Chapter 35: The Deadly Confrontation
As the Wrights' goons stormed inside, Emily's heart was racing with fear. They were armed and looked like they meant business.
Ben quickly pushed Emily behind him, his eyes locked on the goons. "Get out of here, now!" he shouted.
But the goons just laughed, their eyes scanning the room for any signs of Samantha or the ledger.
Samantha, who had been standing quietly in the corner, suddenly stepped forward. "You're not going to find what you're looking for," she said, her voice firm.
The leader of the goons sneered at her. "Oh, I think we will," he said, as he lunged at her.
But Ben was quick to react, and he tackled the goon to the ground. The two of them began to fight, punching and kicking each other.
Emily watched in horror as the fight escalated, the goons becoming more and more aggressive. She knew they had to get out of there, fast.
Samantha seemed to sense her fear, and she quickly grabbed Emily's arm. "Come on, we have to get out of here!" she shouted.
As they made a run for the door, the goons gave chase. Emily could hear their footsteps behind her, getting closer and closer.
But Samantha was quick-thinking, and she suddenly pulled Emily into a small room off the hallway. "In here!" she shouted.
As they caught their breath, Emily realized that they were trapped. The goons had blocked the door, and they were pounding on it, trying to get in.
Ben's voice came from the other side of the door, shouting and cursing as he fought off the goons. Emily's heart was racing with fear, and she knew they had to do something, fast.
Samantha seemed to sense her fear, and she quickly looked around the room for any possible escape route. That's when she spotted a small window high up on the wall.
"We can fit through there," Samantha said, as she quickly climbed up onto a chair and pushed the window open.
As Emily followed her through the window, she could hear the goons breaking down the door. They were running out of time.
As they dropped down to the ground outside, Emily's heart was racing with fear. They had made it out of the cabin, but they were far from safe.
The Wrights' goons were still out there, and they would stop at nothing to catch them. Emily knew they had to keep moving, and fast.
As they ran through the woods, Emily's mind was racing with questions. Where were they going? How would they escape the Wrights?
But for now, she just had to keep running. Their lives depended on it.
