into the neon-lit Seoul streets, he knew one thing for sure—

The real war was just beginning.

---

2. The Silent Threat

Back at the hideout, they sat in tense silence. The air smelled of gunpowder and sweat.

Dae-hyun threw his jacket on the table. "I still don't get it. Why would The Architect burn his own casino?"

Hye-jin leaned against the wall, her arms crossed. "To send a message."

Jinwoo nodded. "And to cover his tracks. He knew we were coming."

Dae-hyun groaned. "So what now? We're no closer to finding him."

Jinwoo placed the black king card on the table. "We are."

Hye-jin's eyes flickered. "How?"

Jinwoo smirked. "Because he wants me to play."

And if The Architect wanted a game…

Jinwoo was going to turn the board upside down.

3. A Deal with the Devil

The next morning, Jinwoo drove deep into Seoul's underworld. If he wanted to get closer to The Architect, he needed leverage.

And there was only one man who could give him that—

Kang Jae-won.

A former hitman turned information broker, Jae-won knew every secret in the city. But dealing with him was like making a deal with the devil.

Jinwoo entered a dimly lit bar, spotting Jae-won in the corner. His scarred face twisted into a grin.

"Well, well. The Street King himself."

Jinwoo sat across from him. "I need a name."

Jae-won chuckled. "Names come at a price."

Jinwoo slid a gold pocket watch across the table. "This belonged to Baek Sung-min. Before he died."

Jae-won's smirk disappeared.

He picked up the watch, turning it over. "Where did you get this?"

Jinwoo leaned in. "From his corpse."

Jae-won exhaled. "Damn."

Jinwoo's voice was ice. "Now, give me the name."

Jae-won hesitated, then finally whispered:

"Seo Min-jae."

Jinwoo's stomach tightened.

Min-jae was no ordinary man.

He was The Architect's right-hand killer.

4. The Assassin's Shadow

Hye-jin and Dae-hyun were waiting outside when Jinwoo stepped out of the bar.

"Did he talk?" Hye-jin asked.

Jinwoo nodded. "We have a name."

Dae-hyun frowned. "Do I even want to know?"

Jinwoo's voice was grim. "Seo Min-jae."

Silence.

Then, Dae-hyun swore under his breath. "Shit."

Hye-jin's hands clenched. "You realize what this means, right?"

Jinwoo met her gaze. "Yeah."

Min-jae wasn't just The Architect's assassin.

He was the man who killed my brother.
